A Thousand Words

Welcome back to "A Thousand Words," my new OT in which I post a picture of something I'd like to see more of in the world, because, well, you know what a picture's worth.
I would like this to be a world in which children could paint and make other kinds of art as much as they want to.
As always, share your pictures! What would you like to see in the world?

A fun art project
We've done lots of art with kids, but I don't have the photos digitized.
Here's a fun concrete art project we did in 2011.
Laying out forms
Then pour different cells in different colors and add mosaic pieces
We also used bricks a friend gave me
It is a river themed project...
It was full day's effort, but fun and has been enjoyed now for years...
Our more typical art projects are paper mache.
Happy art everyone!

This is *awesome*!
Did you do this in your professional capacity, or outside of school?

it was a one off...
with help from a friend who has done several similar projects.
Making paper and paper mache used to be pretty common with us, and we want to get back to doing more.

Love your free form walk way
very creative! Unfortunately in this era of teach to tests, the creative subjects like art, music, dance and physical expression are being dropped in primary education. They are being replaced by computer coding in levels down to kindergarten (sponsored by Microsoft and Apple).
Fortunately, some in our local communities are supporting after-school workshops where local artisans, craftsmen and entrepreneurs bring in projects for the kids (outside the school). The local library is also stepping up with similar programs (private non-profit).
I strongly believe these types of creative educational activities are essential to the development of young minds. Sandbox and recess were two of my favorite subjects
Thanks for the OT can't stop!
Good morrow, everybody!

Great thread. Thx.
My good friend and drawing partner of many years is also a Montessori art teacher and she shared her projects with me and my daughter and grandson. We did one every week and have continued on our own. I sent a package of broken up car reflectors and junk from my studio for him to work with. I am awesome now. Who knew junk could be so great. One project was to make sculptures with folded paper. This is what they did.
Have a good one. Take good care!

Good afternoon CSMS. Got up and out early, running errands, so
as to stop on the way back at a local Regional Park "Wilderness Area" off to the NE of us to look at birds, hike around and have a picnic. I went birding once there decades ago, but other than that we've never explored the place at all.
Funny - it isn't old growth, but still has a ton of well aged trees, and isn't a forest, more of an Oak - scrub savannah type of zone, but a lot of big, old, coastal live oaks, Madrones, and California Bay-Laurel, in copses and groves. Immediately made me think of your thousand words column yesterday. Turkeys running around too, sure sign of fall.
be well and have a good one.
