Does this make any sense?

So Biden is surging in the polls.
Why?

Selection_006_14.png

What has happened to cause this surge?
The man who is running on 'electability' got crushed in Nevada.

Selection_004_21.png

This comes after underperforming the polls in Iowa and N.H.

Selection_003_27.png
Selection_002_29.png

Why would any of this cause a surge in approval?
It makes no sense.

That's why I think Biden will underperform the polls again, and will be lucky if he wins by a slim margin.

And if the pollsters only poll people with land lines, ie, the over 65 group, they get skewed results in favor of Biden. Add into that, the South like Biden and his racist buddies he hangs out with, so he's favored to do well in racist states like SC, Alabama, etc.

Basically, the Confederate States love Racist Joe. So you get a "surge" from the polls.

Fortunately, Sanders has the hispanic vote and is grabbing up the black vote. Though not as much in the Confederate States for reasons I've never understood, (Stockholm Syndrome maybe?) I think it will be enough to mean he cruises to victory.

It's the Great Awakening.

The Monmouth University Poll was sponsored and conducted by the Monmouth University Polling Institute from February 23 to 25, 2020 with a statewide random sample of 713 South Carolina voters drawn from a list of registered voters who participated in a primary or general election in the past two election cycles (excluding those who have consistently voted in Republican primaries), or have registered to vote since November 2018.

Bernie does not do well with Black people over 45. I have no idea why. I guess getting chained to that woman and dragged away means nothing, and being the only white legislator in D.C. to attend John Conyers' basement meetings in 2004 means nothing, and the only thing that means anything is Barack Obama's success and what Democratic leadership tells you.

Authoritarianism and partisanship. If that's where you are, you won't join Bernie.

are just projecting because ratf**king a GOP primary is something they would like the opportunity to do. Trump has been encouraging Republicans to go vote for the weakest Democratic candidate Sanders and this week in SC told them to vote for Sanders. But that requires more effort and time than more than a very few voters are willing to expend.

Biden Hasn't Campaigned In ANY Super Tuesday States

[video:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4mC5_umo4ic]

No visits in over a month. One "six figure" ad buy (against $183 million by Bloomberg). One campaign office in all of California and it's closed.

As someone commented a couple of days ago, Biden's campaign is "running on pride". He's going to win one state (probably, maybe) dammit then suspend his campaign.

Can you really win delegates while running NO campaign? Asking for a friend.

throughout 2019 never made any sense to me. He's the same guy, only twelve years older and with a somewhat higher name recognition, that he was in 2008 when he didn't make it out of IA alive. Obama nostalgia could be increasing and giving him a boost. A possibility in SC is that the state DP has brought out its whips and combined continuous Bloomberg trashing Sanders ads leading undecideds and soft support for other candidates to default to Biden. Testing that hypothesis, take a close look at the two Post and Courier polls 1/26-1/29 and 2/23-2/27, the Biden "surge" is 25% to 28%. Sanders 20% to 24%, Steyer 18% to 16%, Pere 7% to 11%, Warren 11% to 12%, Amy 2% to 4%, and Tulsi 3% to 5%. Recall that Sanders did get 23% in '16.

P&C compared to the other three recent polls: Sanders and Pete are flat. Biden up 6 to 16 points, Steyer down 3 to 5 points, Warren down 5 to 7 points, Amy up 1 to 2 points, and Tulsi down 2 to 3 points. There seemed to be some shifts from Steyer to Biden in NV. (Has Steyer been a stalking horse for Biden all along?) Warren has been taking from '16 Hillary and Sanders in roughly equal amounts in other states, but in SC it appears to have been nearly exclusively from Clinton; so, not odd that retreats would be to Biden. Amy picks up the whiter Clinton chump change.

If the averages are close enough to the actual, it means 1) Sanders ground team isn't much improved from that of '16 and 2) the SC DP remains powerful in turning out wins for Clinton/Obama without its voters reaping anything.

in South Carolina, the applicable authoritarianism is Christian evangelical moralizing. From that perspective, "Stop and Frisk" is a policy they would approve of. "What are those young men doing loitering around on the streets anyway? They're all gangsters and hoodlums anyway!"

