Out of the Frying Pan and into the Fire...

Open Thread Image.jpg

So we had an FBI raid on Trump followed by the "dark Brandon" speech avowing all Trump supporters as enemies of the state. Across the pond we saw the appointment of Ms. Truss (appropriately named mistrust) as PM of the UK literally as the 70+ year reigning Queen dies (replaced by King (WEF) Charles). Additionally propaganda is being piled deep with the so called Ukrainian counteroffensives (which may be a trap). Add insult to injury, Crystia Freeland, is a likely future head of NATO? Remember, she's the one that was freezing bank accounts of Canadians protesting the vaccine mandates. You can't make it up...

The idea of frying pan to fire came as I thought about the leadership here in the west. My music buddies, the twins, both worked for a nearby town until they retired. Whenever the mayoral election came around they would avow, "you think there's no way we could trade down, but every time we do."
Have you ever heard the swap song? I heard it years ago from Lotus Dickey, but YT only has Burl Ives singing it. The twins tell a similar story about Millard, their dad. He won a used car in a raffle and through a series of trades worked his way down to a lawn mower that blew up and was junked. That seems about the way our elections have gone through my lifetime, from a functioning car to a useless lawn mower, or as today's theme suggests, out of the pan and into the fire.

Western leadership is a joke, but sadly the joke is on us...

The collective west's insanity currently revolves around it's alleged devotion to Nazi infused Ukraine. Of course Ukraine is just a tool being used to weaken Russia. The west is happy to sacrifice every Ukrainian to achieve its goal (so they really don't give a flip about Ukraine). Scott Ritter is a reliable source to my mind... (19 min)

Six months into Russia’s “Special Military Operation,” fact-challenged reporting that constitutes Western media’s approach to covering the conflict in Ukraine has become apparent to any discerning audience.
...
Six months into Russia’s “Special Military Operation”, most military analysts admit that Russia enjoys the upper hand on the battlefield, despite the billions of dollars in military aid that has been sent to Ukraine by the U.S. and its European allies.
But not Bill Arkin and his employers at Newsweek. They seem to be content with serving as the Defense Intelligence Agency’s stenographers, putting out stories which have not, and will not, stand the test of time.

Brian at the new atlas does a good job detailing the military operation in Ukraine.

- Ukraine continues its offensive around the Kharkov region after its Kherson offensive failed at great cost in lives and equipment;
- Tactical gains by Ukraine in Kharkov are also coming at great cost in lives and equipment and will leave Ukrainian forces in ultimately a weaker position than when they began;
- Russian withdrawals are tactical, focusing on long-term victory rather than daily headlines;
- Russia has repeatedly conserved manpower and equipment in the face of Ukrainian surges to later reform lines and counter attack on their own terms;
- The correlation of forces continues to favor Russia

My view is fairly simple: Ukraine cannot and will not reach meaningful objectives - what we call “operational depth” - and has in fact thrown much of its carefully crafted premium reserves into a dangerous position. I believe it’s highly likely that these top rate Ukrainian formations are about to be savaged - but this is still an important learning moment for Russia.

None the less, this wasteful conflict continues to be fueled by the west...

As the Biden administration on Thursday announced billions of dollars in additional aid for Ukraine’s defense against Russian invaders, peace activists renewed calls for a diplomatic solution to the nearly seven-month war.
“The White House and Congress are fueling this war with a steady stream of weapons instead of pushing for talks to end the conflict,” Medea Benjamin, co-founder of the peace group CodePink

This counteroffensive is reminiscent of the original US driven 2014 coup. That happened as Russia was focused on the Olympics held in Sochi, Russia. This counteroffensive was conducted when Putin and most of the top leadership was at the Eastern economic forum in Vladivostok.
Here's some of what Putin said there...

I have already mentioned that the entire system of international relations has recently undergone irreversible, or should I say, tectonic, shifts. Emerging states and regions around the world, primarily, of course, in the Asia-Pacific region, now play a substantially bigger role. Asia-Pacific countries emerged as new centres of economic and technological growth, attracting human resources, capital and manufacturing.

