The United Nations Cop28 climate summit wrapped up this week. The best language the participants could agree upon was to transition away from fossil fuels. Did not see any call to decrease military activity contributing to climate change.

New studies keep identifying additional methods we may effect the climate.

Breathing contributes to global warming – study Russia Times Dec 14, 2023

A detailed analysis of test subjects’ diets failed to yield any indication that meat eaters produced more of either gas. While all test subjects exhaled nitrous oxide, only 31% exhaled methane. These individuals, referred to as “methane producers” in the paper, were more likely to be female and over 30 years of age, though the researchers were unable to determine why this was the case.
...
The UK has legally committed itself to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 78% by 2035 compared to 1990. Residents have been strongly encouraged to reduce meat consumption in order to achieve this goal, with some estimates placing the share of global greenhouse gas emissions from raising livestock for meat at 15%. However, the researchers behind Wednesday’s study pointed out that shifting to a high-fiber vegetarian diet could potentially cause more methane and nitrous oxide emissions, a phenomenon they called “pollution swapping.”

UK has right to transit the Strait: British secretary Taipei Times Dec 16, 2023

The British Royal Navy has a right to transit through the Taiwan Strait, British Secretary of Defence Grant Shapps said yesterday, shortly after announcing that a carrier strike group would sail there.

“The strength and global reach of the UK’s armed forces should never be underestimated,” Shapps was quoted as saying. “The carrier strike group 2025 is another tangible example of our ability to deploy globally.”

“Such deployments send a strong deterrence message while presenting important opportunities for engagements with key partners,” he said.

Time to start expanding knowledge of another part of the world. Brief article on composition of Israeli population.

Israel’s mosaic of Jewish ethnic groups is key to understanding the country The Conversation November 30, 2023

Some 16 million people worldwide identify as Jewish – and more than 7 million of them live in Israel.

The country is home to more than 2 million people who are not Jewish, as well – primarily Arab Israelis, who make up 20% to 25% of the population, and more than 100,000 foreign workers. Most Arab Israeli citizens are Muslim, but small minorities adhere to various Christian denominations, as well as the Druze religion.

Even within Israel’s Jewish population, however, there is dizzying diversity.
...
The largest Jewish ethnic group in Israel, about 40% to 45% of the country’s total population, is called Mizrahi, which means “Eastern” in Hebrew. Mizrahi Jews’ ancestors hailed from Jewish communities in the Middle East, including Israel itself.

The word Mizrahi often describes Jews from North Africa, too.
...
The second-largest ethnic Jewish group in Israel, about 32% of the population, is Ashkenazi. Ashkenazi Jews trace their ancestry to central Europe, most often via Eastern Europe.
...
Since the state of Israel’s founding in 1948, migration has flowed the other way as well. Today in Israel there are approximately 200,000 Jews from English-speaking countries and some 100,000 from Latin American countries.

Since the final years of of the Soviet Union, about 1 million people with Jewish roots have immigrated to Israel from Russia and the former Soviet bloc countries. They and their children now make up about 15% to 18% of the Israeli population.

It was only 3 1/2 years ago Netanyahu was in Ukraine to visit Zelensky and pay respect to victims of a mass slaughter in WWII.

The Arc of History Bends From Ukraine to Israel and Back Again Tablet August 21, 2019

When Benjamin Netanyahu arrived in Kyiv this week to meet with the country’s new president, Volodymyr Zelensky, it was the Israeli prime minister’s first official meeting with another world leader of Jewish descent. Almost two decades earlier, during his first trip to Ukraine as prime minister, Netanyahu had delivered a memorable speech at the mass grave of Babi Yar where tens of thousands of Jews were slaughtered after the Germans occupied Ukraine in the Second World War.
...
It is a remarkable time in Eastern European history. A month after the unprecedented Zelensky landslide election that ousted the old Ukrainian political elite, Latvia, another post-Soviet state with a complex relationship to Russia, elected Egil Levits another president of Jewish descent. And here was Netanyahu, leader of the Jewish state, traveling back to the Eastern European ‘old world,’ where the Jews in their wandering centuries had dreamed of Jerusalem, and then willed that dream into the political struggle that created the state of Israel. It was one thing for the Israeli prime minister to be in Ukraine, the heartland of the Pale of Settlement where modern Zionism began as well as being the site of the “Holocaust by bullets,” but he was there to meet with, of all things, a fellow Jew, one of two elected in the past year as leader of a former Soviet state.
...
With the exception of Theodor Herzl, almost every major early Zionist figure either came from or passed through Ukraine in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Many among the first waves of immigrants to Israel to Mandate Palestine came through the port of Odessa, the hometown of Netanyahu’s political forebear, Revisionist Zionist Vladimir Jabotinsky.

