Album of the Week 1-27-24

Afternoon folks!

This week we've got some Koko Taylor and some Bo Diddley in the blues category. In the blues-rock category we've got a bunch of stuff - an album from Robin Trower, an EP from Canned Heat in the mid-80's, an album from The Pirates, a compilation album from Faces and the part of a mid-period Fleetwood Mac album that the lords of copyright will allow to be heard. To finish off, in the diversity department there's a psychedelic album from Strawberry Alarm Clock.

Enjoy and have a great weekend!

Here 'tis:

Koko Taylor - I Got What It Takes

Bo Diddley - His Greatest Sides - Volume One

Robin Trower - Bridge Of Sighs

Canned Heat - Heat Brothers '84 EP

The Pirates - Hard Ride

Faces - Snakes And Ladders

Fleetwood Mac - Future Games

Strawberry Alarm Clock - Wake Up ... It's Tomorrow

@orlbucfan

here's a link to a wikipedia page on the pirates - it's not complete, but it's a good start.

yeah, i just read about melanie this weekend. i saw her a few years ago when i went to a 50th anniversary celebration of woodstock on yasgur's farm. despite aging, her voice was in great shape and it was a real pleasure to hear her again.

@joe shikspack Just finished reading the Wiki link, joe. Thanks! Fascinating stuff, especially how nutso the Brit bands were for American Blues, R & B/Soul music. Smile

Hey Joe,

Awesome stack of disks man! I had not seen much less heard that Strawberry Alarm Clock album in 50 years. Wow, flashbacks, made me want to light some inscense and eat peppermints for some reason. That early Bo Diddley was so very influential on rock and roll... great stuff. What a voice Koko had...

thanks for the continuing edumacation!
