CBC is pretty much wall to wall coverage now... a whole neighborhood is now gone for sure...and more expected.

The oil camps are sending their workers out by plane to make room for the evacuees. so many are giving out free gas. Would not even think of taking money. Restaurants giving away food...

I thought that's where American's showed up in July with their skis.

This is as much a tragedy of loss as it is about the reality of climate change. I just wish there were candidates addressing this issue.

Oh wait Jill Stein and Bernie Sanders, which according to MSM are "wadja say?"

That is terrifying. Wind-driven crown fire, making it's own wind now. I can imagine the silence in all those fleeing vehicles. Cry later.

Hearing this morning that so far, there have been no injuries due to the fire or the evacuation.

The people have been moved to the Tar Sands oil company camps north of the city. So far...so good.

Reports are that the weather today is going to be worse than yesterday. Winds and high temperatures. No moisture in sight.

trying to help. Volunteers are opening their homes....people are driving the highways with extra gas to help the stranded... Gas stations are open and giving away gas to those who need it as long as the gas lasts, draining their tanks to help out others...

Many shelters are being set up for the pets too.

Really nice... I loved the videos. I have seen swales in use...and they work amazingly well. Can be simple or complicated depending upon what you have to work with. Sometimes just placing brush or even hay bales can slow water down enough for it to sink in.

I listened to one man who is a firefighter say that they had to be pulled off the line. The fire was jumping 50 to 60 yards at a time. They could not keep up and were in danger.

BUT by KEEPING things green one prevents the fires in the first place.
