Peace talks ended and bombing on tap. Our Loonie Toons leader:

“There are reports that Iran is charging fees to tankers going through the Hormuz Strait — They better not be and, if they are, they better stop now!” Trump posted Thursday on Truth Social.

So, I guess the demolition of Iran's power plants and desalination facilities will be done by nightfall. Their civilization will be destroyed by tomorrow morning. And Russia and China will nuke us by Tuesday.

Homo sapiens? Been around too long.

Other predictions?

Maybe Trump will wimp out. Easy money to be made buying in during the panic he is causing today and selling back when the final peace "deal" gets made. Not much profit in Armageddon.

(Headline USA) President Donald Trump on Sunday said the U.S. Navy would “immediately” begin a blockade to stop ships from entering or leaving the Strait of Hormuz, after historic U.S.-Iran ceasefire talks in Pakistan ended without an agreement or next diplomatic steps in sight.

In his first public comments after the 21-hour talks, Trump sought to exert strategic control over the waterway that was responsible for the shipping of 20% of global oil supplies before the war, hoping to eliminate Iran’s key source of leverage.

A U.S. blockade could further rattle global energy markets and prices for oil, natural gas and related products. It was not immediately clear how it might be carried out, but Trump told Fox News the goal was to ensure all ships could transit: “It’s going to be all or none, and that’s the way it is.”

Trump said he has “instructed our Navy to seek and interdict every vessel in International Waters that has paid a toll to Iran. No one who pays an illegal toll will have safe passage on the high seas.” Other nations would be involved in the blockade, he said, but did not name them.

Obvious question: What will the US Navy do with the chickenshit tankers who pay up to Iran? Sink them? Board them and steal the vessels?

Gotta give Trump credit where credit is due -- the all-time champion of chutzpah. And non-sequiturs.

My best guess as to the rationale he will offer --This will deter ship owners from giving money to Iran, eventually inducing whoever is the next Hed Guy of Iran to quit charging the toll.

Or he is trying to get them to die laughing.

that the US will blockade the straits to all traffic, but, also, that it will be an international or multinational blockade.

Since it is relatively certain that we won't get in range of the straits proper, presumably this will be piracy on the high seas such as we did with VZ.

knowing you all. But when we finally do get nuked because of whatever latest atrocity is delivered supposedly in our names and supposedly with our approval, I will at least have the balm (if not the blessing) of knowing that we as a society apparently deserve it- by tacitly not stopping it.

This is all a bridge much too far, and none of us here could have changed this course: it was set long ago, by the Dulles and their ilk. And vote as we will, the outcome is long since baked in; regardless of which redblue bluered psychopath is in power.

Or, on the other hand, we could “win” (according to the Orange Fart Cloud and his current bluered redblue supporters). And under the current rules of engagement, I find that I might fear that even worse than temporarily assuming the plasma state.

At least the latter would be quick. Still, overall: not a fan.

the Chinese will ultimately escort their shipping with naval warcraft. But they have a lot of strategic storage of oil, something like a years worth.
I don't think our blockade can last that long.
Our navy would fall apart in shitty laundry fires and running into each other inside of two months.

There is a persistent thought throughout the comments that the stock market can flip Trump's switch from what he says in the morning to what he says in the evening after his close friends and family make their money trading stocks. Well, has anyone here heard of a billionaire who has ever said, "Ok, you can stop, I've made enough money" ? For them, it is never enough.

Suppose Captain Whateverthefuck of the Asiatic tanker denies paying up? "Me no Alamo!" Does the American naval officer show the captain aerial video of an Iranian boat pulling up next to his tanker and then speeding off to Kargh Island?

Or does our navy simply steal the tanker and sail it to Louisiana?

The weirder his jibberish gets, the more relieved I get. Whether he is his own crazy nightmare or the tool of somebody else, this cringe worthy craziness from Trump is far more absurd than his previous incarnations. Collectively, the rest of humanity has no reason to let him destroy civilization.

The reference below to the “repercussions” suffered by the Korean people as a result of Israel’s war, and Israel’s refusal to end the war, is the key point here. If Lebanese or Palestinian civilians were the only ones hurt, countries will condemn that but move along. Now *they* are getting hurt too and Israel does not seem to realize how isolated they are:

@QMS as this global crisis continues, sane people should consider the political fact of April 2026:

Donald Trump owns this war. Based on his own nonstop parade of lies, this war is about HIM and his WILLPOWER. OK, asshole, you broke it, you bought it.

Although my usual response to "news" is to ignore personalities and concentrate on actions: "Deal with the deed not the dude," I think the best way to oppose this war is to focus on TRump himself and his obvious mental infirmity.

Consider this: First Trump throws a fit over Iran blocking the Strait. Then Trump blocks the straight himself.

What level of sophistication is necessary to see the logical flaw?

Yes, China and whoever the fuck will give him plenty of shit over this fit of pique. That road ends with WW III. Or we could pull the plug here in the good old USA.

Very specifically, the People of the USA can demand that this evil, insane project stop. It does not matter who pulled Trumps strings. The war has to stop. Sure, Zionists are pushing the lies rationalizing this clusterfuck. That is the truth. But that begs an argument that we don't need to have with Trump begging for getting impeached and jailed. What we need is clarity on the moral and tactical travesty of this war.

If any individual would rather emphasize the zionist dimension, that is ok with me.
