REPORT ALL INJURIES
~
Report All Injuries small.jpg
.

I found this first aid kit in a free pile on my walk recently. I thought it would make a great art piece. Then I saw the writing.

REPORT ALL INJURIES

What? Corona virus deaths? Jews in WWII? The critters burned to a crisp in the fires? Flint? Say Her Name? Ideas raced.

~
[video:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8uGnEc0DhY4]
.

And yet no idea. Report all injuries. To whom. Gaia? Should I apologize. Yes, I do it daily, actually. Say I am so sorry we are killing you. WTF? Way to many neurons firing. Make art.

Bones? The dead are calling.

Bones small.jpg

Time? Time is running out? Dunno. All of the above.

This morning I read that the COVID-19 numbers are up in North and South Dakota. My first thought was, I hope they die. It has come to this and it says a lot. No I don't hope they die, but the fact that that was my first thought says how crazy things are. Not how cra cra I am. (Please refrain from comments regarding this.) No, it says a lot about the time we are living in. It says a lot about blatancy.

We live in the time of blatancy.

And it's really fucked up that it has come to this. Time is flying by. 2030 or die. So be it. I have no confidence in the ability of people to get it together and yet I believe that it is possible. Because it is.

Running out of time.jpg

It's your open thread, now...

Restoring natural landscapes damaged by human exploitation can be one of the most effective and cheapest ways to combat the climate crisis while also boosting dwindling wildlife populations, a scientific study finds.

If a third of the planet’s most degraded areas were restored, and protection was thrown around areas still in good condition, that would store carbon equating to half of all human caused greenhouse gas emissions since the industrial revolution.

Whatever one’s politics, it’s pure George Orwell / 1984 for Merriam-Webster to be changing word definitions in the dictionary at the drop of the hat, with the sole aim of helping or hindering the day-to-day efforts of political campaigns and candidates.

https://www.zerohedge.com/political/merriam-webster-modifies-word-defint...

Also: the latest example I’ve come across of Big Tech’s total mindlessness, this time involving Google’s effort to digitize old books:
https://archive.org/details/bub_gb_RDI5AAAAMAAJ

Like many older German books, this one was apparently printed in a Fraktur typeface, which Google’s optical scanning process failed to take into account, yielding only gibberish, except for certain passages in Latin where, as was the custom among German printers, the font switched to Antiqua (what we nowadays would see as a normal Roman-style font) for the Latin words.

@lotlizard "sexual preference" in reference to anyone that identifies as LBGT anytime in the past three decades?

MW only did what it does continuously. Defining words and terms as commonly used and updating that as needed. English is particularly prone to evolving. The anti anything folks are constantly concocting new code words and phrases to get around being seen as obviously bigoted by those outside their community but tend to be used more often within their community. Barrett put this one on national TV and therefore, MW needed to act on it.

Very creative box stuffing magi. Bones and scrambled clock works.
Report all injuries sounds like an industrial accident scenario dictated

Still harvesting the summer garden as the fall crops start coming in now as well. This AM, mustard greens, lettuce, peppers, beans, and green tomatoes. Might get a frost Sat AM, but probably won't reach the garden. The frost start at the foot of the ridge and progressively moves up to the mountain side where we are. Air drainage keeps it blown away until it is finally so cold, frost is everywhere.

When the Frost is on the Punkin
By James Whitcomb Riley

When the frost is on the punkin and the fodder’s in the shock,
And you hear the kyouck and gobble of the struttin’ turkey-cock,
And the clackin’ of the guineys, and the cluckin’ of the hens,
And the rooster’s hallylooyer as he tiptoes on the fence;
O, it’s then’s the times a feller is a-feelin’ at his best,
With the risin’ sun to greet him from a night of peaceful rest,
As he leaves the house, bareheaded, and goes out to feed the stock,
When the frost is on the punkin and the fodder’s in the shock.

They’s something kindo’ harty-like about the atmusfere
When the heat of summer’s over and the coolin’ fall is here—
Of course we miss the flowers, and the blossums on the trees,
And the mumble of the hummin’-birds and buzzin’ of the bees;
But the air’s so appetizin’; and the landscape through the haze
Of a crisp and sunny morning of the airly autumn days
Is a pictur’ that no painter has the colorin’ to mock—
When the frost is on the punkin and the fodder’s in the shock.

The husky, rusty russel of the tossels of the corn,
And the raspin’ of the tangled leaves, as golden as the morn;
The stubble in the furries—kindo’ lonesome-like, but still
A-preachin’ sermuns to us of the barns they growed to fill;
The strawstack in the medder, and the reaper in the shed;
The hosses in theyr stalls below—the clover over-head!—
O, it sets my hart a-clickin’ like the tickin’ of a clock,
When the frost is on the punkin and the fodder’s in the shock!

Then your apples all is gethered, and the ones a feller keeps
Is poured around the celler-floor in red and yeller heaps;
And your cider-makin’ ’s over, and your wimmern-folks is through
With their mince and apple-butter, and theyr souse and saussage, too! ...
I don’t know how to tell it—but ef sich a thing could be
As the Angels wantin’ boardin’, and they’d call around on me—
I’d want to ’commodate ’em—all the whole-indurin’ flock—
When the frost is on the punkin and the fodder’s in the shock!