Despite all that, the Western countries are seeking to preserve yesterday’s world order that benefits them and force everyone to live according to the infamous “rules”, which they concocted themselves. They are also the ones who regularly violate these rules, changing them to suit their agenda depending on how things are going at any given moment. At the same time, other countries have not been forthcoming when it comes to subjecting themselves to this dictate and arbitrary rule, forcing the Western elites, to put it bluntly, to lose grip and take short-sighted, irrational decisions on global security, politics, as well as economics. All these decisions run counter to the interests of countries and their people, including, by the way, the people in those Western countries. The gap separating the Western elites from their own citizens is widening.

Europe is about to throw its achievements in building up its manufacturing capability, the quality of life of its people and socioeconomic stability into the sanctions furnace, depleting its potential, as directed by Washington for the sake of the infamous Euro-Atlantic unity. In fact, this amounts to sacrifices in the name of preserving the dominance of the United States in global affairs.

Habeck captains Germany towards economic disaster, no chance of turning back

Despite soaring energy prices that threaten the stability of the country, Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said she would continue to support Ukraine “no matter what German voters think.”
The comment is a fairly stunning admission that world leaders are intent on prolonging the war for as long as possible, no matter how much it harms the countries they are supposed to represent.

The people of Germany don't seem happy (2 min)

ENERGY CRISIS: German people demand the lifting of sanctions against Russia
Around 4,000 German people gathered in Magdeburg
to protest against the government's policy
that caused inflation rose to its highest level in almost 50 years,
Driven largely by energy price rises
By shouting: "Nord Stream! Nord Stream!"
The German people demand the lifting of sanctions against Russia

Sadly it seems the leadership has a plan...
MARTIAL LAW COMING TO #GERMANY
"From October 1, the military will patrol the streets in Germany, and special army units will be responsible for security inside the country as population about to explode on gas and electricity prices Winter is Kommen"

At least one German politician is making sense...

Sahra Wagenknecht, a left-leaning politician, said that Russia is its largest energy supplier on Thursday. Speaking in the Bundestag, the former co-chair of the party Die Linke (The Left) urged an end to anti-Russian sanctions and the resignation of the country’s vice chancellor and economy minister, Robert Habeck.

Although describing the conflict in Ukraine as an ongoing war, “crime,” Wagenknecht claimed that anti-Russian sanction are “fatal” to Germany. With energy prices out of control, the country’s economy will soon “just be a reminder of the good old days,”The MP warned and urged Russia to lift the restrictions.
“We really have the stupidest government in Europe,”She urged Habeck to resign, and she spoke in front of the Parliament.

“The idea that we are punishing Putin by impoverishing millions of families in Germany and destroying our industry while Gazprom is making record profits – how stupid is that?” Wagenknecht wondered.

Kyle Anzalone discusses the West's energy war with Moscow.
The West Doubles Down on the Losing Economic War with Russia

Bad as things are looking for Germany, the UK may be in worse shape, especially with their new PM.

The U.K. has a new Prime Minister and her name is Liz Truss. A member of the Conservative Party, Truss replaces the deposed Boris Johnson but, as a fellow Conservative, promises to perpetuate Johnson’s right-wing policies on issues like police, warmongering and energy. In fact, when asked about her “feelings” surrounding the possibility of nuclear war, Truss insisted that she’s ready to push the button and rain down cataclysmic destruction on the entire planet.

So the bottom line is Europe is committing economic suicide in order to support a country with which they have no formal alliance nor treaties. The US, perhaps purposely?, has set them on this course of destruction and the people are asking why, but the leaders don't care. They set the course and will become little more than US vassal states.

How about the situation in the US?

