Much earlier I even donated a small amount to her campaign...but kept my ear to the ground. I was listening to Jimmy Dore and that crew praising her to the highest levels...and since I like Jimmy and his crew, I paid attention to his advice instead of listening to my radar. But yeah, I was not really surprised, but I was really disappointed.

A vote for Bernie in the remaining primaries isn't wasted. Being adults and absent a black swan, we know Bernie won't win the nomination. What his voters and supporters expect (and have paid for) is for him to carry on through the formal nomination of the DP candidate. After that, we know he will endorse the nominee because that was a precondition for him being allowed to run at all. Still better that he tried and failed instead of not running at all.
It's at that point, when Bernie ceases to be relevant, and when collectively Bernie's supporters (Bernie will be irrelevant) will have maximum power. The open question is how to use it.

up to date on Tulsi and Modi, but I wonder if much of that "support" by her is a bit overblown, something like the way her critics greatly misread and misinterpret her meeting with Assad.
If she had appeared with Modi on stage when he visited the US and TX recently for that big rally in Houston, that would have been a major problem for me. Probably the end of our passionate relationship. But it never came to that, happily.
Beyond that, I suspect Tulsi has made public statements in favor of non-discriminatory treatment of all people in India, and elsewhere. Generally as I understand her public stances, she has been consistent, at least in recent years, in respecting all types of human differences. A truly good person, iow, who has evolved like many of us and sees things differently now including taking some fierce independent stances. I understand her -- I too am usually not seen marching in lockstep.

I told Bernie that the NUMBER 1 thing he can do in terms of his excellent plan outline is stay in the race in order to keep the party and the media focused on him. I told them that I did not trust Trump (although the latest version of socialist Trump is interesting), The Democratic Party (because of their paltry proposals in the House to remedy our situation and their blatant disregard for public safety with those primaries the other day) and most of all Joe Biden because of his constant lying.

It was very clear when he said that he believed that Biden could beat Trump and the fact he refused to attack Biden in the last debate.
When Bernie endorses Biden, then what? Will people here attack him as hard as they have Tulsi? The Democratic party operates like the Mafia. It is nearly impossible to go against the DNC. Tulsi found that out after 2016 when two highly placed donors sent her a letter which basically threatened her with political extinction.
Further Tulsi first volunteered to endorse Bernie but the Sanders campaign turned her down. It was after being turned down by Bernie that Tulsi endorsed Biden. This news of this has just come out today. While I still do not support her endorsement of Biden, it might explain why she heaped praise on Biden while doing it. Tulsi's older brother Jai posted his frustration with the Sanders campaign on Facebook.

perspective, Tulsi dropping out and endorsing him is a benefit, even if not a major one as it comes from a 2% candidate. And it's much more of a benefit now, as he would seek to try to unify the party, clear the decks and concentrate on the fall election, than an endorsement at the convention.
On a personal and practical basis, Tulsi may have strongly factored in the C19 crisis and how it rendered moot any further campaigning, even the strictly online type. Voters are tuned out, have put Biden down in ink as the nominee, and are focusing their attention on coping with the C19 shakeup of their world, including financial.
Further, as a current member of the NG, she may well anticipate very soon being called up to serve, and for more than just two weeks.
In any case, the primary season is over -- we are only waiting for better party leadership to call for postponing the remaining primary contests to late May/June, and the public has moved off of politics as more existential threats emerge. Under these crisis circumstances, she has only moved up her timetable of endorsement, and used it to optimal effect.
Leverage is staying in and making the bastards be seen to rig every fucking state in the Union.
Leverage is plowing through to the convention with as many delegates as you can and forcing a floor fight.
Leverage is being willing to walk out with those delegates and start a nationwide third party.
Now do I think Bernie will do any of that? No.
But THAT's how you get leverage. Not by bending the knee when we're not even halfway through the primaries.

and there's a time to realize the fight is over. Neither Tulsi nor Bernie was ever going to use any delegate leverage to threaten a walkout or leave to form a 3d party. Sounds revolutionary and principled in online discussions, but it won't be happening out there in RL.

But the point is to make them steal it. And to be seen to do so.
If the Dems can't run a honest game, they need to be called out. Capitulating, especially now, simply rewards their criminal behavior and harms the movement in the process.

