In a recent thread on Facebook, someone asks, in response to a Nathan Robinson comment arguing that the US is the world's biggest terrorist:
Nathan, how do you suppose you go about reforming the world’s biggest terrorist without dissolving it completely in its current form? Could Nazi Germany be reformed? Can Israel? I think not.
So it seems plain at this point that this is what's happening. The actual Trump agenda is: destroy America, blame the woke people. The elites appear pretty much united around it, eslse they'd get rid of him.
So what would happen after the US is reduced to rubble? Would the states conclude that the only purpose in having a US is to prop up the agendas of malevolent billionaires whose obsessions are Zionism, genocide, AI, profiteering, criminality, kidnaping, concentration camps, anti-education, Epstein Island, Bohemian Grove, Trilateral Commission, CFR and so on? Would they then decide to secede all at once? I could imagine it happening after a nuclear war. What would then happen to the US dollar?

Last time diesel went up
...this way was July 2008. The price went up to 4.70. OTR Shipping basically collapsed for a few days. I remember sitting in a truckstop parking lot that was full for three days. The fourth day orders starting coming on line, as the price began to collapse rapidly. At that time of the July 2008 spike the price had peaked at 145 a barrel. Demand from consumers fell by approximately 10 percent with changes in driving habits. The price of oil per barrel collapse to $40 a barrel by Dec 2008. Producers probably also reacted to the sudden price increase. Production had fallen off somewhat over 2007, and demand had increased with China's growth, becoming at the time a significant part of the world market. The rapid recovery from the spike was based on producers who could respond to demand changes.
Can this happen now? Will it?

comes to pass in about a week. I can understand why they
would park their rigs and wait-out higher prices. As with most things
in trumpets sphere, nothing proactive will be done before crises hits.
People in general are getting fed-up with escalating costs. Spending less
as there is less to spend.

I'm very interested to see what happens. In July 2008, it was strictly an economic thing. Currently, I don't see how they can make any money. This is the independents. The teamster type outfits doing daytrips to local markets tend to be the larger trucking companies everyone is familiar with. But even they rely on OTR trucking subs to deliver to the regional warehouses, and even retail big box stores to fill in the gaps. If the OTR subs strike or stay home, big problems I think. I don't really see how they can make any money at these price levels.
I think a way to see the current impact, would be to go to a big name brand truck stop, near a major market, or on an interstate during midday to see how many parking spaces are left. It should be at least 75 percent empty. Small truck stops are not worth looking at, they are almost always near full. Large truck stops that are full between say 10am and 2pm would indicate deliveries are freezing up.

Sometimes I am tempted to think America is like some kind of civilizational centrifuge: Part of it REALLY IS The Worst Country In The World, and part of it REALLY IS The Best Country In The World.
People are failing to appreciate the true findings of The Great Experiment at the time it matters most.
As I've said before, nearly 350 million people can't all move somewhere else, and just shy of 10 million square kilometers of land isn't going to sink into the sea; from simply a practical standpoint, the extinction of America is a joint-fantasy on the part of oligarchs and their Woke (i.e. 'Religious Right 2.0') footsoldiers alike.
I'd venture to guess what they're really acting like is the disappearance of an America that works for them.
This is a tremendous opportunity; after what I see as 250 straight years of civil war between democratic-republicans and feudalists, we might finally find ourselves in a position to make the vision of the Founding Fathers a reality.

the question of the US is not a question of "the country," but rather a question of being able to distinguish between "the country," which can be just fine at times although its politics are worthless, and the business model being used to run the US government, which is that of Enron.
"the extinction of America" might be a secretly-imagined outcome of the "oligarchs." It might be their notion of what will really happen if they continue upon their policy trajectories. In the diary here, I am referring to what I and others view as a more likely outcome, in which "America" still exists but the existence of the US is thrust into doubt. People wouldn't move, but they'd have to deal with the evaporation of the current scene.
Moonbat, did you ever read Aldous Huxley's "After Many a Summer"? I thought it would be a novel you'd be amused to read.

So here's Alastair Crooke to spell it out for you:

Alastair Crooke does not go into further details. But all of the other countries of the world are going to arrive, slowly but surely, at the opinion that the US needs to be put down like it was an incurably rabid dog. So what happens if they do this, and the US obliges with an "implosion"? Do not be fooled by the fact that this "implosion" is a slow, careful process. It is happening right now. Trump is merely accelerating it.