1.3 min

Yesterday was Labor Day. But we haven’t heard a word from politicians about the struggles of hardworking Americans. This is not the time for celebration. It’s time for our leaders to take serious action to reduce inflation & stand up for the interests of the American people.

Well Trump won the appointment of a special master to review the papers taken from him by the FBI.

The judge ordered the DOJ to stop reviewing and using the seized documents as part of its criminal investigation until the special master can complete a review. She will, however, allow US intelligence officials to continue a classification review and national security risk assessment.

Biden's speech in Philly at independence hall where he claimed to seek unity as he divides and sets up conflict.

"...“But as I stand here tonight, equality and democracy are under assault. We do ourselves no favor to pretend otherwise.... “Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic... “And here, in my view, is what is true: MAGA Republicans do not respect the Constitution. They do not believe in the rule of law. They do not recognize the will of the people.... “MAGA forces are determined to take this country backwards -- backwards to an America where there is no right to choose, no right to privacy, no right to contraception, no right to marry who you love.
“They promote authoritarian leaders, and they fan the flames of political violence that are a threat to our personal rights, to the pursuit of justice, to the rule of law, to the very soul of this country.
...“MAGA Republicans have made their choice. They embrace anger. They thrive on chaos. They live not in the light of truth but in the shadow of lies.
...“MAGA Republicans look at America and see carnage and darkness and despair. They spread fear and lies –- lies told for profit and power.

These are just a few examples of the nature of how the dims plan to spin the situation. Perhaps he has forgotten Russiagate, a DNC ploy and FBI collusion to make people doubt the outcome of the 2016 election?

As far as I'm concerned both parties are corporate, pro-war, and owned by various oligarchs. Neither has our interest at heart. Like the Germans, it doesn't matter how the voters feel. Just push the war time agenda, and blame the other party. How convenient.

How did we get into this mess.

Max explains to Russell how lockdowns contributed to the current situation.

Can we escape the flood of control and avoid the disaster of current leadership?

Time will tell, but one thing is for sure - this system will not carry us forward into a positive future for working people. I keep hoping that the USD will fail before we start all out WWIII. The economic war has already begun, and the collective west (12% of global population) is trying to bully the rest of the world into submission as it has for the last several decades. However the landscape has changed and there is an alternative - the BRICS+ system is on the rise as the US empire declines. So interesting times. Glad to share the ride with all of you. I look forward to your comments, stories, and insights below!

Been a light drizzle here all weekend - just 0.5" so far. Perfect for the new garden planting.

Had a couple of buddies send me a picture of their family sailing off shore of Rhode Island. Made me think of you.

As weird as the world is now, the momentous changes are interesting to observe. Sadly, I think many people will feel the bite of the backfiring sanctions. I've been looking into a wood fired water heater to supplement our solar. Currently we use propane (which I pre-buy - got it for $2.10 a gallon this year). We'll see as we go forward.

Take care!

Hope you have a good Sunday and can get out and enjoy the weather. We just went down and checked out the garden. Everything seemed to enjoy the light rain, and more due today. Lots of peppers to gather tomorrow. The muscadines are prolific too...maybe enough for some wine.

Thanks for the Eurocentric roundup @Lookout. Seriously, I have to rely on others to find the best sources on news in the west, so I'm so glad I found this refuge at 99percent. In younger days, I used to call it war of the week. I spend most of my time following news, culture, entertainment, military and international events in the Far East.

Chuseok

Chuseok (Korean: 추석; Hanja: 秋夕; [tɕʰu.sʌk̚], literally "autumn evening"), also known as Hangawi (Hangul: 한가위; [han.ɡa.ɥi]; from archaic Korean for "the great middle (of autumn)"), is a major mid-autumn harvest festival and a three-day holiday in South Korea celebrated on the 15th day of the 8th month of the lunar calendar on the full moon. In North Korea, they only celebrate for the day of chuseok. Wikipedia

이번 주말은 한국의 추석 연휴다. 즐거운 秋夕 보내세요!