Historically, most of the Russian Empire’s Jewish population lived in the strip of Eastern Europe known as the Pale of Settlement, and most of the Jews from the other Soviet republics (including my own grandparents who fled Ukraine for Uzbekistan during the war) had lived there for centuries. Half of the million or so Jews from the Soviet emigration to Israel over the last half century were born in Ukraine, and as many as 90% of all post-Soviet Jews can trace their roots back to the country.
...
Yet, despite the conversation about a strategic partnership, Israel has been reticent about providing Ukrainians with the most advanced military technology due to the negative impact it could have on Israel’s relationship with Russia. Like Ukraine, Israel also has Russian military forces on its border, and the Syrian civil war where Russia has played a leading role provides the unspoken subtext for security relations with Ukraine. However, open technical cooperation between the Ukrainian and Israel militaries has quietly expanded in recent years. Israelis have also organized material help for Ukrainian military families who have lost men in the war and have provided assistance for wounded Ukrainian soldiers to be rehabilitated in Israeli hospitals.

Weeks before his arrival in Ukraine, Netanyahu had intimated to a gathering of Israeli journalists that despite his not being particularly conversant in the details of the war in Eastern Ukraine, he was ready to get involved in proffering diplomatic solutions for Kyiv and Moscow.

A couple of articles by Pepe Escobar this week.
BRICS and the Resistance Axis: a convergence of goals The Cradle Dec 11, 2023

Last week, Russian President Vladimir Putin made a notable pit stop in the UAE and Saudi Arabia to meet, respectively, Emirati President Mohammad bin Zayed (MbZ) and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman (MbS) before flying back to Moscow to meet Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi.

The three key issues in all three meetings, confirmed by diplomatic sources, were Gaza, OPEC+, and BRICS expansion. They are, of course, interlinked.
...
As every stunned military analyst remarked, an American F-35 is capable of flying at best 2,500 km without refueling. Yet the most important element is that both MbZ and MbS authorized the Russian Su-35s escorts over their territory – which is something extremely unusual in diplomatic circles.

And that leads us to the key takeaway. With a single move on the aerial chessboard, compounded with the subsequent clincher with Raisi, Moscow accomplished four tasks:

Putin proved - graphically speaking - that this is a new West Asia where the US hegemon is a secondary actor; destroyed the neocon political myth of Russian “isolation;” demonstrated ample military supremacy; and lastly, as the start of Russia’s BRICS presidency approaches, showed that it retains all its crucial geopolitical and geoeconomic cards.
...
Yet a renewed appraisal may reveal everything is evolving organically when it comes to the intersection of the Big Picture
...
For the moment, what we have are sporadic attacks: Hezbollah destroying Israel’s communication towers facing the southern Lebanon border, Iraq's resistance forces attacking US bases in Iraq and Syria, and Yemen's Ansarallah concretely blocking the Red Sea for Israeli ships. All that does not form a concerted, coordinated offensive - yet.
...
And that would explain the desperation within the Biden administration in Washington, complete with rumors that it needs Israel to finish Plan Gaza between Christmas and the start of January.
...
The geopolitical goals of Zionism are quite clear: re-establish its self-constructed aura of dominance in West Asia and maintain steady control over US foreign policy and the military alliance.
...
So what we have is essentially Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Emigration-or-Annihilation plan - versus what veteran West Asia expert Alastair Crooke has memorably coined as “Sykes-Picot is dead.” That phrase means that Arab and Iranian inclusion in BRICS will eventually rewrite the rules in West Asia, to the detriment of the Zionist project.

There’s even a strong possibility this time around that Israel's certified war crimes in Gaza will be prosecuted, as Palestinians, Arabs, and Muslim-majority nations, with full BRICS support, form a Global South-recognized commission to take Tel Aviv and its armed forces to court.

vehemently anti-Zionist (not anti-semite). There seems to be
a lot of conflation between Judaism and Zionism in the western

https://alt-market.us/4th-generation-devastation-the-west-has-been-targe...

