More Divisive ID politics

This one’s an upside-down version of Jimmy Dore’s interview with a Boogaloo Boy in which the Message got buried by the Messenger. It seemed to have spawned another epic Twitter Spat.

Naomi Wolf joins Tucker Carlson to warn we’ve become a Covid-19 police state. Guess which one liberals think is the bigger crime?’, Helen Buyniski, RT.com, Feb. 23, 2021

“But Wolf’s words – broadly appealing though they may be to the inhabitants of a country pummeled within an inch of its life by years of suicidal government policies that bailed out mega-corporations and waged ruinous wars while leaving ordinary people twisting in the wind – were lost on many in her audience. These zeroed in on Carlson as if he – not what Wolf described as the “merger of corporate power and government power really characteristic of Italian fascism in the ’20s” – was the real authoritarian threat.

The Fox News host joked that Wolf, a former adviser to Bill Clinton’s presidential reelection campaign, was “undoubtedly losing friends” not just by coming on his show, but by posting about the Covid-19 police state to begin with. He even admitted he hadn’t read her tweets because he had assumed he’d disagree with them, chiding his audience to “treat people as individuals rather than as stand-ins for whole political parties."

But those remarks didn’t come near encapsulating the disturbing obstinacy of some of Wolf’s followers, who flew to pieces over their erstwhile heroine embracing a pundit they had long since written off as a “white supremacist” – even extending the label to cover her, in an egregious feat of guilt by association.”

Buyniski writes of the many ironies involved, and brings Tweets castigating Wollf, and later admirers of her and Tucker.

@austinruse
Replying to @naomirwolf @KurtSchlichter and @TuckerCarlson

Excellent. Stand up. Fight back.
7:23 PM • Feb 22, 2021

The rest is largely by way of Buyniski’s opinion, and definitely thought-provoking, agree or not. Citizens of many nations have been openly demonstrating in the street about losing their civil liberties as well as their livelihoods during the past year in lockdown.

I found the show on youtube and have cued it up to the time when Wolf speaks for about 7 minutes.

quite a deal then, for carlson to air an interview with a dissenter.

@Bernindownthehouse only in the infancy of Gene experimentation with a vast, enormous, string of interconnected parts. There's guesses on what's possible, but the ecology of the genetic realm works like any other ecology. Bring in rabbits where they weren't before and the consequences could be completely unforeseen.

It is well known that RNA can be “reverse transcribed” into DNA. Residing in our cells are enzymes called “reverse transcriptases”. These enzymes convert RNA into DNA. Multiple sources for this class of enzymes exist within our cells. These reverse transcriptases are normally made by other viruses termed “retroviruses”. HIV is a retrovirus and so is Hepatitis B, but there are many other retroviruses that fall in this category. In addition to these external viruses, there are viruses that are hard-wired into our genomic DNA called endogenous retroviruses (ERVs).

These ERVs harbor instructions to produce reverse transcriptase. In addition to ERVs, there are mobile genetic elements residing in our DNA called LTR-retrotransposons that also encode for reverse transcriptase enzymes. To top it all off, reverse transcriptase is naturally used by our cells to extend the telomeres at the end of chromosomes.

These endogenous reverse transcriptase enzymes can essentially take single-stranded RNA and convert it into double-stranded DNA. This DNA can then be integrated into the DNA in the nucleus through an enzyme termed DNA integrase.

Too be clear the author thinks this is a hugely unlikely thing to happen. IIRC, he put it at like a .00000001% chance (or some magnitude like that). But then again there's that guy at home getting hit by the meteor.

Moderna in its own literature says their product descends from their Gene Modification Therapy program. Pfizer says something similar.

@Raggedy Ann
Our genes are made of DNA. When information in our DNA is needed for some process in a cell a temporary copy of the information is made with mRNA. Individual copies of mRNA will last in a cell for a few hours to a couple of days. Then the cell breaks the mRNA down and recycles the chemical components. This same process naturally breaks the mRNA in the vaccine within a couple of days.

The vaccines with mRNA do NOT affect the DNA in our cells. The vaccines contain mRNA that shows our cells how to make a protein that is found on the surface of the virus that causes Covid. Our cells then alert our immune system to the presence of this viral protein. After this our immune systems will recognize the viral protein promptly if we get infected with the virus. This allows our bodies to start fighting the virus before an infection becomes serious.

