Friday Night Photos Oregon Road Trip Edition pt1
Happy Friday everyone. You know the drill. Photos, memes, music, or whatever else you find of interest. Post em if you got em.
As most of you know I was in Oregon for a few days last week for the annual family get together to celebrate Canadian Thanksgiving. Between family and friends there were 12 people there. Everyone had a great time. The weather was nice. Cloudy skies in the morning with temps in the high 40s and mostly sunny skies by noon, and temps warming up to the low to mid 60s in the afternoon.
The vrbo house we rented was right on the beach in Netarts. Question for our Oregon members. Is Netarts pronounced knee tarts or net arts? Inquiring minds want to know. How ever you pronounce it, Nertarts and near by Tillamook was a great place to spend a few days.
This farm and barn was on the drive from Portland to Netarts.

These are either very big rocks or very small islands.

Just to the right and out of the photo is a tunnel that goes to the other side of that point of land

Glad the fam could enjoy it with you.
Especially like the tunnel shot with the

Zionism is a social disease
Hi, Q
A good time was had by all. For me the highlight of the get together were the home movies. My brother brought along an 8mm movie projector, movie screen, and the home movies my dad shot of the family in the mid to late 50s when my sibs and I were a whole lot younger.
Nice seasonal shot. Someone was very creative.

Beautiful photos
Thanks for sharing them with us! Love that part of the Oregon Coast. Wonderful piles of driftwood everywhere you looked. Glad you were able to enjoy this spot and share your pictures.
Life is what you make it, so make it something worthwhile.
This ain't no dress rehearsal!
Thank you, jakkalbessie
This was my first time visiting Oregon. It was very beautiful and I'd love to go back again.

Hi Social
I'm happy for you and the family to have had such a beautiful place to gather together. It seems that big rock formations are a feature of the Oregon coast. I've been on a few of those beaches, but never that one. They are spectacular, thank you for taking us along. I love the little worm highways around the jellyfish.
I’m busy preparing myself and my small garden before I leave soon. I think I will just miss the first ripe blueberry.
I wish everyone well, and peace to all.
Hi, janis
I had never been to the Oregon coast before. I really loved it and would like to go back again. I love blueberries. Hope you get lot's of ripe ones.

Thanks Social
I hope you can take a road trip down the coast sometime. It's a photographer's and beach lovers dream. I'll be scarce the next few weeks, and look forward to being back here later.
Agreed
The Oregon coast is definitely a photographers dream. Safe travels and enjoy your time with family.

Thanks for the photos - the coast does keep changing
The rows of beach houses are one of the reasons I like the memories in my head of non-developed lands with wildlife as we boated down the coast from the Columbia River to Newport, our home port.
A number of areas in Oregon retain their Native American names and pronunciation follows no European tradition. Netarts is pronounced knee tarts. The pilings might be remnants of horse barns used for horse seining operations.
Still yourself, deep water can absorb many disturbances with minimal reaction.
--When the opening appears release yourself.
Hi, soe
Thanks for the clarification on the pronunciation of Netarts. Thanks for the horse barn and seining ops link. An interesting history. There were no seining operations going on while we were there but there were a lot of crabbers and clammers along the shore most mornings and evenings.

SP thank you so much for the lovely Oregon Coast Photos.
I grew up in SW Portland. We went to the beach at Otter Rock/Devil's Punch Bowl every year in late August.
Later I explored all of the Oregon Coast and even later fished almost every bay, bar and port.
I can confirm knee-tarts Bay. The row of logs are probably from an old pier, or cannery operation. There are many which show up at low tides or after storms.
Fished a lot out of Tillamook Bay and into the ocean through the jetty. A twenty minute ride from inside to just short of the jaws can be smooth and uneventful. Then at the very end just inside the jaws, it can peak up something pretty darned scary. If I hadn't been with a trusty boat handler, I would never have gone outside. Sometimes we surfed down the large swells on the way out. But there were always lovely cod: my favorite is Green ling cod. Cut up and dipped in pancake batter laced with Worcestershire Sauce, soy, brown sugar then cooked in good oil in a fondue pot. Oh yum.
Thank for the memories.
