Nord Stream 2 pipeline is about to be finished

nord_0.PNG

How is this possible?
Over and over and over again the the headlines made it clear that the US had stopped the evil Russians from completing the gas pipeline to Germany.

As I have stated before, I think sanctioning or kicking Russia out of SWIFT. Ukrainians pushing hard on this. Of course, one pundit noted that countries like Germany would have to join Russia's alternative system to be able to buy and sell goods and services.

@MrWebster

I think sanctioning or kicking Russia out of SWIFT.

Kicking Russia out of SWIFT would:
1) neutralize all of our sanctions (no enforcement mechanism)
2) it would be our last card, short of war, so
a) it had BETTER work because
b) failure would lead to war

Ukrainians pushing hard on this.

Ukraine is what all of this is about. Ukraine and Poland don't want to lose billions in transit fees, while Russia doesn't want to fund countries that are hostile to them.

BTW, Turkstream should be pumping gas all the way to Hungary by Spring.

Once Nord 2 is operating Ukraine loses its ability to make mischief with Russia's gas sales. If they attempt to cut off the pipelines that crisscross Ukraine then Russia will switch to Nord 2. Russia may do this anyway. That means that Ukraine becomes dead weight for the West. becoming bunch of fascist oligarchs running a poor country into the ground. Ukraine is big enough that it will soon be facing lots of problems, a failing infrastructure, starvation et al. We know that the US/NATO will keep bolstering up their army, but most Ukrainians are not motivated to be waging war against Russia. A US land war against Russia over the Russian enclaves just won't end well. Their coast along the Black Sea voted for the pro-Russian candidates back when they had free elections. Once the chaos spreads expect lots of Ukrainians not sworn to fascism to break off from the rump state around Kviv.

I know I've been predicting the collapse of the pro-western pro-fascist Ukraine for six years, so I don't recommend anyone make any bets based on what I say.

@Bob In Portland

weren't our loan guarantees meant to buy U.S. LNG, or products of fracking, instead of allowing Ukraine to buy Russian products? I mean, isn't the scam the fact that the American taxpayer will pay for the products that make it possible for Ukrainian energy kleptocrats and U.S. plunderers to flourish?

So I mean, isn't this whole racket about our loan guarantees vs whatever the people of Ukraine could or could not afford on their own? Then, of course, because they default, the people of Ukraine have to accept austerity, a reduction of their social benefits, because, well, that's just fair, right?

So it's a win-win-win-win situation, right? Unless you're a Ukrainian person, in which case you get crushed by Nazi mercenaries also armed and trained by the American taxpayer. In other words, starve or die. Meanwhile the Blob gets richer.

That, in its essence, is fascism--ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or by any other controlling private power. -- Franklin D. Roosevelt --