@ScienceTeacher know of that isn't subject to unforeseen change when foreign elements are introduced? Cause, that's just something inherent in reality. After a cell has been hijacked to make the spike protein... what's its new normal after that is done? Same as the old, or does it get off-kilter? Nobody knows, can possibly know, for at least a few years.

I think it unwise to assert categorically that there'll be no ill effects from these novel mRNA procedures. A "probably" or even "a most likely" -- a better formulation.

Here's an interesting and comprehensive risk/benefit analyses.

Since the start of this nightmare a year ago, the contradiction has been hiding in plain sight -- you cannot fight a war democratically. You cannot allow the ignorant masses to decide when to launch D-Day or how to prevent mass deaths from a contagious disease.

So, ok. "Science" gets to be Dictator out of necessity.

And "Science" will honorably give back the power to dictate most significant human behavior at the earliest possible moment, and we can go back to Constitutional Liberty.

@wendy davis .

My take from when I starting posting on this board through several attempted retirements is that I do no know what the truth is about the virus, and nobody else does either as it is a novel and mutating phenomenon.

But I know a lot about bullshit and there is a shit load of it flying under the flag of "science."

The vaccine situation is a real conundrum for my wife and me as well. She is more willing than me to take the chance, but we both believe that "faith" in the "science" that has created this smorgasbord of injections from profit making corporations is fucking insane. Neither of us believe, particularly, that anybody is trying to poison us on purpose.

It is just that how can you possibly look at, for example, the election, the vote count and the inauguration and conclude -- "Yeah, we got our shit together as a society." Everything is fucked up. More fucked up than ever.

And yet the MSM and everybody who takes it seriously act like there is something wrong with YOU if you are skeptical about the various miracle drugs that have been summoned into existence at Warp Speed.

I read from Team Lockdown that my skepticism is absurd as all the "normal" processes for approving a vaccine have been followed meticulously. Hmmmph. Anything "normal" in this society is highly suspect as far as things are concerned chez moi.

Other people can have their faith in science (and the communications system that lets people know what REAL NOT FAKE science is), but I am not going to take the word of "science" on anything so inherently mysterious as the Asteroid Virus without a big honking grain of salt.

development to be so fast.
The original SARS epidemic around 2003 led to intense research about coronaviruses and an effort to develop vaccines against them. SARS was eradicated so there was no testing of the possible vaccines in humans, but much of the groundwork was done.

The there was a serious outbreak of MERS in 2012. This was a different type of coronavirus that killed about a third of the people with diagnosed cases. Research on coronaviruses was increased.

The only part of the research still needed for the Covid vaccines was to determine the safety and effectiveness for humans.

concept, blair mountain. as i understand it, the elderly, especially those with other conditions that might pre-dispose them to covid-19, are more susceptible. there've been relatively few cases in our county, save for nursing homes. otoh, the navajo nation has been rampant with cases, and many deaths, as i remember it. but many of the traditionals living in hogans have no running water, either, and are elderly.

when people come to our house, we ask them at the door if they'd like us to put on masks. most don't, but then most aren't wearing masks when they arrive. we're apt to hug one another at will, even though we and often they...are geezers and geezerettes.

some are more...ambiguous: yes masks one day, no masks another.

this is ACK-shally hilarious. for posterity on a dead thread chock full of most excellent comments.

World Economic Forum shouted down on Twitter for suggesting Covid-19 lockdowns ‘improved cities all over the world’, 27 Feb, 2021, RT.com

A video accompanying the Friday tweet by the WEF shows images of deserted streets, grounded airliners and idle factories, then notes record declines in air pollution and a drop in carbon emissions. It later shows busy, smog-choked highways and notes that “the drop won't slow climate change unless we lock in emissions cuts.”

The tone-deaf tweet – coming amid millions of Covid-19 deaths and countless lives and businesses being destroyed by lockdowns – was quickly ratioed by Twitter users. The WEF's comments and linked article about the historic quietness brought on by lockdowns leading to better detection of small earthquakes were lost on most observers, who focused instead on the group's apparent affection for a dystopian, depopulated world.
