Ladies and Gentlemen of the Daily Kos community here at caucus99percent, I am writing this as an important message to you.
The way things are going over there on the Kos, we may well be facing an oncoming problem: I fear Kos may be considering making DK into a Third Way/DLC site rather than the progressive, "storm the gates" type of Democratic site it grew up as. He's already called anyone who questions Hillary Clinton's ability to defeat Donald Trump in the general election "fucking morons" (Diary text here) and the timeouts and banhammers have been falling hard and fast on the side of the Bernie supporters.
I HAVE A REQUEST FOR YOU.
Please get to know the "ropes" of this site, caucus99percent, like the back of your hand. Should my worst fears be realized, and all non-conservas and those of us who aren't reliable acolytes of the Church of Limousine Political Correctness get hurled out into utter darkness, they will be coming here to seek the community and the refuge that is theirs by right as thinking human beings. In many cases they'll need a little help making the transition, especially if they never used DK version 4. So let's be ready to pitch in and assist if necessary.
Because I fear it may well become necessary.

Been on Dkos since 2004. I was barely involved in the 2008 fight, kinda liked Edwards (yikes). But, I am full on Bernie. And its just a bloodbath there. So, I was happy to find here. Not for an echo chamber, but for a more engaging than attacking blog group. Thanks!

If you support Bernie Sanders and you won’t support Hillary Clinton then let the DNC know that by signing and sharing the petition below. This petition doesn’t necessarily mean you will not to vote for Hillary if she is the eventual nominee, but that she will not have your personal support in a general election, such as donations and personal advocacy. Better to let the DNC know now before the race is decided. Hillary is universally unpopular amongst voters 18-29 and independents, two demographics democrats need to win a general election, in addition she has an over 50% disapproval rating. Also Hillary is only winning in states that are not going to matter much in a general election while losing in those that are, by wide margins. Meanwhile Republicans are have broken records for participation in all of the first nominating contests. If Hillary and Trump win their perspective nominations then Trump could not only become our next president but he could also obtain super majorities in the house and the senate.

Between now and July, think it’s important to let the DWS/DNC/DLC/Third Way, super pacs, super delegates know this election is not “business as usual.” Was expected Clintons would support Obama in 2008. They clearly wanted to stay politically viable, knew & were already planning for another run at POTUS.

Just look at how the Republicans rejected their dynasty, establishment candidates. This election is different.
Not PUMA, doesn’t apply this election. Not only of course, the example of Clinton bff Lynn de Rothschild creating Democrats for McCain in 2008. That’s not what I’m talking about. Clinton has already said, their surrogates have said, Bernie Sanders is not a “real” Democrat. Neither am I. The Democratic party lost me when it was taken over by the Clintons, DLC, Third Way. I’m an Independent who for almost 50 years has voted only for Democrats ( exception: Martha Coakley, did not vote for her, & Evan Falchuk got enough votes to create the United Independent Party in MA) and spare me the “Ralph Nader” attacks, Nader was running on the Green Party ticket.
This election is different. The hundreds of thousands of people supporting Bernie Sanders, funding him, campaigning for him,marching for him, are not “establishment” Democrats either. Our votes are not for sale. We are voting on issues, Bernie Sanders represents those values, issues we believe in. Does not mean, if Bernie Sanders is not (Dog Forbid) the nominee we will automatically transfer our support to another candidate just because that candidate is a Democrat. NOT. THIS. ELECTION.
I will vote. I will vote for Democrats down ballot. Do not expect younger people coming out in droves to support Bernie, millennials becoming politically active to stay engaged in the election process if Bernie Sanders is not the nominee. So many of the people supporting Bernie Sanders were discouraged, disillusioned, not engaged, before he began campaigning in the Spring. Look what we’ve accomplished in so short a time.

and reasonable. Old school ranting GBCW works best. Suicide by the schools of pirana's who love to take out any 'troublemakers' who refuse to carry kos's water. Just fading away might be best.
I respectfully disagree
If you're leaving a community with no intentions of returning and you feel ostracized, you are risking absolutely nothing by telling the truth as to why. Even if the majority heckles you, you are standing up for people who can't or won't, and giving a voice to the people who silently left for the same reasons.
I remember one very well written GBCW from last year - the poster had remained consistent in their values and assessments, and showed how little had changed there since he created his account. His entirely logical conclusion was that his political energy was better spent elsewhere, and his words still ring true to me.
Even at its best, DailyKos interdicts a number of people who would otherwise being involved in face-to-face politics, and everyone ends up a demogogue to some degree. Rather than actively engage with even the most substantive content, people reuse talking points as if they themselves were campaigning. It's led to a political environment where even the most casual supporter is labeled a proxy or shill because they're the most likely to repeat only ideas they've heard which they think are persuasive. Do people really wonder why the quality of writing and posts there has decreased?
The best part of it all is their email campaign for new diarists. They will always be looking for more users, until the rate of churn subsides, at which point the site will slowly fade. I just about shit my pants laughing when people started telling the noobs they recruited to freshen up the place to get the fuck out as thanks.
My plan is to meditate and take a break from politics (aside from mailing in my Oregonian ballot) for a month or two until I can remember what it feels like to want to fight in that arena, and then try and refocus on action in meatspace. I would love to find a local candidate around my age and lend them a nerdy hand. I certainly won't spend another minute worrying about someone's online criticisms of what they imagine to be my perspective.
Anyway, sorry for the sort of ranty reply. This is the first time in a while I haven't been scared to comment at length.

Nice to interact with a someone who lives in this state. Your rant reply made sense and so does your fighting in another arena. Oregon while 85% Democratic could use some activism within the Democratic party that has proved to be almost as corrupt as the national Democratic machine. They are hell bent on making a killing off demolishing Portland and growth. Meat space is almost as frustrating as dkos as the same Democratic machine mentality seems to prevail. On the other hand you can get your body down to public, county city, meetings and make waves.

I would go back, if that site actually wouldn't claim ownership of comments. I boycott and will continue to boycott any site that makes erasing, closing accounts and deleting content you provided for free, difficult or impossible. Dailykos lives of "junk comments". You can't close your account. You can't erase your own content once you are banned. If you think that is a policy that could survive anywhere else than in cyberspace, I can only shake my head.

I got a warning because I flagged a tip jar of a diary that had dogged down, copied and pasted into a dkos diary, a whole bunch of inflammatory comments against Hillary from DU and Reddit. It was a whole lot of Berniebro that was intended to be flame bait. My flag was inappropriate. The diary was okey dokey.

1/3 of the people there are calling the shots. The help desk is a joke. 295 flags on PW tip jar, and it took an unrelenting campaign at the help desk to get her so much as a lousy timeout. Ummm, kos, were they "Sanders supporters" in 19-effing-92 when Republicans and Democrats alike proclaimed "No Billary"? And made it clear that the objections centered around her more than him?
Hillary will struggle if nominated; she is more likely to lose to Donald Trump than Bernie Sanders is; and that fact is most emphatically NOT the fault of those Dems who favor Sanders. We're dealing with an electorate which is nearly half party-unaffiliated. And those voters do not want any more Clintons. That's not our (Sanderistas') fault!
