On Hillary's "Qualifications"

Oh, I think she is uniquely qualified to continue the direction the country has been taking since Reagan.

Aggressive and interventionist, tick.

Giving the wealth of the land to the few, tick

Ignoring climate change, tick.

On the wrong side of nearly every important issue that most Americans support, tick, until the issue cannot be denied any longer at least.

The ultimate DC insider, tick.

Yes, if you admire the oligarchy and the DNC she is perfectly qualified to maintain the status quo, in fact of all the candidates on both the "left" and the "right" she is far and away the best choice, miles ahead of anyone else. However the one thing this election is showing is that dissatisfaction with the status quo is actually bipartisan, universal meh if you like. At some point it will break, it actually cant go on as it is now, no matter how much duct tape you use.

The right seem to be coagulating around Cruz as the lesser of two slime-balls, the centrists are desperately trying to deny the left. The trashing of every progressive policy advocated up until Carter is being roundly trashed as unworkable, unimaginable and just not worth the time an effort, sod the poor.

Ever since Hillary lost the health care debate in the 90's she has just given up trying and indeed embraced what many democrats of the past would have thought of as unthinkable.

Yes she is uniquely qualified to keep the 99% in their place.

From Goldwater girl to Goldplated girl.

Go Bernie

like Secretary of State, as proof of qualification, I want to reply that by that logic, Dubya is more qualified to be POTUS than Hillary because he has the experience. Just showing up for a job isn't enough, one must have accomplished something good in it to count as a qualification.

right, who made a major error in going all conspiracy theory. If they had stuck to the actual facts of the military intervention they might have made their point.

I think it's because many people don't actually understand Libya (or Syria or Yemen or Iraq or Afghanistan or anywhere else Obama and co. are), and the discussion has been reduced to a knee jerk response of Republican decision = bad no matter what and Democrats = good no matter what, and in this election cycle, Clinton = beyond reproach at all times.

Of course, as I've mentioned before, these same asshat Hillary clowns have even defended the Iraq war -- not just her vote, but the actual war itself -- because Saddam is a "bad guy".

The talking heads are suggesting a brokered rethug convention with a Ryan/Rubio ticket emerging after Trump fails to get the nomination in the first delegate ballot. Likely that means a third party run by Trump? Sure is a bizarre election.

Obama pushed all progressive ides off the table behind the scenes while claiming to the public to be pushing for them. ACA itself is a Heritage Foundation idea adjusted by the MA health care program Mitt Rmoney allowed to pass. He has been proving repeatedly that when he told Univision in December of 2012 that his policies were those of a moderate 1985 Reagan Republican, he was serious. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=677elaGIsKU

If we win the most pledged delegates, I think we win. If the party machinery wants to hold power so badly that they slip in Biden they way they're suggesting Ryan on the rethug side, the party will blow up. I don't think even they want to hold the wheel of a wreaked party. But I've been wrong before.

I just think we need to keep working toward having the most pledged delegates going into the convention. Bernie has proven again and again he is an effective politician and with the most delegates I think he will be nominated.

Ryan is a fool and would be a puppet president but he looks pretty innocuous to the casual observer unlike the other GOP candidates. Given the various controversies, some entirely bogus, some all too real, that swirl around Clinton it could well be advantage Ryan.

All his opponent has to do is bring up the details of the latest bankruptcy bill Biden pushed through the Congress, allowing corporations even more leeway to avoid paying debts (looking at YOU, Drumpf!) while making it that much harder for mere human beings to have the same privilege - and completely denying it to defrauded students over school loans.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/jackson-williams/joe-biden-true-friend-of_...
"The final version of the bill was cleverly titled the “Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act of 2005,” but it wasn’t aimed at preventing abuse or protecting consumers, and everyone knew it."

http://dir.salon.com/story/opinion/huffington/2005/03/10/bankrupt/
“So what does the bill do? It makes it harder for average people to file for bankruptcy protection; it makes it easier for landlords to evict a bankrupt tenant; it endangers child-support payments by giving a wider array of creditors a shot at post-bankruptcy income; it allows millionaires to shield an unlimited amount of equity in homes and asset-protection trusts; it makes it more difficult for small businesses to reorganize while opening new loopholes for the Enrons of the world; it allows creditors to provide misleading information; and it does nothing to rein in lending abuses....”

Millions of voters would love to deliver a payback for this kind of legalized abuse. A smart Biden opponent would quickly be all over it, and Biden would look like the corporatist shill he is no matter what he said in response.

We'll save his promotion of credit card provider protections (like charging you outrageous interest) for another post.