In a once obscure internal US Army document titled ‘From Psyop To Mindwar’, the military value of sabotage through 4th Generation methods is described in detail. The treatise outlines the idea of causing a target population to self enslave by undermining its core structures through psychological warfare. The paper was written in 1980 by Lt. Colonel Michael Aquino, a devout satanist, and Colonel Paul Vallely, who would later become a General.

Aquino’s theory was essentially that the US Army was under-utilizing psychological operations as a background to kinetic operations. He argued that psyops could be used as the front line weapon to destroy an enemy nation (or control a domestic population) without the exploitation of standard munitions. As Aquino suggests in a 2003 preface to Mindwar:

“Essentially you overwhelm your enemy with argument. You seize control of all of the means by which his government and populace process information to make up their minds, and you adjust it so that those minds are made up as you desire. Everyone is happy, no one gets hurt or killed, and nothing is destroyed.”

Our congress critters are just the mouthpieces of the globalists and since at least Pelosi’s reign they don’t even discuss what goes into bills and they are told how to vote for them without having a chance to read what they are voting for. Maybe longer, but one congress critter admitted that. Might have been Thomas Massey.

What I find surprising is how long the war between us and the globalists has been going on. And yet again we see that the Ford and Rockefeller Foundation are in the thick of it. Remember that Ford was very involved in helping Hitler do what he did. Without the help from American companies and banks would we even have had a 2nd World War?

I’m watching a series on the 1920's where one guy owns a railroad and calls himself a robber baron and he is fighting against his workers who are trying to form a union. I’m just wondering how long our government has been captured.

A kangaroo board suspended Meryl Nass from practicing medicine because she prescribed ivermectin and criticized the governor. No hearings took place before they did it and no one knows if they even have the power to do it.

“The Board concludes that the continued ability of Dr. Nass to practice as a physician in the State of Maine constitutes an immediate jeopardy to the health and physical safety of the public who might receive her medical services,” said the suspension letter.

Yeah saving lives puts the community in danger…but remdisiver is okay to give people as is putting people who can still talk on ventilators. You can read her stories about how the hearings were nothing but a clown show.

FFS… the first amendment gives us the right to criticize our government, but apparently the right had been suspended during the totalitarian Covid era.

The inquiry into Nass was spurred on by Dora Mills, the sister of Gov. Mills, who wrote an email to at least one board member urging them to look into Nass’s criticisms of the governor’s policies.

Dr. Paul Marik was saving lives with drugs that he found worked, but his hospital fired him and he had to watch as the patients he was successfully treating got worse and then died.

...for Sat and Sunday for "tropical storm like conditions." It just started to rain lightly. I saw a forecast for localized rain in our area for 5.5 inches. There are gale warnings, flood warnings for low lying areas, possible tornadoes, etc. Supposed to be the "dry season." I've been screwing around with sand bags just in case. Already have a back ache. Hope the city has someone at the public works office to monitor the area drainage system.

The usual nonsense is going in South Korea. There was a Saturday demo to impeach Yoon, and appoint a special prosecutor to investigate his wife's activities. With Yoon as president, and his enforcer, Han Dong-hun, as Justice Minister, no one at the public prosecutor's office will summon her or issue any warrants.

There is a blockbuster movie in South Korea right now called 12.12-The Day. The Korean title is Seoul Spring. It's about the Park Chung-hee assassination, and events leading up to the subsequent Chun Doo-huan coup d'etat in 1980. This has caused a few people to question whether such a thing could happen again and if Yoon Seok-yeol's domination of the administration of justice in South Korea, doesn't in fact, represent a loss or threat of loss of democracy in South Korea. The cadre in Yoon's dictatorship of lawyers wear suits rather than uniforms. Kim Byong-ju discussed this on his regular interview program a few days ago. He focused on how Yoon's move to the former Ministry of Defense building at Yongsan and his official residence at Hanam dong, in lieu of prior president's having their office and residence on the Blue House grounds, presented a greater opportunity for a coup d'etat, because the entire military chain of command was in one location. He also pointed out, and I have described before, how it is an enhanced national security risk, to have all of your top command authorities working and living in the same neighborhood. Anyway, the movie has gotten great reviews and was seen by South Koreans by the millions at theaters.

