Weathering Changes

Open Thread Image.jpg

It is summer in Alabama, but until this week it has been very moderate. Last week the furnace kicked on. I've been going out about 6 AM, doing chores, and back in by 9 AM or so. Looks like another week of it. But there's plenty of other changes to weather as well. We call it adventures in aging. Learning to adapt to my new found limitations. The old gray matter just ain't what it used to be, nor my strength and stamina. Then, we have the decline of the US empire and the ensuing economic consequences. Every week there are more and more items missing from the grocery shelves, and gas is back on the rise. Fortunately we are adaptable creatures. Given the future we're looking toward, we will have to learn to adapt to many new challenges. This weeks news and more below the fold...

Already August?

Open Thread Image.jpg

The wheel of the year seems to spin ever faster. It is the time of the Caesar's. We left Julius month and are now into Augustus month, the only two 31 day months back to back. Augustus brought on the end of the Roman Republic and the start of the Roman empire, and Julius played his part as well. Perhaps this August we're witnessing the end of the US empire? The D.C. egos will have a difficult time accepting loses in two wars. I suspect we accelerate our terrorism and covert actions around the world in an attempt to suppress the rise of BRICS+ since we seem incapable of doing it militarily. It's ironic, we declare war on terrorism and become the world's biggest terrorist. Well, on we go through time, and the world is changing quickly. More about those changes below the fold.

Dog Days of Summer

open thread.jpg

You might have heard the hottest days of summer referred to as the dog days of summer … but where did this term come from? It turns out they come from an ancient belief about a star – the brightest star in the sky – Sirius in the constellation Canis Major. Sirius is also called the Dog Star. And the ancient Egyptians believed that when Sirius rose at the same time as the sun, the double whammy of Sirius and the sun caused the hot weather. Voila. Dog days!
According to the National Weather Service:
The “dog days of summer” is a phrase used to describe the hot and humid days of summer. It can be traced back thousands of years to the days of the Roman Empire. It refers to the dates from July 3 through August 11, which is 20 days prior and 20 days after the star Sirius rises and falls in conjunction [sharing the same spot in our sky] with the sun. Sirius was known as the “Dog Star,” because it is the brightest star in the constellation Canis Major (Large Dog).

China in the Crosshairs?

Open Thread Image.jpg

In Trump's speech last Thursday he accuses China of election interference in 2020. He continued by saying the deep state was covering up China's breech of votes. "The cover-up of this colossal security breach is even more disturbing in light of the additional information showing that China engaged in other election related activities to undermine my first administration and our 2020 campaign...“the strategy included efforts to use Chinese contacts with big US companies to influence US business leaders to turn against the president of The United States of America.” ." But have no fear, we don't pull those sorts of stunts on China (and everyone else). So are we going from Russiagate to Chinagate? Sure seems so. Perhaps as OTC's meme yesterday suggests "another distraction for the Epsteinth time", this is just a distraction from the the Iran War and the coming economic catastrophe. Is this a way to invalidate the upcoming mid-term elections? Or, is the Don trying to set up yet another war with China? We know that is the ultimate goal of the Epstein class oligarchs.

The Disunited Empire of America

Open Thread Image.jpg

A couple of weeks ago PR added a comment saying 250 years is the average life span of empire. I guess we've arrived. The nation is locked in perpetual war against other countries and our own citizens. The constitution is ignored especially the bill of rights. The nation seems to be under the control of Israel as a bill works its way through congress to unite the US military with Israel's. The petrodollar is on its last leg as nations around the world divest of US dollars and bonds. We're not just a nation divided, we're an empire divided. Much more below the fold...

Sitting on a Powder Keg

Open Thread Image.jpg

Things are very tenuous around the world, and there are two major hot spots. Western Asia remains volatile with with back and forth firing between Iran and the US...both claiming the other is breaking the ceasefire. Israel continues to occupy Lebanon and attack Hezbollah. The US and Israeli puppets that run the Lebanese government signed away their sovereignty. I don't think Hezbollah will comply, Israel sure isn't. The Ukraine proxy war accelerates with drone strikes targeting Russia with a focus on Crimea. Russian troops are steadily advancing toward the Dnieper. The question remains, will Russia target the drone manufacturing facilities in Europe? Meanwhile the entire world faces an economic disaster with the continued closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

Riding Trump's War and Peace Seesaw

Open Thread Image.jpg

The week began with bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran (John McCain's wet dream), then suddenly the mantra shifted to we have a peace deal. Interesting this happened Thursday as the markets were about to close on Friday. There's been plenty of market manipulation and profit taking during this absurd war of choice. Russia continues its advance in Ukraine as the Ukrainians continue lobbing drones at civilian targets. The question is does Russia strike those drone making facilities in the EU which are supplying them to Ukraine? This week also saw the removal of Trump's name on the Kennedy Center, and at least a hold on Kushner's Epstein Island 2.0 in Albania. And then we have the World Cup games in the US where we are really flying our racist flag. The treatment of the Iranians, the Somalians, and other countries has been horrid and shameful. All that and more below the fold...

The Looming Economic Disaster

Open Thread Image.jpg

The impact of the Hormuz blockade has yet to be really felt. Countries have been tapping into (and not refilling) their strategic reserves. Somehow the market has been manipulated to maintain $100/barrel oil prices, but not for long. Even if the Hormuz was opened back up tomorrow, there will be long term consequences...and it isn't just oil.

Admitting Defeat?

Open Thread Image.jpg

We clearly lost the wars in Vietnam and Afghanistan, and I would argue we've lost the Ukraine proxy war and the war with Iran. We should cut our losses and minimize the chaos, death, and destruction that has become the US trademark and make some sort of peace. However, our ego (and Zionists and MIC handlers) won't allow it. No, we're going to play out our role as the black knight, and go down swinging.

Happy Easter, Passover, and Spring

Open Thread Image.jpg

Here in NE Alabama the spring rebirth is well underway. I barely got my pruning done in time. We planted one batch of tomatoes last week, and I'm getting in a few more today before a much needed rain this evening. So, spring has sprung and we're off to the race to maintain the homestead. It's busy season, but we're in good shape for a change. However we are very dry, especially for this time of the year. We'll get to the news below the fold.
