The Tuis and Kereru are back

I haven’t yet seen the little birds, but I can hear a few. They are probably busy rebuilding their nests. I hope most survived the storm.

I am fine here in my place. The landslip remained stable during the rain and I was largely sheltered from the worst of the wild winds. Power and cellphone reception came back after two days a couple hours ago. I now feel settled after being able to communicate with family and friends from a stable home.

This has been a wild few weeks, and hopefully the near future will see all things resolved.

Thank you all for your well wishes and crossed fingers. I’m sure they helped.

My go to piece of music for peace ...

for your care and well wishes. Mother nature sure puts things in perspective. For me, fortunately I am still safely at home. I haven't looked at images from the devastation of others but heard on the transistor radio descriptions of some. I am relatively lucky.

GREAT to hear from you! Thanks for letting us know. Surely a number were wondering and wishing the best for all our kiwi friends. Glad to hear all is well, steady as she goes. Time to dry out. I watched a number of utube news clips on it this morning, and on one a bird was calling loudly. My wife asked me what it was. What does she think I am, a bleedin' ornithologist? I have never been to New Zealand. Smile Not for lack of want. If a bird called in the background of a Botswana vid she would ask the same question. LOL. I responded with much authority, "Tui". I didn't tell her that nice kiwi lady at c99 taught me their call. Wink Thanks for that link that time...

What a beautiful piece, peace piece. I'd just leave that on a loop.

Thanks again for checkin' in!

He's a lovely person. I wish him a wonderful healing experience.

On a side note, looking back, I've lived in houses on stilts up and down the California coast. Most had no foundation to speak of. At first, it freaked me out. Some I believe were propped, up on thin poles, after the fact. The last one was new construction built on piles driven deep into the bedrock of a steep hill. Five flights of steps from the garage belowPto the front door. In places, property owners are living in the airspace above lots that that have been reclaimed by mud slides. and the tides. It's certainly doable and strangely charming, after a fashion.

Your past homes sound a lot more precarious than I am here. I'm glad you enjoyed them while they lasted ; ).

is great for relaxation, as is much of his other work. One of my faves is Sketches from Spain. Thanks for the Tui videos, I missed whatever link to their call you previously sent Dysto. Please send Smiley7 my best wishes too and say hi - he is missed around here.

be well and have a good one

you and your house both made it through the storm okay, Janis. Hopefully you will have time to dry out before you get any more rain.

The weather looks to be settled for awhile. Maybe we'll get some summer before autumn arrives, while the sun creeps lower and lower.

To listen to the music, try typing in "Peace Piece by Bill Evans" into you tube search. You will probably find one to listen to. I'm sure you'd like it.
