The Eastern Rosella is a fabulous bird. Sure shows up well against that background.
I got me a camera with a viewfinder. I immediately ran out and took a variety of pics without taking any trouble to find out how to use it. Our redbud was in good form so I took a shot of it showing said form, and another longer shot which, by pure accident, caught an interloper. Much more recently I've started trying to figure out how to use it.

That, in its essence, is fascism--ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or by any other controlling private power. -- Franklin D. Roosevelt --
You're right about showing up well in front of its backdrop, all except its green feathers. Sometimes I think the Rosella is just showing off ; ).
The redbud seems to be an iconic symbol and colour of Spring, regardless of hemisphere.
It looks like your new camera has good macro capacity. Do you boil those peanuts? For years of using digital cameras before my current one I felt like I was blind-shooting at times. Some of the results were quite surprising and satisfying though. But I am happy to have the choice.
Interesting statement. Thanks for all.

Fantastic you got a camera! The pics look great. That's a big Redbud. Here we get one of the Elfin butterflies on them. They are an outlier related to hairstreaks with a weird scalloped hindwing, and a brown butterfly. I would guess there is a type of Elfin where you are. They are mostly spring fliers only, ours, Henry's Elfin, only flies from Feb. to April and that is it for the year. Cool stuff, can't wait to see more pics!

Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better.

So lush! I love yer habitat shots Janis! Are the Rosella introduced non-native there with a self-sustaining feral population? The Crimson Rosella is a real beauty too, most of the Rosellas are pretty fancy on the color scale. Great pic!

Yeah spring, means exploding green, migrant birds in summer breeding plumage.
American Goldfinch
Yesterday we had a Lazuli Bunting on patio, they are scarce here, just a few annually.
This is a green or yellow morph Pine Siskin, which was sick unfortunately. This color morph is said to be 1 out of a couple or few hundred birds, though I birded for years without ever seeing one.
This was a Scissor-tailed Flycatcher, bad light and grainy, darn head turned away, and had to remove a bunch of Mesquite sticks to get it to this mess. Gonna get one of these yet.
Hope all are doing well!

I'm sorry for the siskin. Too bad that one has to stick to the prescribed colour to survive.
Thanks dystopian.

Thanks for the photo and smile el
Squawky and Spouse could be anything from pure personal entertainment to two engaging characters in a children's book.
