That seems about right, when I was a kid there was always snow around my birthday.

is that photo? Maybe I shouldn't ask, because of how nicely it engages the viewer and allows them to dream. I like how mysterious it is in its abstractness and heavy colours highlighted dramatically with intense and subtle light. It is reminiscent to me of your other photo, as an image that is contrasting but harmonious. I see stormy skies above a practically hidden placid lake. It could also be photographing at speed out the windshield ; ). Thanks

The jester has long been a true hero to me. I love yer abstracts. But I recognize this one, it is one of my first wife's watercolors. Small world.

@Socialprogressive
great pix as always SP! Love yer lines. Great stuff for black and white. Great work!
Cool shot of the court jester. I don't think I'd be awaiting the first heavy snowfall so much as dreading it. I really hate the cold.
I got a line on you.

Hi Janis, Love yer ferns! Extra spider legs in Texas? Wow, I hadn't heard. Of course all the exaggerating about everything being bigger here I am too familiar with, but I hadn't heard about extra spider legs here. Maybe they knew not to tell me?
To the best of my knowledge all spiders have 8 legs. Almost all have 8 eyes as well. There is a small group called 'six-eyed spiders', which includes the Brown Recluse (Violin Spider). But I think all spiders are all 8-legged. On some species where large, some confuse the two palps at the mouth with legs but they are really external jaws, for funneling food to the maw, and not legs.
For some reason I have a strange urge to jukebox up at youtube "Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars", Boris the Spider (The Who), and "The Spider and the Fly" (Stones).

I hope you don't mind me 'using' you as an encyclopaedia of all things natural ; )
At some point this evening I will listen to and enjoy your jukebox selections.

Great lighting, Bollox
A dusting of snow on elephant rock.

Thanks for Friday Night Photos tonight, BR.

Hey Janis
It's just a doodle via an old version of Project Dogwaffle. Some water certainly.

Oh, Project Dogwaffle!
I should have known. I thought it must be some historical battle made into a board game!
Very abstract.
I like it.

Hi dystopian,
and thank you for your spiders and being here.
Is it only Texas spiders that have extra legs?
Not extra legs.
The two center front appendages are pedipalps. There used to help sense their environment.

A little funky
[video:https://youtu.be/2EQlKntLH2o]
What an enjoyable mixture
of cosmic (Bowie), scary (The Who), and moody (The Stones).
Thanks for hosting today Bollox
I really like the photo. I like the playfulness of the statue in context of the serenity of the moment.
’Looms’ sounds a little ominous ; ) If you have a favourite I hope s/he wins!
I had little time this week for finding quiet moments to photograph in, so …
Another fern and bush photo …