Similarly my comment about racism being "institutional" was intended to convey a vague, nonspecific quality, rather than specific instances like Biden's occasional revelatory blurtings. They don't perceive him as the enemy he is, because they don't relate to the urban demographic who are the targets and victims of this racism.

But I'm just talking, I can't prove any of this.

But good luck for any of us wishing to make this argument, if we're white, or anything other than Black.

There are a few illusions we are required to support, or be deemed racist. One of them is that all Black people are united with all other Black people--except for the few who join the Republican party, and we usually don't talk about them (somehow we're supposed to applaud the achievements of people like Colin Powell and Condi Rice while decrying the racist politics and policies of George W. Bush). We certainly can't bring up the divisions between Joy Ann Reid and black teenagers with no money in Ferguson, or black children drinking poisoned water in Flint. And we can't bring up the divisions between conservative Christian Black people in the South and young Black men with no money in NYC.

Good on ya for trying, though. I honestly hadn't thought about that, because I couldn't believe that any Black person would side with a racist tyrannical asshole like Bloomberg.

The ExpressVote is a ballot-marking device (BMD). A BMD is a device that helps voters mark a paper ballot more accurately and efficiently. A voter’s choices are presented on a screen in a similar manner to a voting machine. However, a BMD does not record the voter’s choices into its memory. Instead, it allows the voter to mark the choices on-screen and, when the voter is done, prints the ballot selections. The resulting printed paper ballot is then either hand counted or counted using an optical scanner/tabulator.

The scanner tabulates the votes on your ballot and feeds the ballot into a locked ballot box. The paper ballots are then used to verify and audit election results.

Sounds wicked weird. Wonder if it was test run first?

My son said I misread the website, it didn't actually say that people who would come to the event, would see Bernie in person. I misread or was too quick to read and too enthusiastic about my son having the opportunity to meet Sanders on a live event. My bad.

But it makes me happy that my son actually corrected me. Smile

So, I apologize for me loose lips.

I gave up on her right after Obama became president, but when she started on Russia......I started despising her and I thought I'd topped out. But today she made the meter go off the charts.

Twitter is giving her lots of shit for saying this. And for everything else she's sputtering.

Which AIPAC/MIC/pharma/bank bought politician are you going to vote for? Don’t be surprised when nothing changes.

I'm going to choose a conceivable but long-shot objective and hope that we get there: Biden under 50%, Sanders over 20%.

I can't believe they played that song as Biden came to the stage for his victory speech.

Lots of talk about precincts being shut down and other hijinks so the numbers can't be trusted.

If you have to cheat to win then you will be a laughing stock. I doubt any of the numbers are valid. No way Pettigrew beats Bernie with blacks. This has been his biggest problem during the primary. And yet we're supposed to believe that SC blacks came out in droves to vote for Pete? I'm not buying it. The world is watching how the USA is nowhere close to what it says it is.

Tom Steyer drops out of 2020 race after disappointing South Carolina result

Billionaire environmental activist Tom Steyer has dropped out of the Democratic presidential race following a disappointing result in South Carolina, the early voting state on which his campaign staked its hopes.
...
he may have won just a couple delegates from South Carolina’s congressional districts ... did not win any delegates in the early voting states of Iowa, New Hampshire and Nevada ...

It will be interesting to see if he does get a delegate or two, and how many hundred million dollars each one cost him.

@WoodsDweller This chart is from a week or so before the primary. Steyer got a very poor return on investment as did Tulsi of all people.

So Sanders only spent $101k on advertising. Maybe he didn't expect to do well, and so decided not to spend much? He invested in the ground game, but didn't commit much cash.
Biden only spent $263k. It certainly worked for him, so any more would have been wasted. Of course, he probably didn't have more to spend.
Gabbard spent twice as much as Biden. Didn't work out for her. That's got to hurt, she can't throw money around like that and get no return.
They're going to have to rewrite the textbooks after this race, it doesn't seem like the candidate who spends the most money wins.

stubbornly unreceptive to the vast advertising by Steyer and Bloomberg. It could be that they are unreceptive to any new messages from any source, including Bernie.