… where the candidates were asked a "gotcha" horse race question, i.e., if one candidate has a plurality but not a majority of delegates, should that person automatically become the nominee? Well, at the time Bernie was ahead, so everyone said no, except for Bernie, who said yes. Now that the shoe is on the other foot, if Bernie stays in, TPTB are going to bring up the sound bite from the debate to make Bernie look like a liar and hypocrite. So, honestly, I expect Bernie to bow out before the convention, possibly within the next week, citing Biden's massive lead, the coronavirus pandemic, and the desire to unify the party to defeat Trump.
And, frankly, at this point, given all that's happened in just the past four days, I've changed my view on the relative electability of Biden or Bernie vs Trump. This upcoming election is going to be a referendum on Trump's handling of the coronavirus pandemic, and the resulting economic fallout. In that case, the name at the top of Dem ticket isn't really going to matter very much.

Much earlier I even donated a small amount to her campaign...but kept my ear to the ground. But leftists -- young and old -- would be better served by taking some deep breaths and holding our fire (other than to say that "Tulsi is dead to me") to regroup. The "I will never vote again" just plays into "their hand" and has no real world impact.
A vote for Bernie in the remaining primaries isn't wasted. Being adults and absent a black swan, we know Bernie won't win the nomination. What his voters and supporters expect (and have paid for) is for him to carry on through the formal nomination of the DP candidate. After that, we know he will endorse the nominee because that was a precondition for him being allowed to run at all. Still better that he tried and failed instead of not running at all.
It's at that point, when Bernie ceases to be relevant, and when collectively Bernie's supporters (Bernie will be irrelevant) will have maximum power. The open question is how to use it.

I'm not completely
up to date on Tulsi and Modi, but I wonder if much of that "support" by her is a bit overblown, something like the way her critics greatly misread and misinterpret her meeting with Assad.
If she had appeared with Modi on stage when he visited the US and TX recently for that big rally in Houston, that would have been a major problem for me. Probably the end of our passionate relationship. But it never came to that, happily.
Beyond that, I suspect Tulsi has made public statements in favor of non-discriminatory treatment of all people in India, and elsewhere. Generally as I understand her public stances, she has been consistent, at least in recent years, in respecting all types of human differences. A truly good person, iow, who has evolved like many of us and sees things differently now including taking some fierce independent stances. I understand her -- I too am usually not seen marching in lockstep.

It was very clear when he said that he believed that Biden could beat Trump and the fact he refused to attack Biden in the last debate.
When Bernie endorses Biden, then what? Will people here attack him as hard as they have Tulsi? The Democratic party operates like the Mafia. It is nearly impossible to go against the DNC. Tulsi found that out after 2016 when two highly placed donors sent her a letter which basically threatened her with political extinction.
Further Tulsi first volunteered to endorse Bernie but the Sanders campaign turned her down. It was after being turned down by Bernie that Tulsi endorsed Biden. This news of this has just come out today. While I still do not support her endorsement of Biden, it might explain why she heaped praise on Biden while doing it. Tulsi's older brother Jai posted his frustration with the Sanders campaign on Facebook.

What matters to Tulsi is that after her rebellion against Hillary in 2016, a truce has now been declared, Tulsi's done her penance by endorsing Biden, and has now been welcomed back into the Dem Establishment fold.
At the end of the day, Major Tulsi is still an institutionalist at heart. Unlike Bernie, she's not built for life outside the embrace of the system.

she's made of sterner stuff. I don't see this one as weakness or capitulation, but a) seeing the reality of the C19 situation and b) fulfilling her pledge to support the D nominee. technically that only occurs at the convention, but the race is effectively over now, has been for days. And there will be no more meaningful campaigning for a good while.
Meanwhile, why not use this time of maximum leverage, however small it is, to perhaps get something worthwhile on the other side, or be in a better position to do so. Waiting until July, for Bernie or Tulsi, is not very smart.

