A long time ago in the mid 1970's I got schooled in Manhattan NY.
I stopped with the front end of my car a couple of feet into an eight foot wide crosswalk.
When the walk signal turned green at least 200 people banged on the hood of my car while passing it.
Also got plenty of verbal abuse to go along with the car pounding.
Lesson learned!