Two of my favorite twitter sources are Tim Shorrock, and TK of Ask A Korean AAK. I've been following them for at least five years. Usually I check Tim's twitter account in the morning to see what he thinks is important. He lived in both Japan and South Korea as a child. His father was a missionary. I let him scan the English language Korean and Japanese newspapers for me to save time. I follow the South Korean independent news media myself every day. Tim is fairly well known in the US and SK, as a journalist, he writes for the Nation magazine. He's an honorary citizen of Kwangju, the site of the Kwangju massacre during the Chun Doo-wan dictatorship days in South Korea. Tim has done a lot of historical research particularly in US National Archives to disclose the US role. I was stationed in South Korea several years after that when No Tae-woo was elected. The student democracy movement was still very active, there were frequent demos with tear gas, and police lines, in Hannamdong, which fascinated my son. American officials assured me as a wide eyed newbe, they had had nothing to do with the Kwangju massacre, and the existence of the earlier dictatorships was exclusively a domestic affair of the South Korea people.

TK has another twitter feed called the Blue Roof, which focuses on South Korean politics and culture. He's younger and a bit more conservative than Tim; I understand that TK is a US court certified Korean translator. His website theblueroof.com is very professional. It's free but you have to register. I get his newsletter on South Korean affairs every week. The Blue Roof twitter feed promotes TK's articles on South Korea. Normally, I don't read TK's articles until after I have written my own interpretations of Korean news. It's a good reference point to see where I stand or if I misinterpreted some Korean news source.

I like Dr. Peterson's youtube channel Frog outside the Well. He's an Asian Studies Phd (Harvard I think) He was a professor at BYU for a long time. He really understands Korean culture and history. His latest video is Japanese Seoul 1937 -- Koreans and Americans comparing old Seoul to modern. If you watch it, don't be discouraged by his acolytes, the Bangtan girls, it's a worthwhile discussion.

@Lookout Those teaching English jobs are difficult to get, a lot of competition for them. South Korea is a very dynamic and beautiful country. I haven't gone back recently, but my wife has gone back several times, and brings me language books and dictionaries from the Kyobo bookstore. I don't know how good the conditions are there right now to visit, we're hoping that the public health restrictions, for travel, and businesses get back to normal soon.

I watched the video you posted when it came out. I had watched the live videos and read a couple of Korean reports on it. Of course, I like to read the signs and listen to the speeches when I can hear them well enough on the audio. While the English language media largely ignored the demo, those who did cover it deserve a lot of credit. I have to say, I was a little disappointed in the turn out, which was small by South Korean standards. My estimate is that only several thousand participated, but I guess that was just one venue. I'm hoping that we will see anti-Yoon demonstrations in the hundreds of thousands. I know that the declining economy, rising prices, etc., is putting a lot of hardship on ordinary people, who now are just concerned about paying their bills, putting food on the table, finding a better paying job, etc. I first started telling some internet friends about the candlelight revolution demos in 2017 leading up to Park's impeachment. I've gotten into the habit of writing about them over the years. Lately the political situation in South Korea is changing so fast, domestically, and internationally, it's hard to keep up.

If they try to put the democratic party leader, Lee Jae-myung, in jail, he was just indicted on some bs charges, the demos could explode overnight. Other than South Korea's current administration longing to go back to the dictatorship mode, I think it's a beautiful country. Below is the song Beautiful Country by "Moonie" conveying the pride of the people there in natural gifts of their land: I have to say it's over the top love of country for the audience, but it always makes me feel good when I hear it.

@Lookout I will look forward to seeing Student of the earth's posts.

I know almost nothing about agriculture. The first time I ever stepped on farmland was in a Korean village, where the villagers were pissed about a temporary USAF landing strip built on their land. There had been growing peanuts and garlic there. But the connection between culture and agriculture is so obvious. On Chuseok, the people who live in the cities return to the their hometowns to visit family and pay homage to their ancestors. My wife grew up on a nursery her father ran, so it seems to me she can grow anything. I usually eat sesame leaves, leeks, tomatoes, peppers, from the garden. She has some herbs growing out there but I don't even know what they are.

