Listen Up Democratic Party Establishment

As a member of the disaffected left, I feel it is my duty to let you know that I will do whatever I can to throw a monkey wrench into the upcoming election by not voting for your chosen candidate. Period. And I will do my utmost to convince others of the same.

We, the disaffected left, have the power to split this Party. I hope you understand that.

I will never vote for a Democratic establishment/centrist ever. I will vote anything but blue if you shove another centrist down our throats.

Who's with me.

@TB mare Biden will not last 8 years. It really looks to me that he has early stage dementia even though the msm try to cover it up. I doubt that he would get through even one term, without having to be removed from office. He will probably lose to Trump, but if he wins, the real question is which neolib will be his VP and whether that person would be able to hoodwink the American people and for how long.

Back to the original question, I will never vote for Biden or any of the Neolib Dems.

I even thought about it. But, although racism is not the only reason to vote for Trump, and I think racism is not the reason many of his supporters did vote for him, it's kind of inarguable that Trump is racist (or plays one on TV, which comes down to the same thing when you're a public authority figure--I don't care if it's all pro wrestling to him). So I just can't. But I understand where you're coming from--I really do.

He fails to acknowledge that the reason we have a representative democracy is because the Framers understood that a pure, non representative democracy would offer the wealthy elite no protection from the “will of the people”.

Our right to vote is only permitted because it is a limited and conditional right, designed to subjugate the populace under a banner of “Freedom!”. Our right to vote is a sop, not a tool for change.

He's right, as far as it goes. I think he's got his finger on why a lot of people voted for Trump. That's all I was saying.

Is anyone going to collect the voices of those who waited five-plus hours at polling places day before yesterday without being allowed to vote? They seem to be the Berniecrats' main lever at present.

My critiques of Bernie have been getting roundly (or squarely) criticized for mockery or derision. It's the truth, though.

Recognize it, Berniecrats, Bernie should have complained the NYC voter purge in 2016. He didn't. It cost him big--the whole state.

The Texas and likely other state polling places were strategically moved by the DNC precisely to harm Bernie. Bernie did not protest. He did not raise HIS voice.

Tulsi fights back. She would have--and DID--call out the bastards for their dirty trickery. This included lambasting H. Rodent Clinton for Russiagating (and is suing her rotten Rodent ass for this too).

Bernie don't fight back. Politics is not abstract. All we've been getting from the DNC is emotionality and identarianism. No substance. No cohesive plan by all candidates, except Bernie, about M4A. Where's the "principle"? Dems have only one, one which is unspoken: retain power at all costs--even if it means Trump gets re-elected.

@Alligator Ed it would have to be "why won't you call the Democrats out when they do the same things as Republicans?" This strikes me as Sander's fatal flaw. It cost him 2016 and will probably cost him 2020, not to mention it helps keep the movement under the establishment Dem's boot.

The corporate media keeps pounding away on Bernie 24/7 for everything he's ever said even when it's the exact same stuff Obama said re. the amazing success of literacy efforts in Cuba and many other subjects as well.

Right now the media, and I'm not just talking about the news but also shows like The View and comedy shows keep relentlessly sticking it to Bernie for being the least bit critical of the Democratic Party, pushing the trope that he's helping Trump get re-elected.

It's an incredible state of affairs.

He's pounding away on Biden's propensity to support cutting social security and other social welfare programming, his coziness with Wall Street, his Iraq vote, his support of NAFTA, the concentration of wealth, etc. And there's roundabout talk of Biden's diminishing mental capabilities.

There's only so many directions to focus.

And only so much money for media commercials.

And I really think there's a big disconnect here among a lot of folks that Bernie can somehow transcend beyond Democratic voters to win the nomination -- but most Democratic Party voters have bitten hook, line and sinker into the Russia nonsense, that all that's needed to win in November is to say nasty stuff about Trump, etc.

@Raggedy Ann @Raggedy Ann I read something recently that brought back a thought I had in 2016. A couple of people who worked on Bernie's campaign in 2016 (anonymous reports, so take with as much sodium as you need) said that Bernie had been really running as an issues candidate with no expectation, or even desire, to win. The assumption was that HER would be the nominee and Bernie wanted to be advocating for his positions to be included in her platform. Except that he took off, surprising everyone and catching him flatfooted. So ultimately, they didn't want to risk hurting HER and run a campaign that would actually win.

