Album of the Week 8-3-24
Afternoon folks!
There hasn't been a lot of uploading going on since I went to the beach this week, but I have managed to get a little bit together for you. First, there's an early 70's album from harmonica player Wild Child Butler and an album from old-school blues guitarist Arbee Stidham. You heard some of Arbee's early guitar work last week on some of the cuts of the 1940's Sonny Terry album (which also featured Woodie Guthrie). After that local (to me) artists The Nighthawks contribute an album followed by Roomful of Blues. We finish off (if the code works, my other youtube account was acting funny) with an early 70's album from Screamin' Jay Hawkins.
Enjoy the tunes and have a great weekend!
Here 'tis:
Wild Child Butler ~ Keep On Doing What You're Doing
Arbee Stidham ~ My Heart Belongs To You
The Nighthawks ~ Open All Nite
Roomful of Blues - Hot Little Mama!
Screamin' Jay Hawkins ~ My Little Shop Of Horrors

The area where the American public does have
.
....some influence is in domestic politics, mostly at the state level.
The bad stuff happening globally is controlled by the Neocon-controlled Federal Coup government, operating out of the State Department, the Pentagon, and the White House. The American people have no influence here, no control. Electing a President doesn't matter. The insane, sociopathic, anti-communist, anti-socialist, Russophobic, NATO-NAZI-centric, Global-Supremest, Corporatist, Neocon international policies will continue.
No Presidential election will change that. The US congress is demonstratively bought and paid for. As I said awhile back, I don't see either Biden or Trump in the final race. And even that will make no difference. So, the question is, are we using our energies and advantages efficiency? Are we concentrating on the right issues? Because we are way out in front of what's going on. As we have been for nearly a decade.

I thought this was an amazing conversation.
.
The video below is a new one. It's the second half of a conversation with Richard Wolff that really surprised me with new insights about the rapidly declining US economy, and the potential threat of hyper-inflation. Another big surprise is the Leftist movement that is sweeping through the national elections in Europe and the UK. This sudden rise of the Left is just not on my radar. The news and analysis of these events is not discussed in the US news. Or is it?
Could these Leftist election results throughout the European Union influence the coming US elections? That's tough to imagine, since unlike the nations in Europe, the US does not have a Political party that represents the Left or workers. I found it all very stimulating. If you watch, weigh in with your impressions.

evening pluto...
thanks for the video! i enjoyed wolff's presentation, but i have my doubts about the u.s. left getting it together. i see only one possibility for the american left this time around which would involve a youth movement gelling behind the campaign of jill stein as an anti-war candidate with the most ballot access. i have my doubts as to whether such a movement could drag stein through the goal line, however.
everything wolff said has merit. the u.s. economy does appear to be headed down the tubes, it is following the general outlines of an empire on its way down and the powers that be are doing none of the possible things to engineer a softer landing.
Exactly. There's no preparation at all going on
...in the US to protect the people from extreme adversity. But, then, we're run by the Gaza crowd. The government is permanently captured. But that was a really strong trend during the Bernie phenomenon, so a popular push to the left like the EU experienced (that is violently crushed) would wake a lot of people up. A lot of young people.
I'm going to prep, but, I'm getting my papers in order, as well. It's not enough to be on the right side of history anymore. I'm not going to sit through an economic collapse with crazy clueless people. There are much better places to be, and many more interesting things to do.

Screamin' Jay Hawkins
Hi Joe,
LOVE that Screamin' Jay Hawkins album. That was fantastic. He was really something. Quite the artist.
Thanks!