I'm going to need help publishing anything here, because I'm illiterate on the html codes. I couldn't even post more than one youtube video at time, don't know how to post photos, etc.

Here's one subject that makes all the above possible, the propaganda machine!

From the comments at MOA

Researchers at the University of Adelaide have published a landmark paper on the activities of bot accounts on Twitter related to the conflict in Ukraine. These Australian findings are truly staggering – of 5.2 million tweets on the social media network from February 23 to March 8, between 60 to 80% were shared by fake accounts. What’s more, 90% of those posts were pro-Ukraine. [...]

The study is the first analysis of social media content related to the conflict, and covers a very small time period – just two weeks. It is almost inevitable that the level of pro-Kiev sentiment expressed by users – troll and organic alike – will have increased even further beyond the 90% recorded during this timeframe. Numerous commentators have drawn attention to the weaponization of Twitter, Facebook, et al in support of the Western proxy war in Ukraine.

One need only spend a few minutes scrolling major social media networks to identify a profusion of anonymous, recently registered users pumping out pro-Ukraine, pro-NATO, and pro-war propaganda, and attacking anyone critical of ascendant Western narratives. It is, in the words of writer Caitlin Johnstone, “the most aggressively trolled war of all time.”

that was probably not intentionally funny. We did get in a little necessary grocery shopping. I made it out and about for about 3.5 hours, which is good, and longer than I'll have to drive on my leg of the Pismo trip.

Hurricane Kay is way down on the border, San Diego and all that; we're up east of San Francisco, about 500 miles due northwest from San Diego as the crow flies, so material effects up here are really unlikely, though the tiny bit of light rain last night could have been due to that. Las Vegas might get some good rain, however, from at least one map i saw.

The assertion that bin Laden’s whereabouts have been unknown, that he could have eluded detection for a decade (including the “he’s hiding in caves along the Afghanistan/Pakistan border” and other such fables) was debunked years ago. According to a November 2003 Reuters report, bin Laden had received kidney dialysis in a US military hospital in Dubai two months before the 9/11 attacks, and again on September 10, 2001, according to Pakistani intelligence. These and other reports support the conclusion that Osama bin Laden was not only a CIA asset (one whose whereabouts were more than known), but one who was deathly ill. Other reports over the years suggest that the “mastermind” may have certainly died at some point, even while his image continued to be used incessantly to keep the “war on terrorism” alive.

President Obama’s lying before the cameras was as shameless as the clumsiness of the mainstream corporate media dance surrounding it. At the same time Obama stated in his speech that the killing of bin Laden had taken place “tonight” in a mountain hideout in Pakistan, various reporters on competing networks, citing multiple sources, contradicted Obama, stating that bin Laden was killed a week ago in a firefight near Islamabad, and that bin Laden’s body had been tested for DNA ever since. This conflict alone raises enough doubt to throw this new official story into the question. In the coming days, there will undoubtedly be more holes revealed.

Seasoned observers have said for years that Osama bin Laden—the mythic figure— would elude capture as long as the Anglo-American elites needed to continue the current course of war in the Middle East and Central Asia. He would never be captured, absolutely never be put on trial, and would not be “killed” unless political expediency demanded it. The elites, for various reasons, have chosen this hour to end this tired and overused trump card.

The “successful kill” of bin Laden comes at a convenient time. Obama’s popularity has plummeted. His political opponents are threatening to unseat him in 2012. The continued US presence in the Middle East and support for the “war on terrorism” is fragile, weakened by popular protests, and ambivalence among Americans.

The “war on terrorism” narrative, the continuing world war done in its name, will never end. It is clear, however, that some change in course is in the works; at the very least, a tactical shift.

Weird isn’t it how Osama was receiving kidney treatment at a US military hospital the day before the big false flag in history and that the CIA never put him on the most wanted list.