12.12: The Day

Defense Minister Shin is a nut-case. I'm surprised that Joongang a conservative newspaper made this observation while pointing out all his hard liner rhetoric-

South's defense chief warns North that 'hell of destruction' awaits 'reckless' actions

Shin, a hard-liner on Pyongyang policy, slammed the preceding Moon government's Korean Peninsula peace initiative as "reliant on North Korea's goodwill and surreal optimism" and "completely fake," calling it a "well-planned fraud."

The liberal Moon administration pushed for a peace process that encouraged inter-Korean dialogue and joint projects in tandem with denuclearization negotiations between North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and former U.S. President Donald Trump in 2018 and early 2019, leading to a period of détente on the peninsula.

"The solid mental strength of our soldiers must be a prerequisite for our military to fulfill its role as a peacekeeper," Shin said, pointing to the importance mental strength plays in Ukraine's resistance to invasion and Israel's punishing of militant group Hamas.

The Defense Minister of the UK is another self promoting tough guy, who overrates his country as a "world power." I saw some video yesterday where he was ranting and raving about how great the British armed forces are. Tim posted the video.

Here's another crazy right wing Yoon operation-

Koreans in Japan voice fears of witch hunt as Seoul investigates contact with Chongryon

There is so much going on lately, that it's hard to keep track. There is more nonsense about the ROK military being brought into US nuclear contingency planning against North Korea, drawing up "guidelines," and introducing contingency planning for nuclear "responses" into exercises next year. For some reason, what little support Yoon has with the South Korean public is based on his foreign policy "performance." There was an article over at NK News (a US publication) that of 100 "experts" a majority didn't rate Yoon's foreign policy highly. (I don't have access, not a paid subscriber).

While I was over there I saw a NK article that pretty much accurately described candlelight demonstrators in South Korea as denouncing Yoon as a threat to peace. I think the North has this right. Joongang reported the North Korean newspaper published a picture of former Justice Minister Chu Mi-ae at the demo last Saturday in No Dong Shin moon (the worker's news). I think this is damaging to her status in South Korea and the opposition in general fitting the far right stereotype of progressives as stooges of the communists. This reminds me of North Korea's excessive test firing of missiles during the last presidential election campaign which played right into Yoon's campaign strategy. It seems the North is not very good at calculating their own political interests.

I liked this comparison in Hankyoreh. Tim published the link which has the unsettling graphic that went with the opinion-

Thanks SOE for the potluck! The Judge really has had some great interviews.

Well, maybe I'll go fill a few more sand bags.

Together, they recite the story of the long siege against their ancestors and their final exodus out of Gaza. They eat symbolic foods as they describe the suffering that the Palestinians endured.

They drink sparkling water to remind them how lively the water tasted after long periods when water was forbidden to them. When the Palestinian Passover meal is over, most homes recite one final blessing. Translated, it means, "Next year in Jerusalem!" and expresses the hope that next year, all Palestinians will celebrate their Passover in their homeland.

A preliminary IDF investigation of Friday's incident, in which three Israeli hostages who managed to escape Hamas captivity in Gaza were mistakenly identified as enemy and shot dead by the soldiers, concludes that they were killed because the troops did not follow the army's rules of engagement.

According to the investigation, a soldier who was stationed on one of the upper floors of a building in the area has identified three figures who held a long stick that had a white fabric attached to it.

The report states that, for some reason, the soldier felt threatened and opened fire on the group. Two hostages were hit and fell to the ground, and the third managed to escape into a nearby building.

At the same time, the soldier reported to his commanding officer that he had encountered who he had believed were Hamas members. The commander then arrived at the scene, while another IDF squad that was nearby followed the third hostage, who managed to escape into a hiding place inside the building.

The report says that as the soldiers approached the building, they began to hear shouts in Hebrew, asking for their help. The Israeli hostage who was hiding inside the building came out and ran inside again. According to the soldiers, they believed that it was a Hamas member who was trying to "pull them" into a trap. They proceeded to enter the building, where they killed the hostage.

When the soldiers retrieved the three bodies, they noticed identifying marks that raised a suspicion that they were indeed Israeli hostages who managed to escape.

Two days earlier, the soldiers spotted a building in the area that had the inscriptions SOS and "Help! Three hostages" written on one of its walls. An Israeli army force that operated in the region has marked the building as a possible trap
