Bernie's Magic Carpet Ride To Victory Began In The Bronx Last Night
Good morning my dear friends, here is the first of what will be an avalanche of good Bernie news from here on out. The Bernie campaign turned the corner last night and the magic carpet ride is on. "All right, G! What are we smoking today?" :=) I've watched a whole lotta Bernie speeches. Last night's speech was in a whole different league. Remember the pleas for Bernie to "draw the contrasts" sharper? Heh, heh, heh, if you watched last night's speech, you woulda done the same chair dancing I did. He waited until NYC. Why? Bernie is smarter than us.

Here's a typical meh MSM report that missed the whole damned thing.
http://observer.com/2016/03/bernie-sanders-rocks-the-bronx/
Mr. Sanders, speaking at a campaign rally in the Mott Haven section of the Bronx tonight, declared that he would “reinvest” in the poverty-stricken South Bronx and, as always, make this country a place that doesn’t just work for the “millionaires and billionaires.” He wasted little time gleefully drawing contrasts between himself and the former secretary of state, who has courted Wall Street, set up a super PAC to back her candidacy, and supported the Iraq War and past free-trade deals.
“We’ve got some very real differences,” Mr. Sanders, sounding notably hoarse, declared. “Establishment politics and establishment economics, the same old same old, is not working and this is what this campaign is about.”
Irking Clinton supporters everywhere, he returned to a favorite vulnerability: her six-figure speaking fees. “As some of you know, Secretary Clinton has given a lot of speeches on Wall Street behind closed doors and she has received 250,000 bucks a speech,” he said. “Now, I kinda think that if you are gonna get paid $250,000 for a speech, it must be a brilliant speech, it must be an earth-shattering speech written in Shakespearean prose.”
His Bronx stump speech was typical Bernie, with little flourishes and local wrinkles for a Big Apple crowd. The Brooklyn native noted he grew up in the city and attended its public schools, and spoke specifically about cutting down on high asthma rates in the Bronx and creating more affordable housing.
“If we win in New York, we are going to make it to the White House,” he promised as “Bernie” cheers rained down upon him. New York City, and the South Bronx, may not end up as favorable territory to Mr. Sanders, a Vermont independent, on the April 19th Democratic primary. But if the turnout at tonight’s rally is any indication, and if a large number of these people are actually registered Democrats, Mr. Sanders is going to be a real threat to Ms. Clinton in New York, the state she represented in the Senate for eight years.
Thousands jammed a baseball field on the other end of St. Mary’s Park just to watch Mr. Sanders on a big screen while thick lines snaked around the block to pass through security. The smaller number who could crowd in to actually view the self-described democratic socialist, who spoke from the stage on a blacktop with public housing towers at his back, treated him as the liberal icon he’s become. They chanted, waved signs and cheered the political revolution that see as inevitable once Mr. Sanders somehow fells Ms. Clinton, the Democratic front-runner, and rolls to victory in November. (The Sanders campaign claimed 18,500 people attended the rally.)
I was astonished last night. By Bernie and by c99. While I watched the C-span link (TY JeckylnHyde!) I saw the c99 comment stream flow by. If anyone was watching Bernie, I didn't notice it. The comments were All-Clinton-All-The Time. I couldn't believe my eyes. While Bernie gave The Speech - one that will destroy Clinton in NY - c99 folks were talking Clinton.
Here's what I said in a comment while watching the speech: Bernie took over the game. I'm amazed by this evening on c99. It's like c99 was sitting in a NYPD patrol car watching a poor old bag lady soiling herself while Bernie just robbed the bank behind you :=) Well, I wuv you all and thanks for being patient yet again with me. Have a peaceful evening and enjoy tomorrow's headlines. The magic carpet ride just flew into the air tonight. Happy days lie ahead.
I'm here to tell you that - excluding an act of dog - Bernie will win the nomination and the general election. If you grasp how he is setting up Clinton for a NY loss, you will be a very happy camper.
If you respond, I am interested in your analysis of how Bernie set up the NY state election. I really don't give a rubber duck about DNC/Clinton/blah blah blah. Look at what the captain of the team is doing, not at what the opponent is doing. Bernie is smarter than me, you, or anyone else.
The magic carpet ride began in the Bronx last night. Ride with Bernie, not with his opponents.
Peace be with us, if we work for it with peaceful hearts (as ever, I say this not cause I'm good at it, but because I'm bad at it),