Global research has lots of essays on the 9/11 fallacy including great information from the 9/11 truthers organization. As others have mentioned building 7 was what exposed the lie that 2 airplanes caused 3 tall buildings to collapse. As was the already pulverized stuff from the towers as they were falling.

And the ruse continues. But Biden hasn’t mentioned foreign terrorists being a threat to the country except for the Somalia terrorists that we have to fight over there so we don’t have to fight them here. Schiff says that’s why we have to fight Russia in Ukraine so that we don’t have to fight them here.

Biden extends 9/11 emergency

The ‘terrorist threat’ behind the attacks continues to menace the country, the US president warned.

US President Joe Biden has renewed the national emergency declared by former president George W. Bush in the days following the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 for another year.

The “terrorist threat” behind the attacks that killed nearly 3,000 people “continues,” Biden wrote in a Thursday memo published in the Federal Register, adding that the “powers and authorities adopted to deal with” the attacks “must continue in effect beyond September 14, 2022.”

The 9/11 emergency declaration is just one of several Biden has extended this week alone. Also on Thursday, the president prolonged a national emergency he had declared the previous year regarding sectarian violence and human rights abuses in Ethiopia, while on Tuesday he announced the renewal of an emergency declared by his predecessor Donald Trump in 2018 regarding the threat of “foreign interference in or undermining public confidence in” US elections.

Im waiting for the day that Israel will be named as the number 1 country that interferes with our elections. Unless a candidate swears fealty to Israel they won’t get the nomination. Dennis Kucinich spilled the beans on that long ago and we we recently saw how much money Israel’s related lobbyists poured into the campaign against Nina Turner. Shitlibs love to remind people that 8 republicans went to Russia once on a 4th of July, but never mention that democrats and republicans go to Israel every year or that we are funding Israel’s genocide on the Palestinians. Funny that…

As to those who think that Putin/Russia is the greatest threat to world peace I find it funny how they leave out that America has invaded countless countries, killed millions and displaced tens of millions more and is helping the Saudis with their genocide in Yemen. Speaking of Yemen:

The West is poised to throw Yemen under the bus again to fuel its economic war on Russia

Strained by the consequences of the ongoing conflict between NATO and Russia over Ukraine, France may be destroying all prospects for peace in Yemen, in a bid to secure energy resource from the United Arab Emirates.

Considered to be home to the worst humanitarian crisis in modern history, according to the United Nations, earlier this year, its people saw glimmers of hope towards ending its seven-year long war. A ceasefire truce, which has largely held since April, has been viewed as the first step towards reaching a UN-mediated solution for peace between the Ansarallah government in Sanaa and the Saudi-led coalition forces which claim to represent the internationally backed Yemeni government in exile.

According to UN estimates, the total number of people killed in Yemen’s war already reached 377,000 by the beginning of 2022. The civilian death rate is said to have doubled, according to the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), since the controversial withdrawal of UN human rights monitors last October.

Funny how the media has never once said that America’s military actions around the world are unprovoked. Bush went into Iraq and Afghanistan unprovoked, but….

OK then. We are in a continual state of emergency. Which somehow justifies the continual war
stance and the trillions of dollars spent on threats. Like Somalia and Yemen, Iran and Russia are
somehow threatening our 'peace'? And scary China, Venezuela, and every other country that doesn't kow-tow to the unipolar agenda.

Sheesh, what is there to be afraid of?

@QMS

Extending the 9/11 threat isn’t for our safety, but for the government to keep the constitution as nothing more than a gawd damn piece of paper.

And just what hit the pentagon that fateful day?

The day before it was attacked by something Rumsfeld told us that they couldn’t account for $2.3 trillion and lo and behold the area that had the financial records was destroyed by the mysterious object. If a plane hit a concrete building you’d think the area would be littered with seats, luggage, lots of equipment and probably bodies. There were a few videos that showed that it wasn’t a plane that came in low to the ground after doing some turns that would be very difficult for an experienced pilot let alone an amateur one.

