Bernie: "The Democratic Party has a choice."

This is a very important message from Bernie to the Democratic Party:

The Democratic Party has a choice. It can open its doors and welcome into the party people who are prepared to fight for real economic and social change – people who are willing to take on Wall Street, corporate greed and a fossil fuel industry which is destroying this planet. Or the party can choose to maintain its status quo structure, remain dependent on big-money campaign contributions and be a party with limited participation and limited energy. -

msnbc's First Read reports about Bernie's speech yesterday:

And last night, after his narrow apparent loss in Kentucky and win in Oregon, Sanders struck a defiant tone at his rally in California, challenging the Democratic Party. "The Democratic Party is going to have to make a very, very profound and important decision," he warned. And per NBC's Danny Freeman, the crowd booed mentions of the party and chanted, "Bernie or Bust" repeatedly.

From a Bloomberg News story about dangerous divisions in the Democratic Party:

Later, at his rally in California, Sanders suggested there would be consequences for Democratic Party leaders if they don’t change its rules to expand participation for independents and newcomers.
“Open the doors; let the people in,” Sanders said,
after supporters booed the mention of the Democratic Party. He added that “before we will have the opportunity to defeat Donald Trump we’re going to have to defeat Secretary Clinton.”

Meanwhile, Paul Waldman, erstwhile "liberal commentator," proclaims on WaPo's Plum Line:

Why the Sanders movement is just about dead

No doubt, Daily Kos's owner and front pagers will be spreading this meme. The revolution is over, they will say. Daily Kos is as left as it will be, and we won't rock the boat.

They are as wrong about that as they have been about Bernie so far. Bernie has accomplished much -- millions of votes, spreading the message, and exposing faux progressives and the rot in the Democratic Party. This movement will continue.

I am damn proud to have voted for Bernie and contributed to his campaign. A victory in California will speak volumes!

CARSON, Calif. — Voter enthusiasm in California is surging with more than 1.5 million newly registered or re-registered voters since January 1, according to the latest data from Political Data Inc. With that number expected to surpass 2 million before the May 23 deadline, U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders has shown he is the candidate who can build the energy and excitement to attract new voters to register and participate in the Democratic process.

Don't forget: Bernie needs our cash: https://berniesanders.com/?nosplash=true

Also, for those who want to elect actual better Democrats, there is competition to Kos's project:

https://brandnewcongress.org/

America needs an honest, accountable Congress to enact Bernie's program. But trying to win each Congressional seat one-by-one is impossible. So let's run one campaign to replace Congress all at once (except those already on board) that whips up the same enthusiasm, volunteerism and money as Bernie's presidential campaign.

We're building on the tools, tactics and networks that we developed together on Bernie's campaign. But to pull this off, the volunteer movement will have to wield more power and resources than on any campaign before. This means volunteers on the ground will run their own offices and voter contact operations, and will have access to all necessary tools and materials from the start. Get ready for the most beautiful campaign ever.

This is just the beginning!

Purged from DK and they suddenly realize they are all Really paid Brock posters... Talking to each other.

DK once THE place where progressives gathered has become a zombie site occupied by paid by the post Brock bots, trump trolls and 2008 PUMAS and their many sock puppets

Orwell was an optimist

I was wondering that, myself. Of course, there's no way to tell just how many are paid commenters, but it would be interesting to see what kind of drop off there is after the primary is decided.

I bet someone could write a web crawler to do that kind of analysis. Those results could be quite interesting, lending credence or putting to rest the idea that there were a bunch of paid commenters posting on there.

This assumes of course that paid commenters would drop off activity after the primary was over. Also, people dropping off for other reasons (i.e. lack of exciting primary battle) are a confounding factor. There might be ways to account for that, though....

when this site becomes really big, we could establish a group here for coders and want-to-be coders to create useful programs. I'm a want-to-be coder who has been self-studying. The group could work on internet programs that help counter the disinformation and take requests for useful web analysis tools.

Beware the bullshit factories.

I believe today is that day. I'll just be hanging here with the cool kids. Hopefully Lieper will start posting BNR here.

but it isn't as comprehensive as his daily BNR at Daily Kos.

Yes, some are purged.

And some of them are here

But one gets in the habit of spending at a site and gets to know people like TomP who wrote this article

But it has gone mostly all Hillary

There was a good post about neo liberal econ and one of the Hillary supporters said that it is just a word. The very frame that has allowed the oligarchs to enrich themselves, is just a word.

Is the behavior on DK a dress rehearsal for a larger collapse of the dem party?

And the almost uniform support of Hillary be elected officials makes them all part of the same stew, and it stinks

Just this week dailykos got to me. The REC list right this minute is a celebration of Queen Hillsry. BNR is at the bottom of the REC list.

BNR has been one of the top rated pieces at DK for a long time. If it falls in ratings, that will be another measure of how many people could not take DK any more

Thom Hartmann had a very long couple of segments today on the Nevada delegate fiasco.

I think that Karl Rove is wrapped up in Hillary's campaign to win by corrupting elections.

I have been told by the atty making the case, that there will be a major election integrity case filed before the CA primary. No reports of this effort in the press but part of a group of people working the issue of election integrity for decades.

The NV melt down will be one of the exhibits, and just as Republicans pretended things were OK when the 2000 election was stolen in FL, the dems are OK with what happened in NV

Did you hear there was VIOLENCE! OMG! A MAN PICKED UP A CHAIR! AND THEN HE SET IT DOWN!!!!!!

They think they can fool us this easily

The corporate media is about stars and their lives

This election is different which is one of the reasons that the corporate media is less and less relevant

Glad I missed it today.

I will come by tomorrow in the morning to rec BNR, leave a comment, mention my post here and leave.

Kos's latest temper tantrum is driving even more people off the site.

But I'm sure it will stabilize. Many people feel as if it is home and get emotional "strokes" from the place.

It is what it is. A centrist Dem place that calls itself "progressive."

With the left gone, all they have is hagiography and Trump.

It will be boring.

Kos will be controversial in an attempt to drive clicks.

They never have had real competition, and it shows.

The mention that stats show a sharp drop on weekends. To me this seems counter to what I would expect. Like maybe you have a lot of Monday through Friday paid posters.

Awhile back one diarist noted there were no trolls in her diary a poster responded they would show up around 3 in mass. That is exactly what happened.

per MSNBC reporter Alex Seitz-Wald on XM Radio.

Mailed another contribution this morning, but, will consider more very soon, now that I've heard this.

I don't give money online (we use snail mail), and I don't receive emails from his campaign. So, I'm wondering if any of his constituent emails address this shortfall, head on. If they aren't, I fear that they are making a big mistake, since many supporters may assume he's still doing fine with his fund raising, based upon his huge numbers earlier this Spring.

This also may explain the departure of several of his top aides in California, reported a couple days ago. I heard his speech (parts of it) several times last night, and didn't notice him asking for money as directly as he's done in the past. (But he did mention the $27 average contribution.)

The language also changed, somewhat. Meaning, he referred to being in it (the race) until 'the last vote is cast.' As opposed to, 'through the convention.'

Does anyone have a link to the transcript of his speech? I'm certain that he used that language, but would like to see if (in another part of the speech) he referenced the convention, or the platform.

Bottom line, if we want Bernie to win, he needs our support until the day he drops out.
