Feel the other Bern: the Bern that means we need the Bern

Woah. Feel this Bern. I subscribe to the Arctic News blog from the climate scientists who study the Arctic climate change phenomena. Here is some hair-raising information from today's article, an infographic by the brilliant Dr. Sam Carana. It looks at the range of possible global temps in 2026, ten years from now.

Carana asks whether the temperature rise a decade from now (without geoengineering) would be at the low end - 38F (3.5C) hotter than 2016, or at the higher end - 50F (10C) hotter than 2016. The infographic shows the share of the main contributors and I encourage you to read the article.

Ten Degrees Warmer In A Decade?

Bernie is the only candidate who grasps runaway climate change. Clinton understands climate change, but nothing in her history suggests she would consider runaway climate change until it fries her. The GOP don't live on planet earth, so um, la-la-la. If this was 23 August 79 C.E., Bernie'd be the one leading people out of Pompeii, Hillary would be busy in a policy meeting, and the GOP would be the oblivious drunks in the pub.

As the Jewish scriptures teaches, "Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keeps the Law, happy is he." (Proverbs 29:18 Christian translation - Authorized Version) In their context, the Law meant the Torah. In our situation, perhaps the Law refers to the Laws of Physics, eh.

The Arctic News blog publishes an article about 2-3 times per month. I encourage you to get their RSS feed.

Peace be with us, if we work for it with peaceful hearts.

Safari drives me nuts when at times it won't show an image. I never know whether it's Safari or a site glitch or my operator stupidity. The infographic is the story and I do hope you can see it. Thanks to anyone who responds.

I'm from the seventies. Please fix it again. BTW, when I tried to save and upload late this morning, the site crashed on my macbook. It was kerfuffled for a bit. Increasing traffic, I assume. A good problem to have!

Gerrit?

I thought our server crashed this morning but our hosting provider said they were having hardware issues on our shared server and since the site has come back and running fine I think that was the problem. But we are planning a server upgrade either tonight or tomorrow night. I'll post an essay so hopefully most folks will have due warning.

BTW: I'm from the sixties.

It's a graph from the article, but not the 2026 temps infograph. I'll send you a message to see if we can lasso the danged thing.

Go 60s! I entered this world in 1963, but only began to figure out where the hell I was during the 70s Smile

Couple this news with the recent study showing that Greenland's ice sheet is losing 8000 tons of melt per second. 5000 tons in water. This per a paper published in the journal, Nature Climate Change this January 16. Can you say Bernie Sanders is our only hope?

revolution going and we change the energy landscape dramatically immediately. If we hit Sam Carana's low end of 50F/3.5C above 1880s by 2026, runaway climate change will be unstoppable, multiple millions will be dying already, and the elites will be building fortress compounds while we all scramble for survival. If temps hit 50F/10C above 1880s by 2026, deaths would be already in the billions and the earth a hellscape of secondary feedbacks gone berserk, including nuclear plant meltdowns and nuclear material spewing forth everywhere.
