Peaceful morning

Open Thread Image_0.jpg
Good morning everyone.
Got a late start today, so will have only a brief note to get started.
Our "peace president" seems ready to bring his brand of "peace" to Iran at any time now.
I can only imagine how the planning sessions go at the Pentagon with all the branches of military wanting to "get sum" and show their relevancy.
The Navy always at the forefront, will surround them with Carrier Battle Groups and flood their skies with warplanes and our escort destroyers will lob tons of missiles into the mix".
The Air Force will sneak in from Missouri with some bombers, they will never expect that!
The Marines will just insist on being dropped off at the beach and they will take care of the problem.
The Army will still be getting ready. And the space force will watch closely from above and advise.
But everyone will get a shot at glorious war and show how useful tax dollars can be spent.
And did I mention bringing peace?
Quite foggy this morning. But dry and cool.
Thread is open. Watcha got going on?

the Smedley Butler book "War is a Racket".
Either way, it's still triggering.
Have a great day. Thanks for stopping by.

plus all of the routine stuff like feeding birds and such. Also packing for early Sat Morning escape for a week (but Monday OT already queued up, so it's ok).

Saw a headline that said those who dirink 2 to 3 cups of coffee or tea per day have a 15 to 20% lower risk of dementia. Mr doctor says cut back to one cuppa, and no doubt includdes tea, though that wasn't specified. Sounds like it's time to go back to drinking yerba mate' all day.

Made sourdough sandwich rolls Sunday and they came out great, so today (tonight) I will try using all purpose flout instead of bread flour. This could be a game changer for me. If that works, I can try skipping the overnight rise (recipe says this can be done) and have a snadwich and/or dinner roll recipe that is only about 4 hours from start to consumption.

Still minimizing news consumption, but I have plenty of garden related projects I can get into such as making ollas to take care of root level watering and such, pus time to clear out inboxes, e-trash recepticals, postal mail and all that crap.

Meanwhile, I saw a headline says a cuple of storms lining up offshore which will need pereusal, especially with travel in the offing.

@enhydra lutris
told me to cut out all caffeine. I presume that means dark chocolate also.
I've read the same studies regarding coffee and dementia and am confused as to which way to go.
I saw a study linking reduced dementia with the consumption of dark chocolate also.
Maybe value in moderation of both? And I think tea has minimal caffeine.
We are getting ready to go up to the farm and work on the garden for a couple of days. Moving dirt.
Thanks for the post.

many innocent lives will be lost on both sides due to Israel's controlling influence on US policy.

The rest of the tweet:

The United States maintains air bases across the region that could be used in the event of war. The US fleet alone is not the core of its military power; the surrounding network of bases is.

Therefore, a regional war may be closer than ever. I hope I am wrong.

have moved warships close to the US carrier fleet and gulf bases, forcing the US to conserve ammo to protect their fleet and bases.
They will only be able to fire a minimal amount of ordnance.

@QMS

that we have a metric shitload of our very expensive and extremely hard-to-replace, long-lead-time war materiel siting in big piles on just a handful of bases in the neighborhood, as well as a sizeable fraction of the aircraft used to get it there, and an even more sizeable fraction of the fighter/attack aircraft that would be necessary to deliver said war materiel to its final destinations.

If we rattle our sabers just right, a putative enemy might just decide that the outcome most likely to favor them in any hypothetical conflict would be delivered by destroying that stuff on the ground, before we can get our ducks into a row to launch our inevitable attack.

I fear that Our Betters are thinking that we have them cowering in the corner, quaking (and paralyzed) with fear. However, I believe that we would do well to consider what cornered animals often do when they realize that the upcoming, unavoidable fight will be to the death. A first strike against our installations is eminently possible here.

I will not be surprised if the news stories the day after our glorious attack contain some variation on the usual "But nobody could have foreseen..." trope. We can be surprised, and I suspect that we will. Speaking strictly for myself, I have zero faith in the National Command Authority's ability to find his navel with his index finger, let alone run a war such as this one will become- or to listen to the advice of his commanders.

This will be a war of choice. It is still avoidable. We did not, do not, and should never need to be here. This is madness.

under much stress this afternoon.
Somehow, a little regional conflict is made to sound so much better than a world war.
Maybe 10 months ago, a young woman fresh out of high school enlisted in the Army, as the only job around here was cashier at the grocery store. I hope she gets assigned to some Army safe position and never sees a bomb dropped or a soldier or civilian blown to bits.
We have ruined the future for our youth.
Peace out, e1!

for the moment. Any attack will lead to iran hammering Israel and they are not currently prepared to withstand such an attack. He may consider some sort of temporizing while uparming to be a better course.