Building 7…why did a news person say that it had collapsed 15-20 minutes before it actually did? And why were the dancing Israelis allowed to leave the country and what happened to the video they made after setting up before the 1st plane hit? Why aren’t we demanding answers especially since the plans for flying planes into buildings was created in the 60's with operation northwoods?

There is so much to cause me to doubt the 9/11 narrative. I strongly suspect it was in part an inside job. As to Bin Laden, I mean come on he was living next door to the Pak military academy not exactly hiding there. The war OF terror has been very profitable, so of course Brandon would continue to milk it and extend presidential powers as well as the continued loss of our rights.

As to Israel, I'm not holding my breath that the MSM will ever even admit the Palestinian genocide. Israel's bombing of Syria and Lebanon in the last week sure hasn't been covered.

Nor do they report on our immoral role in the killing of the poorest people of the ME in Yemen.

What can you say. We've been swallowed by a war machine.

Here’s the 2nd plane

And remember that many people who worked in the towers were told to stay home that day. Plus lots of people did funny stock trades that made them lots of money. Kinda like when people did the same around the gulf oil explosion and Cheney bought an oil cleanup boat 3 weeks before the blowout.

Deaths of inconvenient investigators, bulldozing evidence, suppression of CIA and FBI documents...

Lots of parallels, if not outright connections between the 1995 Oklahoma City Murrah Bldg. bombing and 9/11.

Some of the high points covered in this article from 2015 on the 20th anniversary of OKC - article itself is not long, but watch out for deep rabbit holes...

Twenty Years Later: Unreported Facts About the OKC Bombing

Plenty of good material by the same author on that site - this from 12/21:

September 11th was a deception used by rich and powerful people to steal resources, consolidate power, and control the masses. It was just one example of such a mass deception.

Others include the following:

The CIA’s assassination of JFK
The false Gulf of Tonkin incident that escalated the CIA’s war in Vietnam
The deceptions used to justify the 1991 Gulf War
The government-sponsored 2001 anthrax attacks
Claims of weapons of mass destruction used to justify the second invasion of Iraq
The many manufactured terrorist events following 9/11
Previously hyped pandemics, including the 2005 “Bird Flu” and 2009 “Swine Flu” that were grossly exaggerated by the World Health Organization for the benefit of big pharma companies

Along with these conveniently over-looked crimes, the last 18 months have shown that the 9/11 lie was not taken seriously. Anyone who still believes that governments and media care about our health has forgotten that deep state actors murdered thousands of citizens on 9/11. The corporate media and corporate-owned governments then covered it up so that a million more could be murdered to steal resources and control people.

Historical illiteracy is largely to blame for the Covid scare although much of that illiteracy is by choice, through willful ignorance of events that cause cognitive dissonance. The examples cited above are but a few in the long history of deceptions used by governments to drive the agendas of the powerful few. People who ignore these historical facts not only turn a bind eye to history, they ignore painfully obvious features of current affairs ...

that would commit to suspending ALL states of emergency and sanctions for a period of 90 days and to not renewing any absent a full and transparent review to confirm some compelling necessity for them.

Giving government the option of disregarding what are supposed to be constitutional 'guarantees' whenever they decide to declare the existence of an emergency has to rate high on the all-time list of Bad Ideas. If one emergency somehow ends you can pretty well guarantee another will be along to replace it.

Canada is a good example of how this sort of thing works out in practice - Covid conveniently comes along and the high-sounding Charter of Rights and Freedoms is suddenly out the window and rule by fiat is in because, you know, emergency...

With the exception (I think) of the guy that headed CDC under Trump, outgoing directors have been going right into cushy and lucrative Big Pharma gigs - especially the vaccine sector - for quite a while now. I doubt Walensky plans on being an exception.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Dr. Julie Gerberding, former director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, was named president of Merck & Co Inc’s vaccine division, the company said on Monday.

