Lindsey Graham: maybe it's South Carolina logic?

So, yeah, the Russians brought down a drone which was spying upon territory occupied by Russia. The video below gives us the response of Lindsey Graham, senator from everyone's fave state South Carolina, to this incident. Don't worry: you will only have to see the first twenty seconds to get the point:

Here's what Scott Ritter has to say about Lindsey Graham's comment.

Ritter moves on to discuss Marco Rubio's comment to the same effect.

Now, to be sure, there was a rather prominent book written by Robert Scheer back in titled "With Enough Shovels" which argued that the first Reagan administration's cabinet thought the US could win a nuclear war. But a simple search of "winnable nuclear war" will produce this document, which will tell you that the US government still believes in a winnable nuclear war.

So there you have it. As regards Ronald Reagan, however, Reagan's military understood that provoking nuclear war isn't something kewl kids do. This is a lesson Lindsey Graham, beneficiary of thirty-five years of hindsight, has yet to learn.

...and consequently, we all are, aren't we?

I wonder what would happen if he tried to do to a few Neocons what they keep openly demanding be done to him; I'm not sure I'd want to risk it, but I'm thinking odds are good those remaining would learn the value of de-escalation real quick.

@The Liberal Moonbat to watch those on the wanker Right battle it out: so, for instance, you have Douglas Macgregor, retired Army, a man who somehow made it into the Trump administration and who is the primary advocate of the "Putin will win and this is stupid" prophesy on YouTube. His biggest fan is Andrew Napolitano, onetime darling of Fox News. On the other hand, you have Lindsey Graham, who persuaded Trump to leave troops in Russian ally Syria, and whose idol Ronald Reagan appears to have had more good sense than he has, even during that period of his life in which Reagan was suffering from early-stage dementia. I think Graham played the general in this scene from "Alice's Restaurant":

@Cassiodorus
such as what is currently playing out in Ukraine, Mcgregor is clearly correct. The US and NATO enablers are not even able to provide enough arms and ammunition to allow Ukraine to match Russia’s capacity.

If the thinly veiled Ukraine proxy war were to transition to a direct shooting war between Russia and the collective West it would most certainly not proceed as a attritional ground conflict. Immediately, it would be imperative for the West to shift to a more competitive format, where their air and naval assets would become engaged.

One needn’t be a military expert to recognize that once either side took enough losses to their fleet and planes and they found themselves facing likely defeat, the nukes would begin to fly. In both directions. “Deadman” systems would be triggered, regardless of the size or perfection of any ‘first strike’.

Ergo:
Putin wins in a non-nuclear conflict
A limited nuclear exchange is inconceivable and oxymoronic
There is NO WINNER a nuclear exchange.

from the rooftops.

A lot of younger people actually believe that all those test films are just primordial CGI, and that there are no actual nuclear weapons.

The binder that General Turgidson is holding is titled "World Targets in Megadeaths". Sounds about right for 1964.
