On November 22, 1963,, right in the middle of my senior year in High School, the world changed. That day and the next few were quite an education in many ways and on many subjects., and an eye opener as well. Yes, it can happen here. It has and hence it does and it will. It wasn't our nation's first assassination, but, for great numbers of us, it was clearly the worst, and, it was a sea change, From now on this would be part of our life and culture, assassination as an instrument of political change, as a political act; that writing was on the wall. Henceforth, assassination was "on the table", at least in one's mind. "If person 'X' gets elected or appointed or does this or proposes that, will they be allowed to live? " "Does our candidate have adequate protection? Are they safe?" On the other side of the coin, assassination jokes became common, both real jokes and those "jokes" that are veiled threats or calls to action.
It also brought home the perpetual uncertainty that comes with having a government that openly keeps secrets, secretly keeps secrets, lies early and often, and has official propagnada outlets. What and who can be trusted. Once the floodgates of assassinations opened, accidents, illnesses and "mysterious" deaths all became suspect too. For many, their first reaction to the news of Wellstone's plane crash was along the lines of "oh shit, you're kidding me ..."
~~ Murder Most Foul
The man who doomed the Earth. November 22, 1891, saw the birth of Edward Bernays, the father of PR, modern advertising, and propaganda. His techniques and teachings directly and indirectly created consumerism and comsumerist society and made it much easier to launch wars in the name of things like US Interests, Human Rights, Democracy, and other psychologically manipulative code words for oil, resources, political control, and MIC profits.

---Please Note: I wish my Monday Open Threads to remain on the front page because I sporadically say things in them that I wish to be as widely read as possible. Accordingly, please do not post any Covid-19 related commentary in the comments. Thank you. There is a separate OT, Part B, aka The Dose, where all such material is welcome. Thanks again.
--Ok, it's an open thread, so it's up to you folks now. So what's on your mind?

good morning Moonbat. Didn't read the whole article,
skimmed and skipped. Independently of anything therein, I agree tht the timing of the shots make it extremely unlikely in that working that 10" bolt action and aiming at a moving target is not too likely giving the actual timing on sound tape.
Yes, thanks for Gilliam indeed.

JFK to 911
A couple of interesting long form documentaries. Both are worthwhile if you have time.
JFK to 911, everything is a rich man's trick (2 hours)

Edit to add: This video ends at about 2 hours and it leaves you with the replacement of JFK's corpse with a murdered cop. Try this link to finish the film. Didn't noticed till I watched it last night.

Thanks for the OT. I like the idea of "go for a ride day". We may do just that when the sun comes out after these early AM showers clear. I think the canyon road should still be colorful.
Have a good one!

Good afternoon LO, hope you had a ride and a good one.
Thanks for the videos

Dulles did it.
We wanted decent healthcare, a living wage and free college.
The Democrats gave us Biden and war instead.
I doubt that he was the trigger man, however.

I have long found it
I have long found it interesting how TPTB managed to keep from the public the fact that there was a carload of 8-9 SS agents riding just a few feet behind Kennedy's car, none of them riding on his car as they normally would. Few in the public, it would seem, are aware of this fact to this day. Only one agent reacted to the shots, too late, though he reacted to the actions of Jackie climbing onto the trunk of the car, as he was assigned to protect her.
Also we know that the authorities kept the Z film from airing on nationwide tv until 1975 (Geraldo Rivera late late night show), so for 12 yrs the public was kept from fully understanding the violent backward head movement of Kennedy at the time of the fatal head shot. This way they would not jump to hasty conclusions about there being a shot from the front.
Otherwise, as I noted recently here, this case since the 50th anniversary in 2013 seems to have slipped deeply into the history books, not mentioned much these days in the MSM, and of course there is another huge issue we are all facing right now since early 2020 that holds our attention. Meanwhile many CIA documents on the case remain bottled up from public disclosure, and Biden seems to be assisting in this ongoing coverup.
Afternoon wokkamile. They're burying it as fast as they can.

Ah Bernays, Sigmund Freud's nephew and the PR man
for Republican, Democrats and capitalists convincing average American they were on the same side.
The full interview is only 7.52 min which is worth a full listen. I started in a little later into the conversation where seemed significant to contemporary events.

I wonder if Edward Bernays
I wonder if Edward Bernays was related to Murray C. Bernays, who I recently read about.
in a book The Road to Nuremberg, by Bradley F Smith.
He was one of the US military's authors of the plan to try the German leadership for crimes after World War II He was a civilian attorney who was performing his military service as an attorney for the War Department. The idea to try the Nazis for a broad overreaching conspiracy against the entire world was his. That was necessary because the crimes they had committted were of the nature that they didnt fit into neat little boxes. "But you knew them when you saw them". They were breaking new legal ground.
The Road to Nuremberg is a fascinating book.
Only through marriage. Murray Cohen took his wife's
name in order to ensure that it would be passed on to somebody.

Oddly when doing the search to answer the question
One site mentioned Murry married Edwards sister. Another odd connection, the same search hit a write-up mentioning one of the founders of Netflix was a grand-nephew.

Mother Superior was greatly agitated.
She came into the classroom and told us all to go home. The President was shot. The first Catholic president was shot. Every TV program cancelled just news focused on the death and assassination.
Didn't the Americans and Brits win the Battle of Stalingrad?
Don't make plans for next autumn just yet. My bet is that Zalensky will start a conflict/war with Russia just as the midterms get hot. And the US and NATO will jump in on the side of Ukrainian Nazis. Several years of propaganda have convinced Americans of the need to go to war with Russia. Will the nukes fly?
afternoon Mr. W. That and Kursk too. Very busy back then,

Dylan's Work is so moving
The final words with JFK speaking are particularly important now. His death was the end of American greatness measured in something other than military might and Dylan chronicles this beautifully, showing us musicians of his era. We are more than our bombs and guns.
Tonight Oliver Stone has a 2 hour piece appearing on Showtime starting at 7:00 eastern time. Apparently, he will be updating his work on JFK.

Sliver of good news coming soon from Israel today. This is one of the changes that the Bennet government is making as it diverges from Bibi. No, it is not about a change to the Palestinian oppression or an end to war. Not yet, anyway.
