Trump administration wants to fast-track executions with electrocution, firing squads, lethal gas
The Trump administration wants to shorten the appeals process for people sentenced to death and add firing squads, electrocution and gas asphyxiation as methods of execution, the Department of Justice announced in a report on Friday.
The report is the latest development in the Trump administration’s long campaign to execute as many people as possible. In the report, acting Attorney General Todd Blanche boasted of the execution spree President Donald Trump carried out during his first term. After a long de facto moratorium on federal executions, Trump oversaw 13 killings in his final six months before leaving office. In 2024, his successor, President Joe Biden, commuted the death sentences of 37 of the 40 people on federal death row during his final days in office, leaving Trump — who openly fantasized about carrying out another rash of executions — with a nearly empty federal death row.
Meanwhile, the news offers several accounts of specific psycho-religious crap jammed down the throats of GIs while "religious" images of Armageddon are becoming more and more common. My fave has Jesus riding a cloud while shooting a machine gun at heathens.
It is both easy and useful to point out Trump's culpability for working this cult and it is very possible that his mental illness has promoted him from con man to insanity. But what of his die-hard supporters? I dissent from the common diagnosis of this bizarre cult as being simply stoopid.
We have a death cult among us, folks who lust after the power trip of homicide.

is likely innocent. In a firing squad, one shooter is given a blank. None of the shooters know if they participated in the killing for certain, so PtSD is a bit lower for them. As for the person who flips the switch to electrocute a person strapped to a chair, their rate of going insane is pretty damn high. A co-worker in an office in Huntsville, TX, where death penalties take place in "The Walls Unit", and where "Old Sparky" was employed, was raised by a father who was the switch flipper. The prison system supplied him with booze, got him drunk, and he never exactly knew what he was doing, until, of course, he sobered up. He drank himself to death. Prisoners guarding death row inmates have a high rate of suicide.
Let Trump flip the switch, and let him live and die with the consequences.

My Uncle Jack used to say, "people are no damned good." Not everybody gets off on executions, but I suspect that a high percentage of MAGA freaks do.

being friends or admiring anyone who advocated killing people. Hegseth insists our troops be more lethal, that killing is their goal. Just kill everything that moves, soldiers!
Yes, Old Sparky did its' part in keeping The Niggras in their proper place at the end of the line, picking cotton, pulling corn, at slave wages. Even some of my old class mates from high school to this day will have nothing to do with blacks and still fly rebel flags.

Plus, with squeamish human beings out of the loop, we can program the bot to give the miscreants the existential punishment they deserve. I'm picturing a bot-lion that devours the enemy of God.

There is a German comedian, “El Hotzo”, who approves that sort of thing — or at least publicly expresses regret at assassination attempts having failed.
Thinking one can combat a death cult by valorizing — and even massively scaling up — violent death is the story of the 20th century and early 21st, and is not particularly funny, creative, or interesting.
