Critics Hammer Trump Admin’s ‘Taxpayer Funded Bribe’ to Kill Massive Wind Energy Project
~
~

Critics slammed the Trump administration on Monday after it announced a deal to pay almost $1 billion to a French energy company to cancel its plans to construct wind farms across the eastern US.

“$1 billion of our tax dollars to kill a clean energy program that creates jobs, just so Trump’s Big Oil donors can make more profit.”

“The most corrupt presidency ever—and it’s not even close.”

The Norwegian company World Wide Wind (WWW) and Metal Industries Research & Development Center (MIRDC) of Taiwan, have entered into a technical cooperation agreement with the aim to further develop and verify the WWW CRAFT-turbine (Counter Rotating Axis Floating Tilted turbine). The aim is to provide full technical verification for global markets and cater for specific metocean conditions in Taiwanese waters.

The Hywind project involved lifting and mounting five floating offshore wind turbines Saipem has successfully installed for Equinor the world's first floating wind farm located 30 km off the coast of Scotland.

Guess who has the most offshore wind farms in the world? That would be China (of course) with 138.
The next closest country is UK with 51. US is way down on the list with 3. I find the concept of
floating towers intriguing. It would require a major anchor but simpler than to build a platform.

Well, that's it. Hope y'all can add to the conversation today on whatever pops-up.

Trying to parse thru the confusion of the latest US invasion
in Western Asia. It appears US and Israel have different objectives.
US is attempting energy control while the Zion regime wants to
conquer the peoples and lands in the region. Tweedle Dee and
Tweedle Dum. These two regimes have death and destruction
down to an art form. What will be the results? The answer is
blowing in the wind.

I plan to finish up the last of the winter mowing today. I thought I would burn this patch sometime during the winter, but we've been too dry.

Already got the garden going...cabbage, broccoli, greens, and so on.

Look for more war insanity and US soldiers on the ground this weekend. I hope I'm wrong.

Take care and thanks for the OT!

Still flirting with freezing temps here, probably
won't get into planting for another month. But
we do have plenty of mud! Mud pies, mud cakes,
mud smoothies and boots stuck in the ground.
The basement sumps are making ponds out front.
This is typical for this time of year.

Enjoy the spring!

@QMS Tucker Carlson interviews this historian because he’s impressed with the accuracy of his previous predictions. One assertion the guy makes is that if USreal ultimately prevails, Israel will then force the U.S. from the Mideast. Which makes sense since it is the “Greater Israel” project. Interesting thought—could Israel be devious enough to toss us aside when they’re done using us?

He thinks this war could drag on for many years. So if the current peace talks are successful, perhaps we can disregard what he says.

They discuss cultural identities and futures of many countries. A little over an hour…

succeed in their project to

@QMS “ Positively, and showing official denials don’t mean much, the US is negotiating with some in Tehran - though do they speak for a fracturing regime? It has sent a 15-point plan to end the war, according to Reuters, with Ghalibaf and foreign minister Araghchi reportedly told they won’t be killed while talks are ongoing(!) The first round is pencilled in by Thursday in Pakistan: Iran just said they don’t want to talk to Witkoff and Kushner, preferring anti-neocon VP Vance.”

The US is going backwards.
I try to imagine a world where the sun and the wind, both inexhaustible sources, power the world.
China is again leading the way https://www.yicaiglobal.com/news/china-launches-worlds-first-over-10000-... with innovative solutions in their bid to rid themselves of coal and oil powered energy production.
The Chinese city that built this ship produced 150 new ships last year, 50 of witch (H/t DJT) were electric, hydrogen or nat gas powered.
Just one city!
And we taxpayers are spending 1 billion dollars to shut down a wind farm.
Thanks for the OT.

are quietly going about their business installing more renewables. This Iran BS will be helping in a perverse way. Watch for folks posting about nuclear and geothermal, too. I don't like nuke power cos they still have not developed a surefire way to eliminate the radioactive waste. Hubster, Beagles and I are hunkered down in our ECFL retirement casa. Hope all stays well with you. Rec'd!!

Russia has developed a way to reuse nuclear waste to still produce power, witch (H/T DJT) reduces waste to minuscule amounts.
IIRC, the nuclear material that Hillary thought she was pawning off on Russia was actually being reconstituted into fuel by new Russian breakthrough technology.
We have the stupidest leaders in the universe.

I know it may be too early in the morning for this but I know a service member whose family is being affected by the subject addressed in the BP video below. They have two young children. I hope he's not on his way over there.

