A peek into TOP - primary straw poll

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2016/04/12/1514376/-For-old-time-s-sake-le...

Offered without lingering comment.

Here's the title: For old times' sake, let's do a Democratic Party straw poll

Here's the first paragraph:

I quit running these polls because of the primary math, but since this thing continues to linger, why not revisit community sentiment and spark yet another tiresome pie war that’ll change exactly zero minds? I know, I know, you’re thinking, "What’s the point now that Chafee isn’t running?” I hear you, I really do, but regardless, I’ll soldier on.

Result at 9:30 on 4/13:
(Originally, it posted at 3:16 on 4/12/)

Hillary Clinton 47% (7181 votes)
Bernie Sanders 52$ (7946 votes)
Other 1% (83 votes)
No Freakin' Clue 1% (207 votes)

I'll wager a lot of Bernie votes have already left Kos...(what is TOP ?). I like a lot of the posters there (Dallasdoc, MB, crashing Vor...) but I am not gonna stay when I have been uninvited. Besides, if it's going from electing better Dems to Party echo chamber I don't need it.

Dallas Doc is here and so is MB. IMO, Kos published that poll to see if he had finally driven enough of Bernie's support off the site. Since Bernie still wins, he'll have to work even harder. All the new users on the rec list is on purpose. I have never seen new users make the rec list so frequently and easily in all of the 12 years that I've been there. He and his Kos Kops are rolling the rec. list so Bernie diaries don't stay on it. By hook or crook, dailykos will be Hillary's site.

RED PILL TIME?

From "The Matrix" when Morpheus urges Neo to make a choice as to what reality in which he wants to live. Does he want to know how things really are or go back to a 'comfortable' life of illusion?:

Morpheus says to Neo:

This is your last chance. After this, there is no turning back. You take the blue pill—the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill—
(http://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_politics/ballot_box/2005/01/blogg...)
you stay in Wonderland, and I show you how deep (http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2007/06/meet-new-bosses?page=2)
the rabbit hole goes. Remember: all I'm offering is the truth. Nothing more.

Considering they've done everything but drop a mountain on her side of the scale, it's pretty pathetic.

in one of my three comments I make in a 24 hr period. I keep expecting them to ban me or timeout me because I keep calling her a liar and cheat. So far, though, only flags.

I didn't vote in the poll. I want to give Zuniga as little as possible.

Someone was mentioning how some Bernie supporters might stay home rather than vote for Hillary. My comment was:

What makes you think they will stay home? Pretty much everything I have read suggests those who actively oppose Hillary will either write in Bernie or vote Jill Stein.

This received a flag.

the straw poll that gives the result Clinton 100% Sanders 0% (or as close as possible) as that will mean that TOP is on its last legs. That place is a net negative for the progressive movement and is therefore the enemy.

That site has two functions:

a)Support the DNC side of the establishment coin
b)to suck all the oxygen out of any opposition to a)

Anyone looking into progressivism will be sucked into that site's funnel and will likely come away either disillusioned or sheepified. We need to think of ways to stop that happening and this place is a very good start.

When I first saw the poll, HRC was ahead, and I wondered if Hillbots had freeped the poll or if the many brainwashing Hill diaries had worked. When I went back to look last night, Bernie was ahead - in spite of the fact that many Sanders supporters have left the site willingly out of disgust at the enforced censorship, or been banned.

That tells me people are not believing the meme "I like Bernie but he can't win!" (Who the fuck came up with that idiocy in the first place? Why did anyone ever believe that nonsense since no reason "he couldn't win" was ever stated, just the vague comment.) They have figured out the only way Bernie can't win is if people don't vote for him! Duh!

I'm a 'Bernie or Bust' person, so I'm voting for Bernie one way or another, either because he's on the ballot or I'm writing in his name.

The DKos straw poll used to be consistently 60% for Bernie, but now 52%. Apparently most of the Bernie supporters didn't take the hint and bail out a month ago like I did. And "delegate math" can't convince us to support an unacceptable neoliberall/neocon.

Sometimes I scroll through the titles of the posts, rarely open them if I know the author is a Bernie supporter. If they're a known Hillary supporter I don't open them at all. (Well, I have high blood pressure; why risk stroking out or getting a heart attack out of anger for frustration because I can't deal with that much willful stupidity?)

Hahaha! I love that Bernie still won despite ALL the efforts DK has put into bolstering his Establishment candidate.

I've been there since 2004. Never flagged anyone. Was never flagged,, till...

I've been flagged now about 3 times in the past month.

If they were so confident, you'd think they wouldn't be so thin-skinned.

Bernie can't win because of something that hasn't happened, that nobody can actually see. He does better than Hills head-to-head against the Republicans but won't. There's your proof that Hills is better! Everybody hates her because they've always hated her for years. That's why she's better!

I was reading a souffle article "over there" about why Hills is so inspiring. Apparently because she's wonderful. And inspiring. And the diarist doesn't know that the "18 million cracks in the glass ceiling" aren't the actual number since it includes unsanctioned primaries where Her Ladyship was the only candidate to NOT take her name off the ballot.

In any case, I looked at that post pretty carefully and found nothing, a whole lot of nothing. Some Republicans liked Carly Fiorina because of her resume and they didn't want to look too closely at her record. They just liked that she ran a company. Hillary lovers are like that. "Oooh, she was First Lady and is a tough cookie!" You know the people who say "wouldn't it be great if Michelle ran?"? What the heck? I guess those people have never grasped the concept of critical thinking. "Some ask why....." and some don't understand the idea of even asking.

When I voted, Hillary was ahead 51-49. That was about midday yesterday. The Diktat of March 15 has driven away Bernie supporters-- that's probably why he ran a straw poll, to find out the effect of the Diktat.
