Whatever one’s politics, it’s pure George Orwell / 1984 for Merriam-Webster to be changing word definitions in the dictionary at the drop of the hat, with the sole aim of helping or hindering the day-to-day efforts of political campaigns and candidates.

Like many older German books, this one was apparently printed in a Fraktur typeface, which Google’s optical scanning process failed to take into account, yielding only gibberish, except for certain passages in Latin where, as was the custom among German printers, the font switched to Antiqua (what we nowadays would see as a normal Roman-style font) for the Latin words.

Still harvesting the summer garden as the fall crops start coming in now as well. This AM, mustard greens, lettuce, peppers, beans, and green tomatoes. Might get a frost Sat AM, but probably won't reach the garden. The frost start at the foot of the ridge and progressively moves up to the mountain side where we are. Air drainage keeps it blown away until it is finally so cold, frost is everywhere.

Great to see my little plants take off. Krupia. Small little ground cover with cute white flowers and roots that go 12 feet deep. What a trip. Drought tolerant.

When will the comfortable classes become alarmed? They seem to be intentionally ignorant. I wish they would read C99 or choose from a myriad of other sources of information, or they could just look around a little. Their indifferent and oblivious behavior is on par with the damage that is done by TPTB with their blatantly evil behavior. I can't fathom either.

I won't link to the last episode in his series, but of course it's the kicker.

I've been listening to Doug Tallamy who is advocating rebuilding the earth's diversity of species by planting the native plants that will help restore the food web. He mentiones that 78% of the entire U.S. is privately owned and 86% of land east of the Mississippi is privately owned. This means that the only hope to restore the earth's carrying capacity is to plant native species that support native life in our yards. I just wonder how many people will actually have yards after TPTB get through evicting everyone. I would also like to know if under the best of circumstances, we even have enough time for this.

That said, until I can't, I will plant a plant or two. Tallamy is a good teacher, in this video he focuses (a bit) on CA. I like his notion of keystone plants. He mentions a nice tool that CA has to help determine which plants would be keystone plants for all the different biomes that you have in your state. It uses GPS coordinates. www.calscape.org

911 - I have many injuries to report. Where to start?

Bones. Not sure. Picked up a bunch in the back woods of where ever all my life. Use them in my work. Not sure where that jaw bone came from. I did my thesis on the relationship of landscape forms to the forms of bones. One of the profs on my committee, Jewelry prof, gave me a box of bones he had collected over the years. Pretty sweet. Really touched me. Was the funnest ot I have done so far. The box could surely could be changed out. Easily. Thinking of something a bit more complicated than dumping a bunch of bones in a box. But it worked. Take good care. Now I am thinking that it could be interactive. No? Heh.

Love the gears and such in your first aid box, "hello, 911, I have an injured Roomba". Aibo? Terminator? Was also wondering if perhaps the jawbone in the first pic was perhaps from an ass? Given the US today, I don't know if it should contain bearer bonds or wildflowr seed packets. You really need to made a rotational piece out of it, changing the contents weekly or so, but it needs to be displayed in public for sure.
