Caitlin Johnstone's Recent Essay on "The Monster Pell"

Trigger Warning = Graphic Content

In the continuing saga that Betty Clermont brings to our pages on the sexual corruption in the Catholic church, Caitlin Johnstone relates more on the larger picture and how it wounded her own family. It will make you cry.

After being convicted of one count of sexual penetration of a child under 16 and four counts of committing an indecent act with, or in the presence of, a child, Cardinal George Pell spent the first of what may be many nights in jail. While he lay there in his jail cell, my darling uncle’s body lay in a morgue.

The storyteller, Caitlin Johnstone, speaks to a part of your heart and it burns.

Caitlin has it posted on her site. It is a very sad and heinous recount of what her uncle went through. He was just one of how many who have been sexually abused by the church while those in power who knew about turned a blind eye.

Damn every sexual molester to HELL!!!

Which AIPAC/MIC/pharma/bank bought politician are you going to vote for? Don’t be surprised when nothing changes.

Voting is like driving with a toy steering wheel.

@snoopydawg

that are interesting reads too. One described what it's like to be in a prison for sexual deviants. Of course they have to be separated from the general population.

it turns your guts into knots and twists.

I would never have thought in my life that I would have had the chance to watch a perfectly good-hearted harmless man turn into an extremist catholic cultist. The amount of psychological manipulation and mental abuse is just so scary and dangerous. How it happened nobody understands in my environment.

As someone who was both a victim of child abuse and whose Father committed suicide a month after I confronted him, Caitlyn's very personal and very descriptive story is very disturbing.

To include the trigger warning and certainly sad to hear your story too. Sad

Where does this kind of abuse come from? I really don't understand.

Caitlin's piece is very powerful and certainly dovetails with what fellow c99er Betty Clermont writes -- so much so that I wrote Betty yesterday to alert her to the article. It will be interesting to see if she comments about it.

I do agree that if ever a trigger warning was needed, it is needed here. As is her style, Caitlin is not pulling punches.

at the very start of her article, right under the photo of Pell:

(A warning to my kind-hearted readers, there’s some heavy stuff in here. If you have any trauma around rape or suicide, please be gentle with your good self and maybe give this one a miss.)

@Centaurea

Yes, she did. I was simply reiterating that the caution was warranted, and not to take that warning lightly.

warning!

I posted this between morning chores and afternoon/evening chores. Had read the article before morning chores and it struck me hard. IMO, spirituality, whether you associate with a religion, call yourself an atheist, spiritual but not religious . . . whatever . . . the core of a "spiritual experience" is loving kindness. That's all. So these Catholic pedophiles have clearly not had a spiritual experience. I find that very upsetting. In the same way that right wing religious preachers, especially the prosperity gospel flavor, are doing all of the same things . . . so horrible.

That's why I love the "Cult of Dusty" on YouTube. He calls out all of this shit.