The only qualifications in the Constitution is that the person be 35 years of age or greater, and be a natural-born citizen (the definition of which is still up in the air especially if Calgary Cruz beats out Trump). Weaver defended Sanders for calling Clinton “unqualified” to be president on Wednesday, arguing that the unqualified line of attack originated in the Clinton campaign.

“This was an attack that was launched on their side,” Weaver said, pointing to reports that the Clinton campaign was embarking on a strategy to “disqualify” Sanders, even though Clinton has never explicitly said that Sanders is “unqualified” to be president.

“I went to law school too, I know how to say things without saying them,” Weaver said of Clinton. “Clearly that was the attack…everyone understands what was going on there.”

BLM folks brought up the bills signed by Bill Clinton in 1996 (if I am not mistaken)

#Bill Clinton was the top of twitter list for a few hours. It is now third

there will be a lot about this in the news tomorrow. Here is one article

Bill Clinton Says Black Lives Matter Activists Are Defending Murderers

Well, the Black fire wall might be in trouble.

Just in the last couple of days more people are being kicked off food stamps -- people not working 20 hours per week. But some of these folks cannot work for various reasons: health, few jobs, transportation, etc.

Ohio ranks third in food insecurity after MISS and another southern state.

I hope this is brought up in the campaign and the debates.

Money for bombs, but not money for food stamps.

those people love to use that phrase, "under the bus", when we say criticize the PACs that endorse Hillary as if those PACs are the actual organizations. And now, after all the screaming at Bernie because of the early BLM events like Netroots Nation, we see it was all phony. BLM is, we find out, protecting "super-predators". Goldang, they're so phony I can hardly stand it!

By the way, all of those hillbots are sick to their stomach. They were Bernie fans until yesterday (sure....) but now that Bernie has said Hills is not qualified they've switched. They point out that Hills never said Bernie was unqualified, although it was clear enough for the Washington Post to report it....but now it's not.

Well the funny thing is, Bernie never said straight out "Hillary is unqualified". It was all couched in "ifs". Like "if she's wrong about this and if she's wrong about that..." and instead of arguing that she's qualified becauses she's NOT what Bernie said, they cry because she is EXACTLY what he said.

…from a fresh young voice, that happened to have highly detailed source linking. The 18 year-old author was addressing her numerous personal objections to candidate Clinton. At some point I forgot I was reading about Clinton and embraced the idea that I was a first-time voter presented with a voting choice that could only be described as an assault.

Hillary’s position on abortion is considered pro-choice but I want to challenge that claim because choice is more than the legal ability, it’s also the feeling that you have a choice. If you feel shamed and guilty for wanting an abortion and then don’t get one, that is not having choice or bodily autonomy. In 2008, she said “Keep it safe, legal, and rare and by rare, I mean rare.” Everyday Feminism writer, Laura Kacere, does a perfect job explaining why the “rare” part is not very pro-choice. Second part is that she said, in response to being asked if she supports late-term abortion: “No — I have been on record in favor of a late-pregnancy regulation that would have exceptions for the life and health of the mother.” What about rape victims? Here’s an article explaining in-depth the truths of late-term abortions and the need for late term abortions to be legal. Abortion needs to be kept safe and legal, fuck the abortion-shaming “rare” bullshit.

::

I didn’t touch on many problematic things regarding Hillary Clinton such as supporting capital punishment, the time she willingly took a private case & used victim blaming to defend a child rapist (+ refused to apologize for laughing at the victim), pushing fracking around the globe, accepting just as much money from private prisons as Marco Rubio, leading the fight to give F-15 fighter jets to Saudi Arabia to cluster bomb Yemen after Saudi Arabia gave the Clinton Foundation $10 million, refusing to vote on bills that would’ve regulated the oil industry, refusing to vote on carbon emissions trap & trade bill, calling for “easing” of marijuana laws but not decriminalization, sharing the same imperialist ideology of Henry Kissinger, staying silent as a Walmart Board of Director as Walmart crushed unions, supporting austierty measures, her vital role in the 2009 Honduras coup, and the list just keeps going on and on.

She also adds a few words about "incrementalism" which I found particularly poignant, given the young author's background:

The issue of healthcare is important and inaccessible to me. When I hear Hillary Clinton say a ‘single-payer healthcare system will never ever happen’ is a giant middle finger to me. I won’t and can’t deny that the Affordable Care Act has made healthcare more accessible but it’s not good enough. It didn’t reach me and thousands of other poor people; predominately women and people of color. You’re not fighting for women or all disempowered people, if you’re not fighting for universal healthcare.

How shameful that young voters are facing such a dismal choice.

Something went very, very wrong in the US.
