Attention Daily Kos Alumnae
Ladies and Gentlemen of the Daily Kos community here at caucus99percent, I am writing this as an important message to you.
The way things are going over there on the Kos, we may well be facing an oncoming problem: I fear Kos may be considering making DK into a Third Way/DLC site rather than the progressive, "storm the gates" type of Democratic site it grew up as. He's already called anyone who questions Hillary Clinton's ability to defeat Donald Trump in the general election "fucking morons" (Diary text here) and the timeouts and banhammers have been falling hard and fast on the side of the Bernie supporters.
I HAVE A REQUEST FOR YOU.
Please get to know the "ropes" of this site, caucus99percent, like the back of your hand. Should my worst fears be realized, and all non-conservas and those of us who aren't reliable acolytes of the Church of Limousine Political Correctness get hurled out into utter darkness, they will be coming here to seek the community and the refuge that is theirs by right as thinking human beings. In many cases they'll need a little help making the transition, especially if they never used DK version 4. So let's be ready to pitch in and assist if necessary.
Because I fear it may well become necessary.
Thank you all,
Sean McCullough (thanatokephaloides)

Hillary fans on GOS
are actively seeking an echo chamber now.
They are already beyond logical, cogent arguments.
Just wait until the first state-by-state delegate poll count comes out and she's behind. They will freak!
And then they will blame Sanders supporters.
Doesn't look like a Sanders effect to me
Back in July 2014
Markos posted a diary in which he told us to forget Elizabeth Warren and then he declared that Hillary Clinton was the Democratic nominee. This was nearly one year before Hillary formally declared. I guess that was to give her more time to pad her bulging bank account courtesy of her sugar daddies in the banking, health care, and pharmaceutical industries among others.
At that time, I posted a comment on his diary stating that Clinton's unfavorables in the summer of 2014 were already in the 40's and would in all probability continue to rise. With unfavorables that high, she would not have much room to grow her candidacy in the general election so the Democrats should be very careful about putting all their eggs in the Clinton basket. I am too lazy to search that comment again, but I did search and use it several times over the last several months.
If the Republicans fail to derail Trump, which I believe they are now powerless to do so, and Clinton gets the Democratic nod, Trump will bully, bluster and bulldoze her. She is not good on her feet and as she is countering one attack, he will launching several more. She is the worst candidate that the Dems could run against Trump.

assume Hillary wins big today and it's over...
it guarantees that for many years the Dem nomination will go to the candidate with the best Southern Strategy. A frightening concept!
First and foremost it means we'll either have Clinton
or Trump for President the next four years. Pretty depressing if you ask me. But then again, like I've been saying, it presents an opportunity. We just have to act on it.

I thought the 'BAR' piece said it well, that
with all their leverage, the AA Community doesn't appear to be interested in accountability, so much as protection from Republicans. (The piece was posted here a couple of night ago, don't remember where.)
I just heard yesterday, that although AAs only make up approximately 13% of the US population, they comprise one quarter of the Dem Party Base. IOW, they have the potential to exercise impressive power, and could move the Dem party in a more progressive direction, if they wanted to do so.
BTW, FSC just won Arkansas (according to Wolf).

Hey, thanks for the affirmation relating to NMDR, Sean--
it's good to know that we weren't 'duped.'
Seriously, before we made the first contribution, I did a little checking on the organization, and it 'seemed to be' top notch.
If there is a Heaven, there'd have to be a place reserved for Theresa and Rich Strader. I'm considering creating a macro for (yet another!) signature line, to include a thumbnail photo of Lily, with the organization's website url--in hopes of getting the word out about them, and their mission.
Have a good one.

I have been saying this
for a long time about Clinton's vulnerability. The problem is that the Hillaryites think that the youth vote, the independents, and the very disaffected left will automatically switch from Sanders and vote for her. My take has been that a significant portion of those voters will opt out or vote third party. A vote not cast is a the same as a vote lost to the opposition.