I had to work last night and couldn't watch it, but I'm off to immerse myself in it now....
Hi, jiordan! Enjoy Bernie's speech. Methinks you'll be pleased.
And TY for the link. What putz I was: forgot to put it in :=) Well, it was written at zero dark stupid after a bad night. Thanks again mate,

Happy to help
I wanted to watch it and your post reminded me to go find it--so thanks right back
Maybe a title w link to the actual rally wd have gotten more
attention. There were a couple thousand folks watching it in real-time online last night. Just not here, I guess.
TY mate, JeckellnHyde posted it and I'll edit it quickly.

Thank you for this wonderful post.
If we had free and fair elections you would be right. There were shenanigans in heavily black voting districts in NY with initial counts being ZERO for President Obama. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/02/16/nyregion/16vote.html?_r=1

Don't believe everything you think.
It appears that was just the initial report
and that was corrected when the actual count came in. No surprise it was made to look like Clinton has a clean sweep of Rangel's district, but in reality, she didn't.
And this time around, I don't see people buying into the CNN story like they did in 2008. In fact, I saw a story about how people turned to Google Docs for info on Hawai'i when the MSM failed to report in a timely manner (http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/elections/2016/2016/03/27/ha...).
Its not that they can't pull dirty tricks, but I think its going to be a lot harder to get away with it this time. Twitter, smartphones, Facebook...information gets out faster than they can suppress it now.
TY Hester! Bernie is smarter than Obama, eh. He knows.

Hey Gerrit
I don't doubt you are right but shenanigans are shenanigans. Look at AZ. Just sayin'.
Don't believe everything you think.
It's a must-watch for sure.
Everyone here needs to see it. It was special, even for a Bernie speech (I think they're all special).
Thanks for the heads up for everyone, Gerrit!
Welcome and TY, gbb :=)

I will make it a priority to watch the Bronx rally vid this morning, thanks for the post and the optimism!
Speaking only for myself, of course!, the revolting absurdities coming from our opponent and her minions in the past 24 hours or so just reinforces to me that WE ARE WINNING!
please forgive me in advance for this, LOL, it kinda captures my feeling though: Oh I tried to make it start at :25 but that didnt work.

Wow, Bernie's on fire
My only fear is that he's going to lose his voice. He sounds really hoarse...
Bernie was very busy in NY yesterday
This is a must watch, also!

I admit it. I don't watch his speeches.
He could come out naked with his hair on fire. Hillary could boil babies in Central Park. There is nothing either of them can do or say that will change what I think of them or how I vote. Bernie = good. Hillary = bad. But now that you've shared your enthusiasm, I will watch it.
"Religion is what keeps the poor from murdering the rich."--Napoleon
Ty dkmich. It's a game changer; he shows how he's gonna win
in his real sharp contrasts. He made a long string of very NY-specific attacks that will circulate throughout the state over the weekend. Then he'll go roaring into NY on a screaming high from a major WI win and drive these points home all next week. Get ready for the magic carpet ride.
It baffles me completely why progressives don't watch and listen to the captain of their team. Progs are so fixated on Clinton, they can't see the forest for the trees. Proggies need to play more team sports so they'd learn how to win games. I see the article/comment threads here in a very different light than you folks. I see people here shooting themselves in the gut all day long: why on earth would they do that? If progs paid attention to what their captain says and does, especially in rallies, they'd have far more confidence in the game. It's self-defeating to fixate on the opposing team without listening and following Bernie's strategies and tactics (retweet/comment/talk,etc).
More on that at 10. TY and best wishes. I wuv you all :=)

