The debates made it clear: Bloomberg joined so the Establishment Dems can look good.

They all got to attack him. He was the easy target. He diverted them from attacking each other - except Bernie. And that's the point isn't it? If not for Bloomberg, they'd have been either attacking Bernie or each other. And they don't want to attack each other at this stage any more than necessary because it will take all four of them - Warren, Biden, Buttigieg and Klobacher - to divide up the vote and allow the DNC to invoke the super delegates to steal the election from Bernie.

Especially with Biden probably falling by the wayside long before the finish line.

But most of all, Bloomberg allows the others to appear less to the right.

A GOP candidate is basically what Bloomberg is. He's not conceivably electable. But by running, he allows the others to appear reasonable. Then everyone forgets the centrists are still corporate owned and not one bit better. At least, that's their hope.

It isn't going to work though. Bernie just keeps skyrocketing. They're going to have to steal it.

“Tactics without strategy is the noise before defeat.” ~ Sun Tzu

I have a very hard time applauding a Democrat saying some bad words to a Bloomberg or Trump because for anyone who claims to be a Democrat, that shouldn’t even be an exceptional thing. “You also noticed the sky is blue! Good for you!” This part is the easy part. Let’s see some actions. Take a stand that risks pissing off the 1%. Then we can hand out the accolades.

I read that this was one of the best watched debates, but it was because everyone wanted to see how Bloomb would get attacked and Warren stepped up and did the deed. On how much money he was spending to buy the election? Nope. On his NDAs, MeToo and identity politics. But Bernie did go after him for buying it.

He was in Utah yesterday and after his jokes fell flat he attacked Bernie for not having a diverse group of supporters and that is why he would lose to Trump. Lie #1. I counted 4 more lies in the 9 minutes I could take listening to him.

His first joke was about Brigham Young seeing the Salt Lake valley and saying "this is the place." Bloomberg said if Young could have foreseen the traffic on I-15 he would have kept going to Sandy which is a city built west of the city. Umm what??? It fell FLAT!! Big time. D'oh. His other jokes didn't do much better.

Which AIPAC/MIC/pharma/bank bought politician are you going to vote for? Don’t be surprised when nothing changes.

I'm particularly concerned about manipulating people's perception of reality. He's got that phony ad that you all probably know about. Showing how he "flummoxed" all the other people on the stage, using short clips of other parts of the debate as if it were all happening in real time. He's got the money to push that "reality" to the point where people who didn't see the debate, who aren't tuned in like we are, will think it happened. They'll think his disastrous showing was really masterful.

Being in the debate no doubt appeared to him as some nice shiny toy he would buy with his billions. His flopping in the debate no doubt appears to him as another problem to be bought off with his money.

As for the rest of them, they're all no doubt counting upon the superdelegates to rescue them, each of them individually. The debate revealed them to be cranky little children with enormous egos. The junior-high-school bickering between Pete Buttigieg and Amy Klobuchar revealed a lot to the mass public. This is in no way to diminish the fact of their conspiracy against Bernie Sanders -- but, rather, a suggestion that said conspiracy is, as one of its weaknesses, infantile.

For the most part I "taught" extemporaneously. By that I mean I didn't prep lectures most of the time. And, when I did prep, the presentation turned out to be stilted and unconvincing. What you may not know is that extemporaneous presentations can (if done well) deliver a large endorphin rush and become somewhat addictive.

I wonder if Bloomberg thought he was up to the task of seeking that sort of a "victory" coupled with a kind of vanity possessed only by the very wealthy of a certain ilk.

I wonder if this simple scenario explains this particularly cringy episode of "Politics Today".