At the time, just based on what was happening (that he always pulled punches, couldn't really criticize HER, swore to support the nominee long before the first vote and then campaigned for HER more than she did, etc.) this really seemed to be true to me. And though he definitely seems more seriously running this time, it still feels like he's accepted he's not going to be the nominee and just hopes for a seat at the table, as they say. I'd love to be proved wrong, but it seems like it's a bit late to try to reverse course now.

They were always going to stop Bernie. We are witnessing the power of these asshats.

that Sanders has not accepted he's not going to be the nominee. He's working his tail off, harder than all the other candidates, and he gets huge crowds that he clearly recognizes are for real. After nearly a half century of being in politics, he surely knows how dirty the party will play.

I'm more hopeful than I was Tuesday night because I realize now Biden has to show up. He has to campaign. They may try to run him in commercials only, but sooner or later he has to speak to people, and like HRC, he has nothing to say except that he isn't Trump.

With a 21 year old Bernie supporter who I work with and who i have done a lot of canvassing with here in California. She was so upset about Super Tuesday she cried. Her brother who is about 10 years older than her, is a diabetic who lost his job, has no insurance, and is struggling to pay for his insulin. M4A is not just an ideological issue for her. It's life and death for her family.

I have no crystal ball either, but I felt that helping her get back her voice as a powerful advocate for M4A was more helpful for her state of mind than the fear and despair that is creeping up behind her, while also gently reminding her that demoralizing the young who are engaged in the electoral process is a win/win for the people who are fighting against us.

Received a very sweet text from her this morning telling me she felt so much better phone banking for Bernie this morning.

in D.C. There was a *large* climate march there, and we did some lobbying after. Nancy Pelosi told our people that climate was "a dead issue." What I heard was "We don't care if you die." Since then, I've heard that message repeated many times, in response to many different policy questions. Foreign policy? "We don't care if you die." Medical policy? "We don't care if you die." Social Security? "We don't care if you die." Even the response to the coronavirus is remarkable. Pelosi's statement on it? "When there's a vaccine, we'll need to make it affordable." It took me a minute to realize what was wrong with that, but when I saw it, my mouth literally fell open. These people are less interested in preserving our civilization and people than the Chinese are interested in preserving theirs--those authoritarian tyrants. And yes, they are, in many ways, authoritarian tyrannical shitheads to their own people and imperialists to those smaller countries around them. But the Chinese leaders want there to be a China with Chinese people in it, preferably on a continent called Asia that isn't a fucking wasteland littered with bones.

The super Tuesday election is full of conservative voters and without newly-added California it would have been a rout against Sanders. As it stands they're pretty much tied and the remaining states will not tilt as conservative. Plus Biden is going to step in it pretty soon and then "electability" will come back to bite him in the butt. The clearing of the field also reduced the chance that we'll end up with a brokered convention.

I also quit voting for my US Congress member, Rick Larsen, about four elections ago while writing in a name of a friend that was running against him, then when he no longer ran against Larsen I wrote it in anyway. However sometimes the online petitions I sign include Rick Larsen among the recipients but any response I get from him I mark as spam.

I was among the people confronting him at a townhall meeting over his support of the TPP even though the reason he gave for not being able to answer our questions regarding it was that he "hadn't read it yet" so he really couldn't discuss it. Oh, and he wouldn't be seeing us again until after the elections.
Then as a cherry on top he said as a super delegate he would be voting for Hillary even the State had gone strongly for Bernie Sanders.

When Kshama Sawant came to Bellingham once I really regret not asking her if she knew anyone like her that we could get to Primary his sorry ass.

Bottom line, it's screw the 'blue no matter who' sheep.

bernie represents the biggest compromise that i am willing to make with the corporate democrat party.

if those corporate jackasses cannot meet me part way at a new deal fdr democrat, fuck 'em. no vote for any democrat, since the democrats will have made it official that they are institutionally incapable of representing my interests.

...with non-progressive Democrats running for reelection, we are going to need to play hardball with our votes if we are going to defeat them all and chase the Centrists out of the Democratic Party.

But the Democrats must be warned now! It is imperative that they know what's coming and understand why they are going to lose any time they try to run as a Democrat.

Let them start a Third Party.

The current working assumption appears to be that our Shroedinger's Cat system is still alive. But what if we all suspect it's not, and the real problem is we just can't bring ourselves to open the box?

@QMS

Looking back on her work with Kelly and Astaire during a 2002 interview in The New York Times, Ms. Charisse said that her husband, Mr. Martin, always knew whom she had been dancing with. “If I was black and blue,” she said, “it was Gene. And if it was Fred, I didn’t have a scratch.”