when hillary became a ny senator and voted war
i got it right then, she was going to be the battle-axe like margaret thatcher, she'll find herself a falklands war to get started, invent one if there is none to be found.
when and if the ny voters keep on encouraging this sort of behavior, letting a battle-axe run amok in their state and then onto the world stage, i fear for the very future of humanity.
yes, urban americans will be brash and loud and hustlers to survive, howard stern/billy joel are the 2 dicotomies that define this 'new york state of mind', but i believe and i hope most smart people from nyc are more of the latter rather than the former, by and large intensely liberal and progressive. which is good for bernie and the world at large.
all the other wheeler-dealers in ny may go for hillary instead, it's predictable in my mind because nice guys will finish last. or so the saying goes.
Eish, ngant. I hear your fears: don't watch the oppo; watch the
captain; he shows us how he's gonna win.
If your fear means you cannot listen to the captain, just do this: Do me a favour: watch the NY poll trends every day from now to the election there - the graphs themselves - and you'll see the victory as it happens in real time. Go to Huffpo Pollster and RCP's polling graphs. I dare you mate: You're gonna be real happy every day.

you keep an eye out for that little sparrow, would you, please. maybe it will come back.
Nathan, you're a champion, big Ty to you mate. We'll keep
our eyes on the little sparrows together my friend. The old Galilean hasid had it right: the little sparrows are from heaven. Bernie knew that rightaway with the little finch. It's real good to meet you my friend.

It was a great great speech
I watched it last night and I LOVED it. But Bernie's voice is shot, he needs to take a few speaking days off. That man is incredible. The things he said drove the crowd wild. Me too!!!
Hi angel, I dunno how he does it: Bernie's stamina is s/t else!

Same as his Penn. speech
Except he didn't have Ms Dawson in Penn..
The speeches are basically the same, slightly different wording here and there.
I like the Penn. speech better because there he seemed less tired and the Hillary's speech through the free wall street speech part was delivered betttter (imho). Bernie in Penn. you can see my comment therein here. (included because common, everyone wants to read me!)
Last night in N.Y. Bernie said if we win N.Y., we're taking the fight to the White House.
And I believe him.
Go New York!
Thanks for the essay Gerrit. I poked a little fun at you in your 'live' essay, but I missed the live broadcast so you may have missed my comments.

I saw your posts, CuzG.
I had just gotten home and saw the top story was about HRC belittling the greenpeace person. I quickly commented and found JnH's diary with your comments. I quickly loaded the vid and watched it on YouTube. Bernie was so fkn awesome! What I heard was him saying things like, "we reject...; we reject...: we have a right to...; we have a right to..." to me, this was a change in that he is getting the people to think in communion. That's what is needed - to bring the people together and think in a community fashion. This is what I heard last night as the game changer. We have, indeed, turned that corner. We are on the road to victory. Believe it.

Oh, TY so much, CuzRA. If folks would pay att to bernie more,
they'd see it - And feel it - too. TY again. I often feel here like old knut sweeping with my little broom against the tide of "OMG it's aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawfulllllllll." I so hope you will look at my newest article on local stories of success. We can only control what we can control: fretting constantly about what we can't control is so useless.
I wish there was a way I could shut off the comment sidebar. Where's my duck tape? :=) Duck tape fixes everything - just ask Red Green.

TY for your infectious enthusiasm.
I noticed your comments last night and so tuned in to Bernie's speech. I stayed up past my bedtime watching it and did notice (as you said) the sharper contrast. GOOD I say. I hope Bernie keeps doing that. I really think he needs to keep pounding on those sharper contrasts. Keep working on that 'tone', but just in the opposite way as requested (demanded?).
The reactions that Bernie gets from pointing out (what most here know to be) those obvious differences, are quite telling. When HRC looses her cool as she did yesterday, and reveals her real feelings towards our issues, then it tells me she will not ever address those problems as we hope. Her reaction about the fossil fuel money tells me, in no uncertain terms, that she will never try to rein those industries in.
Hence, climate change will never be made priority in her administration. Bernie has to keep making this contrast clear as a bell for the potential voters.
Ty rand, you wunnerful friend you :=) Why don't folks see that
she's already in full meltdown? While Bernie's arrow is now straight up. There's very little to worry about. The two contrasting trajectories are obvious.

I see it but I worry about shenanigans
I think if the democratic process was allowed to work, we'd be fine. But they are going to have to pry that crown out of Clinton's cold, dead hands, so I worry about what they might do to derail things...
Nevertheless - things are looking up!
