We have a system of everything from Ibuprofen to MRI's having incredible markups and healthcare is rationed by ability to pay. This system is based on the same business model, even though non profit, as outlined in the tax code with the stipulation that profits be dealt with differently than for profit businesses. We know this, but can't seem to change it.

What I'm saying is....we have plenty of information. Even the lack of it informs us, dogs that don't bark, the pause, then scramble that happens while our leaders scheme their responses to crisis. I don't know if we are powerless, neutered, or if we have any path to change but we're getting better at smelling bullshit day by day.

I'd like to remind everybody that the above enunciates the absolute test of legitimacy, only such governments as govern by and according to the will of the people are legitimate. Since we are never meaningfully consulted on anything, and our wishes, when we express them are consistently ignored, our government is illegitimate. Accordingly we need, if only for the record, to express this early and often. Simply periodically publicly declare that "I don't consent to this government" or this war, or this law or regulation, etc.

What’s less known is that the military has a program that subsidizes these efforts. A new Quincy Institute report I co-authored with Ben Freeman, director of QI’s Democratizing Foreign Policy program, provides the first ever in-depth look into a Pentagon program that gives big businesses a unique avenue for influencing senior military policymakers.

Each year, the Pentagon sends military officers to work for major corporations through the Secretary of Defense Executive Fellows (SDEF) program. The intention is for fellows to gather insights about how these companies are organized and then present their findings to high-ranking military officials, along with recommendations for reforms that the military should consider.
