Consumers are stupid

It is the same-o'-same-o', slipping and sliding to the bottom. This is an allegorical tale for you to interpret as you wish. See you on the other side.
I stopped by the store a few minutes ago to pick up a few items. One particular item is packaged in two (6 oz. and an 8 oz.) sizes. The larger package proudly proclaimed 33% MORE. True but a few weeks ago that particular package sans "33% MORE" contained 8.2 oz. of the product. So, you might proclaim, "Certainly it is less expensive than before!" I reply, "Surely you jest‽"

I don't even look at prices any more;
I only look at unit prices and if the label doesn't provide that, I whip out my calculator and figure it myself.
It's the only way to shop.

I'd probably buy the 6oz jar
...if they put "25% LESS" on it.

The bargain I keep looking for:
I actually bought some items from a display labeled with the equivalent of "3 for a $1 or 25 cents each". It was different numbers but you get the idea, the discussion at the check-out was interesting (and incredibly funny) to say the least.

An irritating trend I'm noticing is
larger packages of stuff cost more than 2 smaller packages of the same weight.
A trip to the store is a challenge to see how not to get ripped off.
Makes sense since chances are it would have less fat, or gluten.

Hardees had a 1/3lb burger
It was priced less than McDonald's 1/4lb burger, but they had trouble selling them.
When they did a survey to find out why, it was revealed that the average consumer thought it was overpriced. The 1/4lb burger was bigger after all...

Possibly it was considered overpriced
because it would have been overpriced at ANY price. At any time since about 1990, you couldn't pay me to eat a burger from Hardees; even as fast food, they were simply too vile.

If you can't make it as a fast food franchise here you're doing something wrong...