Gerberding, who led the CDC from 2002 to 2009, stepped down when President Barack Obama took office.
...
“I am very excited to be joining Merck where I can help to expand access to vaccines around the world,” added Gerberding, who will head up the company’s $5 billion global vaccine business that includes shots to prevent chickenpox, cervical cancer and pneumonia.

The Russian Ministry of Defense carried out a whole range of measures to mislead the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the illusion was created that we had a “weak defense” and supposedly there was no information about the preparation of an offensive in the Balakliya and Izyum regions, now the main task is to defeat the Armed Forces grouping, military expert Konstantin told the VZGLYAD newspaper Sivkov. On Saturday, the Ministry of Defense announced the regrouping of troops in the areas of Balakliya and Izyum.

“Our military knew that an offensive was being prepared, so now the troops are regrouping to destroy the grouping of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), which has come to the Balakleya and Izyum regions. It must be borne in mind that there are no fortified areas there, so the task of destroying the most combat-ready Ukrainian units will be solved quite successfully. This will take a few more days,” said Doctor of Military Sciences Konstantin Sivkov.

The expert emphasized that over the past three days, as it became known from the report of the Ministry of Defense, more than 2 thousand Ukrainian and foreign fighters, as well as over a hundred units of armored vehicles and artillery, were destroyed. “The Armed Forces of Ukraine are suffering large daily losses. Now the main task is to defeat the advancing grouping of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, deprive it of its potential, knock out equipment that is not located in cities and fortified areas, but in open spaces. The Armed Forces of Ukraine should not have the strength and means to conduct effective defense,” the interlocutor explained.

On Saturday, the official representative of the Ministry of Defense, Lieutenant-General Igor Konashenkov , announced the regrouping of Russian troops in the Balakleya and Izyum regions within three days "to achieve the stated goals of a special military operation to liberate Donbass." Konashenkov also noted that during the transfer, distraction and demonstration activities were carried out with the designation of the real actions of the troops. “In order to prevent damage to Russian troops, a powerful fire defeat was inflicted on the enemy using aviation, missile troops and artillery,” the lieutenant general added.

Sivkov emphasizes that diversionary maneuvers were carried out in order to "pull the strike force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine out of the fortified areas." “If this grouping would have remained in Slavyansk or Kramatorsk, how long would it take to “pick out” it? And now she is in full view. Therefore, a whole range of measures was taken to mislead the enemy, an illusion was created that we had a weak defense in this direction and allegedly there was no information about the preparation of an offensive. The enemy was misled about the location and actions of our troops,” the expert added.

Russia has hit some power plants in Ukraine and a lot of areas are in a blackout. The Saker has some articles on what happened there recently and what the next plans are for Russia. One comment said that most of the troops that fought were mercenaries that are getting paid lots of money to fight. It’s going to be interesting to see what happens there this week. I guess we should stay tuned, but anyone who thought that Russia didn’t see the huge offensive coming up is mistaken according to this essay. I’m just pissed that Ukraine is sending so many civilians to their deaths. And for what? Russia is going to meet its goals.

Lol..if this is true then kos is going to have egg on his face soon after Russia takes back all the territory they left. He said that Ukraine routing Russia is the best birthday gift he could get.

ASB Military News

Has Russia hardened its approach after today’s attack on Ukrainian infrastructure?

Hard to say. This could be a one-off event or an action they had planned all along, and reserved it for winter. The only way to tell if the approach has changed is to observe the actions of the Russian Armed Forces for the following days.

If Kiev starts getting hit, it’s pretty safe to assume that the Russian Command has lost its diplomatic approach to this war (which is frankly stupid when your enemy is anything but diplomatic. However, the Russians are known for their annoyingly rigid patience in politics)

This was Russia showing Ukraine that they can turn their country upside down at any moment, a kind of “fuck around and find out” moment.