Another DKos refuge
Hi All,
I am another DKos refuge who saw the writing on the wall when Kos told everyone how he just made a lot of money selling off his stock in VOX, how he enjoyed working with the people who were his enemies and, he wanted to be transparent about it lest people thought he sold out.
The last straw for me was his calling Sanders supporters "fucking morons".
Kos like Hillary are prime examples of what is wrong with our corrupt system. People valuing paper and numbers over human life and the planet.
I plan on staying fully away from DKos now that I have found a place that shares my values and might be able to help me push forward political ideas I have that might help us all, too.

what's #%$&&^ing moronic...
is putting Republicans on the front page all the time. The Dems have had nothing but losses since 2008 and I think it's because they didn't follow the Democratic agenda (as outlined in the 2008 platform) but instead stupidly thought that the anti-Bush talk that was successful in 2006 and 2008 was the way to continue. It's as if they didn't realize they'd actually won. By fighting the previous fight and ignoring the present they showed themselves to be $#^%ing moronic. Now Markos sees himself as a power broker so he looks to those clowns for guidance. He's a pawn and he's too stupid to know it.
Or, alternatively, and probably more likely, they just want power and have no interest in issues.
Ding Ding Ding
"Or, alternatively, and probably more likely, they just want power and have no interest in issues."
Thats the real reason. Platitudes to the masses, riches for the establishment.
Kos gained political power from DailyKos, which he used as leverage to gain wealth now. He doesn't need progressives anymore. He sold us a book and his brand and now he can tell us to go F our selves. I bring this up because its exactly how everyone in the Democratic establishment operate. Just like Hillary Clinton does.

I agree and I don't even like Bernie that much!
They talk about lesser evil but that doesn't move me at all. Evil is evil, whether it's Trump, Obama, Bush, Reagan, Clinton or the other Clinton. So no thanks.

Thanks for bringing Markos' comment to my attention, otherwise I would have missed it.
Considering that fully 2/3 of DKOS is for Sanders, or at least it used to be, I can't keep up with all the flags and the bannings, the mass delusion of the Hillary supporters is truly frightening, it's tribalism, but with no perks. I can't believe that the majority of posters are in the $250K and up stratum.
I still haven't heard of a valid reason to vote for Hillary other than "because". She is a horrible person and a horrible candidate. I prefer Trump to her.
Clinton vs. Trump
Isn't it great to be able to say such a thing without fear of the oncoming banhammer?
Now, Trump sucks as a national leader for a variety of reasons; I rather look upon a Clinton-Trump general election slate as a Hobson's choice like "would you rather die by electrocution or explosion?".
I think the kitteh in your avatar pic would make a better President than either one of them. I know either of the kittehs I live with would!

I honestly have no idea what would happen if Trump were President. I would prefer him to Cruz or Rubio though. As for Hillary, I know what I'd get and I have no intention of voting for her ever. We would definitely have more war, and we would likely see the deliberate erosion of SS and Medicare as part of some grand bargain with the Republicans.
I won't lend my vote or support to either of them. If and when Hillary officially gets the Dem nomination, I will reregister Pacific Green Party and never look back. Jill Stein suits me just fine.

$0.00 to build. The Drupal CMS software cost $0.00. The labor to build it cost $0.00. The web space is paid for by member contributions. I have mucho time off from work in the winter months so last winter I installed a local Drupal/Apache/MySQL platform on my home comp and taught myself the Drupal system. Eventually it morphed into the site we are all playing on now. I do the open thread on Sunday, I'm thinking of doing a rundown of the history of c99p this Sunday, some folks may find that interesting.
I think the manner in which this site came about and the fact that it's not owned and lorded over by an individual blogger per se is one of the prime attractions of c99p. It's kind of unique in that manner. It's by the 99% and for the 99%.

with a vested interest in being gate keepers for the 'oligarchical collectivists' . Regardless of their gender, race, age or whatever they do not want their boats rocked and willfully refuse to look at the anti-democratic nasty agenda they are protecting. Dopper has a piece up schooling Bernie's supporters about how to win black votes. I made it through until he started bad mouthing Cornell West. My take away was Bernie needs to learn to pander to the affluent old guard machine black Dems. leaders and not talk about a political revolution. All and all it seems like a variation on the Clintonist twisty talking points. I'm not buying it I'm a firm believer in 'don't follow leaders and watch the parking meters.'

I'm an unapologetic leftist, as I grew up believing in the ideals and priorities of the New Deal. I make no bones about that fact.
But DKos doesn't seem to be interested in hearing that we've lost our soul as a party, and that some of us would rather preserve our integrity in calling a spade a spade rather than succumb to the slow suffocation of identity politics and the "us vs. them" imbroglio.
I'm not done with that site quite yet. But a couple more primaries combined with the generally contentious tone of my diaries and comments might push me out of DKos' "reality-based community".
