Album of the Week 9-19-26

Afternoon folks!
There's some interesting stuff to listen to this weekend here, starting off with what is arguably Jimmy Witherspoon's best album followed by a great compilation of recordings of Chicago Jazz and blues outfit, The Harlem Hamfats with vocalist Rosetta Howard - give it a shot. After that is a zydeco album from Boozoo Chavis and then it's on to blues rock with albums from Canned Heat and Roy Buchanan. Finishing off is a really solid album from The Radiators.

Am nowhere near your level of musical knowledge

but have been around enough to recognize good
zydeco when I hear it. Was always impressed by the cajuns'
ability to self organize into "two step" lines and circles in the
various dance halls thru-out the bayou region.
You have the pulse of blues
musicians down to a science as well.

zydeco being played on the stage
is like some vibration through your body. True zydeco is repetitive. A musician pal said it was boring, since i not the 1/4/5/1 musical chords of rock and roll. Well, I said, be patient. You hear it, then again, then again, and by the time the song is over, you either feel you have been plugged into some electric cord, or you have a problem with oral and musical history.I don't know, but I hear a zydeco riff, love it, and the band plays it again, I love it more, and on and on.