Looked at from Biden's
perspective, Tulsi dropping out and endorsing him is a benefit, even if not a major one as it comes from a 2% candidate. And it's much more of a benefit now, as he would seek to try to unify the party, clear the decks and concentrate on the fall election, than an endorsement at the convention.
On a personal and practical basis, Tulsi may have strongly factored in the C19 crisis and how it rendered moot any further campaigning, even the strictly online type. Voters are tuned out, have put Biden down in ink as the nominee, and are focusing their attention on coping with the C19 shakeup of their world, including financial.
Further, as a current member of the NG, she may well anticipate very soon being called up to serve, and for more than just two weeks.
In any case, the primary season is over -- we are only waiting for better party leadership to call for postponing the remaining primary contests to late May/June, and the public has moved off of politics as more existential threats emerge. Under these crisis circumstances, she has only moved up her timetable of endorsement, and used it to optimal effect.
'Leverage'
There's no leverage in quitting. None whatsoever.
Leverage is staying in and making the bastards be seen to rig every fucking state in the Union.
Leverage is plowing through to the convention with as many delegates as you can and forcing a floor fight.
Leverage is being willing to walk out with those delegates and start a nationwide third party.
Now do I think Bernie will do any of that? No.
But THAT's how you get leverage. Not by bending the knee when we're not even halfway through the primaries.

and there's a time to realize the fight is over. Neither Tulsi nor Bernie was ever going to use any delegate leverage to threaten a walkout or leave to form a 3d party. Sounds revolutionary and principled in online discussions, but it won't be happening out there in RL.
Bernie, who's actually an official member of Dem leadership in the senate, was never the revolutionary some of his campaign slogans would suggest, and he's not likely at all to want to create too many headaches for his "good friend" Joe Biden. And I think it's clear Tulsi still wants a political future playing an important role working within the party system.
Going 3d party is easier said than done, and it usually ends up being easier to lose and become politically irrelevant that way.

the nomination is over, which some here are refusing to acknowledge. Fighting on for Bernie (or Tulsi) at this point would be a meaningless exercise. And a 3d party from the left would only guarantee Trump a 2d term, which effort the GOP will likely be heavily invested in and actively encouraging.
Neither of my preferred candidates won. The establishment wing, using their considerable resources and enlisting the help of a willing MSM, has convinced voters that Biden will do, and then a large bandwagon effect set in. Stating such facts does not imply approval of how this played out.
And I've always been clear I have never been emotionally attached to any one candidate, as many here seem to be. I've criticized both Tulsi and Bernie at various times, as I have never been a cheerleader poster. But they were always in my top 2.
As for the rest, I don't set out to lecture anyone, nor tiptoe around lest I never offend the most sensitive. But I did feel it important to offer another perspective which hadn't been heard much as 99% of the posters took one side.
But I do take small comfort in knowing my minority view (among left online progs) is generally shared by at least one other here, as well as quality analysts like Michael Tracey (on TG) and Krystal Ball (on Bernie). Small company in number, but quality.
The fight is NOT over.

Remember the one debate ...
… where the candidates were asked a "gotcha" horse race question, i.e., if one candidate has a plurality but not a majority of delegates, should that person automatically become the nominee? Well, at the time Bernie was ahead, so everyone said no, except for Bernie, who said yes. Now that the shoe is on the other foot, if Bernie stays in, TPTB are going to bring up the sound bite from the debate to make Bernie look like a liar and hypocrite. So, honestly, I expect Bernie to bow out before the convention, possibly within the next week, citing Biden's massive lead, the coronavirus pandemic, and the desire to unify the party to defeat Trump.
And, frankly, at this point, given all that's happened in just the past four days, I've changed my view on the relative electability of Biden or Bernie vs Trump. This upcoming election is going to be a referendum on Trump's handling of the coronavirus pandemic, and the resulting economic fallout. In that case, the name at the top of Dem ticket isn't really going to matter very much.

I can't see any current or prospective reason for endorsing Biden and she can't be stupid enough to think Biden would actually be a decent President. Can she? She campaigned against regime-change wars and Biden has to be in the top 10 cheerleaders for invading someone, anyone. With McCain gone he may be in the top 5 war cheerleaders. Anyone the felt Sanders
stabbed them in the back in 2016 isn't an adult. He was always honest about that condition for his run as a Democrat. Same holds true this time. If he ran out of campaign funds, suspending his campaign was also acceptable. What's not acceptable is to drop out or suspend and endorse during the primary cycle the candidate that stands for everything his/her supporters rejected. To go into the convention with whatever paltry amount of power that one has earned and be a voice. Bernie did that in '16.

The DNC cheated him out of the nomination and thus breached their contract. He absolutely knew it. He still went along.
