So, about OPOL's banishment - a solidarity plan
Okay, so it's a "time out" more than a full on banishment. The Kos version of a cult "shunning" to make a point. OPOL represents too many page views to Kos for him to risk losing him, he's just trying to make a point and get him, and anyone else thinking of defecting from the party line, to get in line and shut up. Like a company town boss suppressing a workers revolt.
This might be unworkable, but I wish it were possible to connect with OPOL's 1,700 followers and anyone else supporting Bernie and/or free and open dialog still posting at the GOS and get everyone to boycott posting for the duration of OPOL's time out. I know it can be tough for some (self included) to not go there and try to lend support for the few remaining, but it would be a thing of beauty if we could in mass stop posting for the week (two?) that OPOL is on time out.
Maybe a few of us could post "Why I Won't Post During OPOLs Time Out" diaries, with nothing more than a request for recs alone and no comments from anyone supporting and joining the writers boycott, and a maybe a request to repeat of the headline in a diary of their own to keep it going? Then follow it up by not taking the bait in the comments, or commenting in any other diary for the duration. If we see supporters posting send a private message asking them to support the boycott for the duration of OPOLs time out?

since I last posted a comment, rec'd a diary or tipped a comment. I saw the handwriting on the wall before Kos made it official. After 12 years there, I admit, it hasn't been easy! I knew I was headed towards a banning. I just couldn't make myself be nice to the new

They've banned a couple and the next day they're posting right where they left off before they were banned.And if you think the webstats are declining now, wait and see what happens when the primary is over and all the paid shills for Hillary quit posting. If Sanders wins the nomination
either through the delegate process or the possibility that Clinton runs into serious trouble with the FBI investigations forcing the superdelegates to back him (I'm not picky), I'll be going back to rally the troops and help the Clinton supporters see what the Sanders supporters saw all along -- the chance to bring the country back to core Democratic principles as seen under FDR. Not sure we can count on Kos to do that.

days before he posted. But we can see why. He forgot the Internet rule, don't try to snow people, everybody can see everything and the Internet never forgets.
I read somewhere in the comments - I think it was over there, even - that the people who have come to the site just to gin up support for Hill will be gone once the primary, or at most the election, is over. That's so true, they've come for Hill, not for Kos. That graph will take a steep nosedive after the convention and probably again after the election.
I kind of hope Hill's paying him. He's not going to have much left if this was just the worst business decision of all time.

Caucus99percent.com does not have the script in the site coding that does the tracking cookie to show the results.
They have a clean site so they may not welcome the intrusion of information gathering that this would present to the users of the site. If you look as the results for GOS and scroll down you'll note the information gathered on site users from the tracking. It includes demographics, shopping, media, political affiliation, etc...
Really it is more useful to a site owner to sell advertising, and pat themselves on the back for their internet success, or in the case of the GOS we can see "the big fail" with next day results...
You can opt out of this tracking with browser settings, and cookie blockers, but really the tracking is everywhere you go on the net. I have Quantcast on my own sites purely to aid with gaining advertising. When I go to a new advertiser and they have requirements on the number of visitors I just give them my Quantcast Link and usually am approved right away.
If they do want Quantcast tracking data it is free all they have to do is sign up...

I'm already significantly tapering off my participation, mostly because I get the greatest itchy urge to declare/comment that I don't consider Bill and HRC to be real Dems, at least not the Dem party I knew as a young'un and I identify with as an FDR Dem. You know, in the old days, when the Dems stood with unions and the people and didn't decimate welfare or support privatised prisons, sign away Glass-Steagall, and didn't holiday with fucking war criminals. They, both of them, are just classier grifters than Huckabee and Sista Sarah.
The Clinton Foundation is going to be seriously investigated someday, and its pay-to-play operations are going to be revealed, sooner rather than later, I hope. But this time, I won't feel any obligation to stand up for them as I did in the 90s. HRC has completely and irretrievably lost me by the choices she's made, by the $$$ she's accepted, and by the way she engages in gratuitous lying, especially this campaign season. And I would love to see a woman president, but it's not HRC.
There are other options
we don't have to all disband because we've been displaced. Kos is right about one thing, it is a big internet, and there are many platforms to choose from, free ones at that. We can work it out, come what may.

I really have no idea whether your suggestions are crazy or sane in the bigger picture. I also hope that OPOL manages to continue writing without censorship, because he speaks to and for so many.
I’ve written very few diaries with very few words, but have spent enough time on DKos to surmise that it has been becoming less and less relevant over time, but I still very much appreciate the writers and subjects that I find there that compliment my interests. I think it’s in the best interests of all here and there, for OPOL to maintain a voice there, even if it is in Kos’ interest. So maybe your idea is really a good one.

I do appreciate your wanting to support me, but it's not necessary. I certainly wouldn't want anyone to bring trouble on themselves over this pettiness. I have tried to maintain my voice there, thinking it could serve Bernie and all those causes so dear to most of us. Lately especially, I've done a fair bit of tightrope walking, and the diary that so offended today, I went through and deleted several of the most potentially offensive graphics before posting - trying to toe an ambiguous and imaginary line, so as to preserve the bullhorn I've acquired over there over the past 10 years - all so I could use it to support Bernie if he wins the nomination. My plan had been to hold off on a GBCW diary until Bernie lost. And if he lost I'd be outta the GOS and outta the Democratic Party for ever and ever amen. It may come to a head sooner rather than later. But no worries. Nothing to be done about kos. We'll find better ways.

Sorry. Mentioned that in a few other comments. It was in OPOLs diary that I got the warning and timeout, not the diary I declared in. I noticed I was one of the few that flagged the flagger that got a time out. Saw some warnings to remove or get a time out but not me.
But I had posted this comment a few hours before.
I'd been having some problems with my handle there so maybe I was a bit more obvious of a mark, I don't know. I caught shit on Easter for posting some classical music that had the word christian in it. Got a warning to not try to take digs at christians. I got pretty fucking pissed and let the group admin have it. Here's the thread if you wanna read it:

I know Kos is religious and there's no doubt the TO came from him. It seems far fetched it would make a difference but in the heat of the moment I sometimes wonder. That doubt made me choose a different name here. I'm tired of being fucked over 'cause I'm an out atheist and an antitheist.

I can understand why you still were writing
over yonder -- sometimes you just have to keep talking in the hopes that someone will take their fingers out of their ears to really listen. It's the reason why Bernie Sanders spoke at Liberty University when many of us thought he was crazy for going there, or why he goes on all the Sunday shows when the network news department ignores his campaign the other 6 days of the week.

For now, that is the only reason to participate on Daily Kos. So long as Bernie is in it - and it's not entirely impossible that he actually becomes the nominee and wins in November - your contributions serve that purpose. What the future holds for any of us, only time will tell.
Let me also say that I am also sympathetic to comments made above by shaharazade, even as c99% has increased almost ten fold in the past month or so. The ones who started this website, joined early on, participated actively, and kept it going need to be listened to.
