Changes

Oh, yeah. Covid. And job loss, or cut back hours. Oh yeah, foreclosures.
Evictions.
Think quickly on your feet, depend on love and generosity from family and friends.
Ask for help. Ask for advice. You cannot solve any problem you cannot fully grasp.

...and lawyer fees can be and are bartered here as well. The trade day mentality is still alive in hillbilly land.

May become more common? May be it should become more common everywhere.

@Lookout 2 dozen yard eggs for a notice of appeal for a murder conviction with life sentence.
Not a stranger to taking $224.13 in coins and ones brought in by a preacher, donations from the congregation, to represent a congregant in a felony assault on a peace officer.
I got the peace officer to recommend to the state to just drop that case. One of possibly 5 cops I have known that was honest.

@Lookout ...and bitcoin may play a role in larger scale transactions. We're headed to a different world like it or not.

"live long and prosper" – "dif-tor heh smusma" in the Vulcan language (as spoken in Star Trek: The Motion Picture) – also appeared for the first time in "Amok Time", scripted by Theodore Sturgeon. The less-well-known reply is "peace and long life", though it is sometimes said first, with "live long and prosper" as the reply. The phrase has been seen abbreviated "LLAP"

Pretty good advice here:

Be prepared. Be bold. Be imaginative.
Toss in empathy for your fellow man and you have a pretty good system for getting through this life

I like "be well and prosper". I think it isn't about length but quality.

That, in its essence, is fascism--ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or by any other controlling private power. -- Franklin D. Roosevelt --

@enhydra lutris When I have a problem, I start calling people. Sooner or later, someone will come up with some good advice.
I know about 9 or 10 years ago, I went to China, got a dose of Parvo b-19. 3 doctors misdiagnosed it as rheumatoid arthritis. I told a friend about my physical ailments, and she had a friend who had traveled to Europe, returned with the exact same thing. I was put into contact with him, had the lab tests ordered, got the correct diagnosis, and was immediately taken off steroids, likely the deadliest medicine out there for people with Parvo b-19.

any problem with the same thinking that created the problem.

Someone famous (no, he was never on The Apprentice) said that, paraphrased. OK. Bueler. Give me some current examples from current events of how our country and its people don't seem to understand this simple idea.
