Hillary Win Texas?
I still look over at TOP because there is some worthwhile content there. The fact that BNR is still allowed is heartening, often with no asinine comments. And I understand people being for Hillary rather than Bernie, as mistaken in their reasoning as they may be (joke), but I'm seeing something recently that is just not realistic.
Some are speculating that she could win Texas in the general election. Sorry, I find this highly delusional.
I guess the first thing I would have to ask is whether these people actually live in Texas. I'm not native but I've been here 43 years, fortunately near Austin, the one liberal enclave. Hillary is not going to win here. Maybe Austin, though that is really Bernie territory. But the rest of the the state, forget. Have they looked at the people put into office in the last election? Do a Google search on Greg Abbot, Dan Patrick, and Ken Paxton let alone our two senators: John Cornyn and Ted Cruz. Ya really think Hillary's gonna do good here, do ya? There is that "Hillary outdid Bernie in the south" meme, but let's face it, she did better in places she will never take in the general election, so is that really a plus in her favor? Not a minus either, just inconsequential. Until such time as the presidential election goes to popular vote this is a non-issue as to who is the better candidate.
Some are even speculating what the late Ann Richards and Molly Ivins would have to say about Drumpf. Yeah, good source of material for them. But we do know what Molly Ivins had to say about Hillary. I don't think they will bring this up:

I know as a Sanders supporter we are fighting what will probably be a losing battle as far as the nomination goes (sorry, just being realistic here, I wish it wasn't the case), but the Hillary folk certainly can't accuse us of being unrealistic when they float ideas like this as being feasible.

I live near Dallas in a rural area
Mrs. Clinton is so extremely universally hated here. I was actually surprised she won the primary, but the democratic party might be the most useless here of any state. They are bought and paid for.
I run into republicans all the time who say they would vote for Bernie.
I still think Bernie can win the nomination. There are cosmic forces at work!

I grew up in Grand Prairie
I grew up in Grand Prairie and moved from Mesquite to NC in October. There is no way Texas is in play. You are right mhagle. Trump might not be liked by that many in TX but Hillary is reviled. Oh, the Democratic Party in Texas is a joke. They are still using voter data and info from the late 90s/early 2000s. Doesn't help when the DNC uses the state as an atm and a scary bogeyman for other places in the country.

I was a teacher in GP
from 1993 - 2004. My husband grew up there on the north side of town and was a teacher/administrator there for 29 years.
I agree. They hate Hillary and Texas Dems suck. There are some good individuals, but the party is 99% of the reason why Wendy Davis did so poorly in the governors race.

Which school and what subject he teach? I grew up on the North side of GP also. Lived over near the Defense Plant on SE 14th and Jefferson.

there's a lot of fantasy over there lately...
as if they've lost their minds; that's what made it unvisitable, although I addressed it in a couple diaries before quitting...
Thanks for the Molly link
I posted it a few times in TOP thread in response to those who wondered what Molly would have said about Trump ; )
Love Molly Ivins
From the link, written 10 years ago about HRC
It's laughable that anyone would think, let alone express out loud, that HRC can win Texas.
This is still "of those times" which is why it's so important that Bernie is out there speaking the truth. This nation needs him now more than ever.
Molly Ivins was an incredible person
Ive been lucky to have met a few incredible, radical women. Col. Anne Wright for starters. None of the strong women I know are into Ms. Rodham.
I've protested Hillary as much as I protested GW Bush. They both are asshole republicans.

I was lucky enough
to have met the person who should have been the first woman president, as well as first black president: Barbara Jordan, back when I was getting my undergrad. But this was mid to late 70s and there was just no way at the time.
My Dad would have added his voice to yours!
He always thought Jordan would have made a great president.
Love Molly. That quote reminds me of one I post now and then
from actor, writer, and blogger Wil Wheaton (young Wesley Crusher in Star Trek: DS9). It's about political courage and leadership:

I must butt in here. Wheaton wasn't on DS9. Wil was on Startrek: Next Generation

Hillary will get zero votes in Texas
that's right, zero. My mother, who has not voted for a Democrat since '64 and voted for Nixon in '60, would vote for Sanders. She despises Trump, but she is going to vote for him. The reason is that everyone despises Clinton even more- left, right, center. The notion that Clinton could somehow win Texas is what you call insane. Those guys at dk are nuts, really nuts.
[edit:] I sure do miss Molly and Ann.
I am only one Texan vote...
I loved Molly, I loved Ann, and I will never vote for HRC.
I live in a Republican suburb in North Texas; I have not seen a single HRC sign or bumper sticker. She is despised here. Nothing is more motivational for the right wing than offering up some redmeat.
One of the advantages
of living near Austin: Ann Richards and the Alamo Drafthouse.

There are HRC bumper stickers?
I can assure you that in Houston there are not. However, I've seen as many Bernie stickers as Trump stickers ... maybe more.

Who else here will be in San Antonio for the convention in June?
Please message me - I've got a small group identified on TOP since before the edict. Hoping to meet up down there.

great ivins rant, but hey, look at what
moulitsas and teacherken said about HRC back in 2008. why i bet today M.I. would be right out there leading the Hillarist charge! yessiree, yup uh huh.

Did you read what she said about people willing to pay higher taxes to get single payer?
This is what Bernie is trying to tell people. Sure your taxes will go up a bit, but no more ungodly premiums that are going up double digits this year and no more $6-10,000 deductibles to pay before your insurance kicks in and starts paying for doctor visits and prescriptions.
How hard of a concept is that to understand?
If Hillary had stood up and spoke out against the Iraq war, how many other democrats would have followed her lead?
And during WW1 they went around kicking dachshunds but they didn't kick German Shepards
