Ploughshares into swords
If you were paying attention tonight ( and this morning, it was a loooong day) you had the terrifying privilege of watching democracy be stolen. Not gently. Not with the slow drain of disenfranchisement, nor the creeping hand in a ballot box.
It was public. It was on Twitter, Reddit, Facebook, Periscope and god knows where else. It was blatent. It was shameless.
Nevada showed that are our fears are justified. Our anger is justified.
When a woman being filmed live feels comfortable enough in the protections afforded by her..benefactors to railroad through an incredibly anti democratic action, that leaves us with no conclusion to draw but that she is in fact, protected.
That she will carry on with her life, in a rich bubble of approval. That nothing more discomforting than needing a new social media face will interrupt her smooth glide back into anonymity. That she may in fact be lauded by some for her moral depravity.
Is this so?
Very, very, probably.
Is our presidency merely a mask that provides greater chances for corporate growth? Is America just a brand on the downslide with upper management looking to squeeze out one last profitable term before declaring bankruptcy; leaving us in a free fall while they float, secure in their golden parachute?
Our country, our democracy, our money, our vote, our voice, our future is being stolen, right now.
Do something. Before you can do nothing.

So glad your here, Celeste
You're such a welcome addition to c99. Your dedication and unflagging support of Bernie's campaign is inspirational. Hope you get some rest today and have some fun with the kids, you put in some long hours yesterday and it was much appreciated.
You've stated it perfectly
It was so blatant and shameless -- and documented moment-by-moment on social media. It is absolutely gobsmacking that this could happen in this day and age. It is proof that the Democratic party is not democratic.
The kid gloves are off. I'm afraid the 99% is going to be treated much more roughly from here on out.
I hope the electorate wakes up and burns this party to the ground.
what I don't get is
where is the president in all this mess - isn't he the leader on our party? Isn't he all about voting rights? The silence from the white house is deafening...
Why would he touch this if no
Why would he touch this if no one is forcing him to?
He is focused on his legacy and skating out.
If you think he's gonna dig into this, I'd be much, much more than shocked.

Turns out the Dems have their own Katherine Harrises.
Look the world right in the face and declare black is white right there in front of God and everybody. I truly thought the Florida Secretary of State was one of a kind.

Actually, they're like Tribbles and multiply non-stop
they do it for prestige and money and they have the ethics and morals of a slug. You can find them at the NY BOE and in every precinct in America waiting their turn to move up in the ranks and really start cashing in.
Yes, I guess that's true.
I was so naive in 2000.

I watched a lot of the recordings done last night
while this was all going on. The narrative is simple. There was an attempt to change the rules on a voice vote held at 9:30 am that was not supposed to start until 10. There were still people outside in line ( a lot of people) trying to get their credentials and be seated. The state chairwoman ran the voice vote anyway. It was so loud on both sides that no one with any sense of democracy would have been able to let that stand and not go to a numerical vote. She not only did that, she had someone second her motion from the stage and declare herself the authority to call the vote for the yays. There was a reasoned speech given by someone on the Bernie side calling for a recount who was basically ignored.
Now over in Kosland, there are diaries calling out the Bernie supporters as unruly and disruptive with NO cause. And if Bernie supporters don't speak out on this meme, it will rule the day in the media. So I would encourage everyone to make sure that the narrative from this convention is clear and simple enough to counter what is going to be said by the Hillary crowd. Oh, and Barbara Boxer??? I couldn't even watch the whole video of what she said. She seemed to relish her role as instigator while claiming that Hillary has already won the nomination. She was awful! Some delegates have already sought legal advice and representation. So this is not over yet. One thing is clear. The Hillary camp is NOT interested in unity AT ALL.

Perhaps you are unaware but
Perhaps you are unaware but they also eliminated just enough delegates to give Clinton a numbers advantage and those poor souls waited outside ALL NIGHT, to engage in the democracy they thought they belonged to. They were lied to, and tricked in what was just an opening salvo to the freak dystopian novel we seem to be inhabiting.
Every single person supporting or not actively working to stamp out the Clinton campaign deserves scorn, hatred, and social ostracism.

Yes, I saw photos of the lines still waiting to register
when they went ahead and made the rule change by 'voice vote'. I just went over to DKos and entered about 10 comments to counter the crap they are trying sell about what happened.

In a way the more these events occur
the more Bernie supporters will peel away from the Democratic Party. I have made the decision not to vote Hillary many moons ago, but each time this type of stunt happens more "undecided" voters will go to Trump or Green Party or simply stay home. And I don't think even the Scary Trump will chase most of us back into the fold.
Anyone who continues to cling to the Democratic party
Deserves the screwing they get. Is simple pattern recognition too much to ask?
They will not let Sanders pass, and the authoritarianism they exhibit in pursuit of that goal merely endears them to the center and right, which is a major achievement in the eyes of Clintonites.
They. Don't. Give. A. Shit.
“If there is no justice for the people, may there be no peace for the government.”
I'm not sure it endears them to the right.
Most RW people I talk to are disgusted with these antics.
They may have some horrible ideas, but this sort of fascism isn't among them. They don't like it.
They didn't like Clinton to begin with, and now they like her less.
As for the center, I'm not sure what that is. It seems to be mostly a talking point people like Hillary Clinton use to normalize their horrible ideas and outright crimes.

That was sloppy of me.
I should have said neocons and the Republican business elite. Not that you'll necessarily agree, but I should have been more specific.
Thanks!

Big picture
Yesterday's events will do far more damage to Clinton than they will to Sanders. Everything that feeds the narrative that she is an unprincipled, cheating lowlife only interested in herself narrative is good for us.
Her victory in Nevada is a Pyrrhic one at best. The piddly number of delegates that she gained will not in any way compensate for the fallout from this.
I wouldn't be surprised if this does her huge damage in the upcoming primaries.

I just read this
at Democratic Underground. Well worth the read.
I just read why 64 Bernie NV delegates had their credentials stripped--and I shed a tear or two
