Friday Night Photos County Fair Edition pt1
Happy Friday everyone. Welcome to Friday Night Photos your once a week escape from the day to day insanity of the world we live in. Post any photos, memes, music or whatever else you find of interest that helps tune out the madness.
Two weeks ago myself along with three other members of the camera club I'm in along with members of ten other clubs were at the county fairs photo contest/exhibition representing our clubs. The contest is one of the largest in the country. This year over 4700 photos were submitted across 34 different categories of which about 1400 were selected . You can submit up to twenty photos. There is a $20 entree fee for every photo you submit. There are cash prizes for 1st-4th place for every category plus best in show. The contest is multi tiered. For tier 1 you submit a jpeg file that is judged by three judges. If your image or images are excepted you have two weeks to print, mount and mat your photos for tier 2 judging. Those that pass tier 2 muster are then hung in the exhibition hall for the length of the fair. This year the fair opened on June 10th and runs through July 5th. I'd love to show some of the outstanding photos in the contest, but photography is not allowed in the photo exhibit.
So tonight and the next few Fridays I will be posting scenes from the fair.
Tonight's focus is on animals at the fair. Some are there to entertain and some are there to be judged.

Looks like fun. We have an
annual fundraising event where you buy a chance on
a square in a field. Cows are let out of the pen and if one
poops in your square, you win a prize. Not quite as exciting
as pig races but the jokes are pretty good in anticipation.

cockatiel!!! Did it win anything? Great photos and some are funny, too. Swifty the swimmimg pig...too much.
And don't forget the turkeys! LOL. Those goat head shots deserve a special mention, too. You can't show us the prize winning pics, but can you describe them? I know where I would be headed at a county fair: anything with a horse in it. Excellent pick-me-ups for this meh! day. Right now, it's 83 here in downtown O-ville. Will hit around 91 plus the usual high humidity. No storms in the forecast though they've got a monster in the far Pacific. It's getting set to slam right into Guam and the Mariana Islands. Category 5-plus. Nooo thanks!! Gonna be a peaceful cookout day here. Hope the same for you guys. Anywho, Rec'd!!

The cockatiel was part of the Parrots of the Caribbean act, so it wasn't being judged. Even if I could describe them, 1400 photos across 34 different categories is too many. I was disappointed there were no equestrian events this year. Mid 80s and cloudy here today. Stay cool and enjoy your cookout.

The variety of activities and photographic possibilities is exceptional in the San Diego area. I love the sweet goat portraits, and the human expression you caught between the milking goats. Great song to accompany the theme, and I’m glad you have more parts of the county fair to share.

There's so much to see and do at the fair I couldn't fit it in all in one visit (I went three times) or one edition of FNP.