Love your idea of art with found objects. Sounds like fun. As to "report all injuries", I believe that report would be lengthy.

Well, keep a good thought. Enjoy the ride. All the best!

is a common phrase around here.
When will the comfortable classes become alarmed? They seem to be intentionally ignorant. I wish they would read C99 or choose from a myriad of other sources of information, or they could just look around a little. Their indifferent and oblivious behavior is on par with the damage that is done by TPTB with their blatantly evil behavior. I can't fathom either.

The artist Ken Avidor lays it out.
[video:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DZ8PmcxWyaQ&list=PLig7nEImdC8IO5ZyF85_of...
I won't link to the last episode in his series, but of course it's the kicker.

I've been listening to Doug Tallamy who is advocating rebuilding the earth's diversity of species by planting the native plants that will help restore the food web. He mentiones that 78% of the entire U.S. is privately owned and 86% of land east of the Mississippi is privately owned. This means that the only hope to restore the earth's carrying capacity is to plant native species that support native life in our yards. I just wonder how many people will actually have yards after TPTB get through evicting everyone. I would also like to know if under the best of circumstances, we even have enough time for this.

That said, until I can't, I will plant a plant or two. Tallamy is a good teacher, in this video he focuses (a bit) on CA. I like his notion of keystone plants. He mentions a nice tool that CA has to help determine which plants would be keystone plants for all the different biomes that you have in your state. It uses GPS coordinates. www.calscape.org

His video, which is long (about 1 hr. 45 min.) is good.

@randtntx Thanks for the Mazz Alone. Just how I feel. Rude awakening. Titanic. Planting lots of stuff in my bioswale and the dispersion chamber is coming along. Want closure but it is what it is. Great to see my little plants take off. Krupia. Small little ground cover with cute white flowers and roots that go 12 feet deep. What a trip. Drought tolerant.

Will keep the slanted edges of the swale from eroding. Looking forward to listing to Tallamy. Peace.

Whoa! Twelve feet?!! With practically nothing on top? Absolutely amazing! And I'd never even heard of it until now.

"Drought proof," I guess so! Where I live, those little guys would be into the water table!

like Jack's beanstalk, only in the opposite direction!

The name was similar to the grass that commonly grows here, (Kikuyu), and sure enough they seem related. Digging deeper seems to be a good direction/solution in these superficial and dry times.

What I didn’t know was that it is sterile so the seeds don’t propagate.

of Kurapia (Lippia nodiflora), a new low-water groundcover developed in Japan. It was developed for drought conditions and is tolerant of different soils and a range of temperatures. It grows quickly to establish ground cover but is sterile, so unwanted seeding does not occur.

Thanks for the link janis.

It’s growing. I go out and brush the fallen leave off every day from the big black acacia next door. It will love the water the swale catches. Though we are back in a drought pattern again with the return of the Pacific blob. 2030 or bust though the Arctic News people think it’s more like 2024. Someone here has a byline - we are so fucked. Doing what I can, as we all are. You can run but you can’t hide, comes to mind. What a dichotomy - loving every day and all of nature whilst I watch it expire. Thanks for being here.

The Czech Republic acted early and seemingly competently in suppressing the coronavirus last winter. Then? It began to explode in August.

For comparison with another small country that was hit a few weeks earlier than CR, as of July 1 Switzerland was reporting 15 serious/critical cases and zero deaths. For the whole month of July deaths totaled 16. For August deaths totaled 25 and as of 8/31 serious/critical were 22. September 68 deaths and 9/30 serious/critical 29. As of 10/14, October deaths were 35 and serious/critical was 41. A similar pattern is being reported in several other European countries.

About those numbers in the Dakotas - I'm just happy to see karma catch up with them and all the other red denial states. The universe is in charge and will have her way. Society is transforming - WE ARE ALL TRANSFORMING - but some have to be taken kicking and screaming while the others just check out of the system.

I'm transforming in ways I never thought I'd see. Such an interesting time for me to be alive - I hope for all of you, too.

Enjoy the day! Pleasantry

landscaping.

Love the gears and such in your first aid box, "hello, 911, I have an injured Roomba". Aibo? Terminator? Was also wondering if perhaps the jawbone in the first pic was perhaps from an ass? Given the US today, I don't know if it should contain bearer bonds or wildflowr seed packets. You really need to made a rotational piece out of it, changing the contents weekly or so, but it needs to be displayed in public for sure.

911 - I have many injuries to report. Where to start?

Bones. Not sure. Picked up a bunch in the back woods of where ever all my life. Use them in my work. Not sure where that jaw bone came from. I did my thesis on the relationship of landscape forms to the forms of bones. One of the profs on my committee, Jewelry prof, gave me a box of bones he had collected over the years. Pretty sweet. Really touched me. Was the funnest ot I have done so far. The box could surely could be changed out. Easily. Thinking of something a bit more complicated than dumping a bunch of bones in a box. But it worked. Take good care. Now I am thinking that it could be interactive. No? Heh.