Florida is having a drought. It's pretty bad. Been stocking up on water. They're saying it could be a couple of months before we get some relief. From floods to drought. What's next? I don't know many people, but I know a family affected by the TSA funding cutoff as well.

@soryang you may have caught aurelien's comment in Yves Smith's blog Naked Capitalism --Yves Smith certainly did:

Whenever you come across what seems like a really insane political initiative, the question to ask is not “what is thus intended to accomplish?” but rather “what is this intended to avoid?” As I wrote a couple of weeks ago, most historical disasters have come about not because the plan was good but because the alternative was worse.

The option of declaring victory and leaving is not open, because it’s the Iranians who will decide when and if the war stops. That leaves only two options: a humiliating climbdown, or something, anything, that will keep the conflict going, buy time, divert attention from Iranian missile attacks and just conceivably string things out until the regime collapses, as the Mossad still thinks it will, apparently. Since the first is impossible, the second selects itself. Bear in mind that it could be stretched over several weeks, as forces arrive and assemble, a few daring small-scale raids are carried out and more threats and promises are made. It’s the choice between certain failure and probable failure. Anything that keeps the ball in the air will do.

This seems to me to be a rather persuasive characterization of what the US is doing in Iran now. What do you think?

@Cassiodorus

Avoidance, diversion, stumbling onward. Sounds reasonable. I identified as many as twelve separate impulses leading to this course of action in its entirety about three weeks ago, but avoided publishing it.

I hesitate to identify those factors because I think anyone who observes the overall world geopolitical situation can identify them if they have any experience with these matters. Some of these are not in the nature of avoidance but the standard structural grift factors, fashionable but out of date "Orientalist" strategic theories and practice, institutional competition for resources, the DUMPEX, etc.

I agree with the analysis in the video above, but the entire geopolitical context needs further exploration. I have mentioned Iran's strategic depth in the past, and identified the new nature of aerospace warfare in my reviews and reports on North Korean aerospace from open sources over the past several years. Obviously, some people saw this coming miles away. Weichert correctly evaluates that the risk of the use of nuclear weapons as great. I've talked of the dead hand, or doomsday defense to nuclear attack/decapitation in the North Korean context. Mosaic is just a permutation of this. Decapitation and "tactical nuclear strike" are directly related to each other in the Korean peninsula context. This is why even the most conservative experts on North Korea rejected the so called bloody nose option, which was raised during the first Trump administration.

I took note of William Arkin's speculation of the role of the W-76-2 warhead in 2020. Biden had a boomer visit South Korea during the heyday of the "trilateral alliance" he was promoting. (US/Japan/Korea).

Gen Brunson USFK

US Chinese standoff over West Sea, these below are few weeks old, but I think relevant-

South Korean MBCNews report on US-Chinese air confrontation over West Sea. US fighter aircraft launched from Osan AFB, South Korea. The report alleges that the South Korean military and government were not given any notice before the "exercise" was initiated and carried out over two days, before they objected. The report says the fighter aircraft were carrying live rather than inert air to air missiles. The video associated with the report is using file footage at least in part, I think. I'm posting this so people can hear General Brunson's remarks in English. I'm hoping the English translator works on the video. I'll give it a try.

US Deploys New Low-Yield Nuclear Submarine Warhead

Though almost all of the discussion about the new W76-2 has focused on Russia scenarios, it is much more likely that the new low-yield weapon is intended to facilitate first-use of nuclear weapons against North Korea or Iran. The National Security Strategy and the NPR both describe a role for nuclear weapons against “non-nuclear strategic attacks, and large-scale conventional aggression.” And the NPR explicitly says the W76-2 is intended to “expand the range of credible U.S. options for responding to nuclear or non-nuclear strategic attack.” Indeed, nuclear planning against Iran is reportedly accelerating, B-2 bomber attacks are currently the force allocated but the new W76-2 is likely to be incorporated into U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) war planning.

"We'll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false." ---- William Casey, CIA Director, 1981

The rest of the tweet:

There is no reason to allow our enemy to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.

The countries in the region had said verbally that they would not allow the US to use our land against Iran, but in practice, this happened. We cannot believe that this issue occurred without the knowledge of these countries.

Our message to the countries of the region is not to allow their land, airspace, and sea to be used against us; we do not attack neighboring countries, only American bases and interests. Even in war, we attacked infrastructures whose shareholders are American.

Anyone who participates in an attack on Iran will be a legitimate target of Iran's attacks.

The US bases have been established to support Israel, and the US will sacrifice all the countries in the region to support the Zionists; I hope the countries of the region realize this.
