I can't believe this.

Hillary is now going after the chimera known as

moderate, socially liberal Republicans

for donations, see Ask liberal Republicans for support

And turning the Democratic party farther right is, now to TOP, a GOOD thing?

Well, not surprising; Markos always a "liberal Republican" and so are most of the remaining FPs and diarists (except maybe for MB, who probably needs the job).

Sad.

The current working assumption appears to be that our Shroedinger's Cat system is still alive. But what if we all suspect it's not, and the real problem is we just can't bring ourselves to open the box?

A lot of business-oriented Republicans are fairly socially liberal. Much more so than the Trump squad at least.

I replied:

Good point, thanks.

And it’s a good thing that Democrats are looking to business-oriented Republicans for support.

I quite understand, gotta raise as much money as you can, and it doesn’t really matter where it’s coming from.

And of course these “business-oriented Republicans” will never be able to influence democratic policies.

Of course not.

For those who refuse to go to TOP.

Are the Establishment Democrats hypocritically using certain socially liberal issues (you know what I mean) to divert people from real-world economic issues of poverty, income inequality, the 99% getting poorer every year by means of a "shiny object": "But look what we've done for ... x, y, and z demographic!"

You nailed it, imho.

"Oh look, a squirrel" rather than, "historic, life-threatening flooding" and "hundreds of thousands of acres burning due to temps in the 90s in fucking early May, in fucking Canada of all places." Don't forget how much better the economy is now - with all those (minimum wage) jobs we've created. You won't hear them say it, but they're allowing us to eat cake.

I was rather surprised to see that, and I don't mean by a smidgen. I mean quite far left of her, so she sees no problem seeking the approval of those who are politically aligned with her (what we currently call Republicans).

As a good explanation of how we got to where we are today, this article offers some good analysis, including:

Ever since Bill Clinton’s election in 1992, Democrats have been touting their pragmatism and eagerness to work across the aisle with Republicans and those aligned with them, patterning their market-oriented neoliberalism more along the lines of Ronald Reagan than any Democratic predecessor, only to be relentlessly attacked by Republicans in return. Negative partisanship inhibits any Republican gestures toward compromise, rewards intransigence, and helps move the GOP to the right. But, over the long run, negative partisanship moves Democrats right as well, inhibiting criticism from the left on the ground that it “helps Republicans.” The fighting spirit critics exemplify is perceived as Republican-friendly as well. Such arguments preempt serious consideration of the substantive criticisms being made, further consolidating the Democrat’s rightward drift. We’re seeing this dynamic once again in how Sanders’ criticisms of Clinton are being dismissed, not just by her campaign, but by the broader establishment she represents. Thus, negative partisanship has helped shift the entire political spectrum to the right, while increasing the importance of fighting over that of actually governing effectively.[emphasis added]

"You've come a long way, baby"* does not apply to HRC as she has gone backwards. [*annoying but very popular phrase from the 70s used often in regard to the women's movement--but stemmed from a cigarette ad]

What's she spending it on? DNC and PACs are paying her expenses. And she isn't doing that much advertising that I can see. And most of her travel is from one fundraiser to another.

Unless she's trying to replace some laundered funds somewhere.

And then we get to rag on her 'style' without being sexist or being called catty. An especially interesting comment had to do with one of her outfits looking like the one worn by Captain Kangaroo. ;-D

On some CBS Sunday program, glimpsed it before I changed the channel...black pantsuit above and below, white panel from torso to mid thigh.
Anyone who can afford a twelve hundred dollar hair color and hair cut can afford a stylist to tell her that people look heavier on television, and wearing black-white-black on tv makes one resemble an ocean liner.
Not sexist, just the same reason I never wear white shoes.

on her attire, but it just isn't that difficult to look well-turned out. Some of her best friends are world-renown designers. Is she just that hard headed? Arrogant?
Those of us in professional and public jobs often have to do our best on WalMart budgets and resale shops.
"Clothes make the man" applies to women. Women who look silly in their attire just make it harder to be taken seriously.
I have now shown my pettiness, but if Bernie's rumpled suits and wispy hair make headlines, then her Chairman Mao jacket should get a mention.
