#Sanders

Open Thread - Thurs 7 Aug 2025 - Recent Gallup Poll

Recent Gallup Poll
So recent poll numbers are interesting. The Trumpster's favorable rating has declined. His net favorable rating is around negative 16 points, which is lower than former President Biden's is. Biden's net favorable rating is negative 11 points. The new pope, the American one, had the highest favorable net rating. And after him came Zelensky!?? at 18 positive points and then Sanders at 11 positive points. What the heck, Zelensky???? And btw, what's with the headline of the article (Trump trails Ocasio-Cortez, Sanders in favorable polling: Gallup), listing AOC before Sanders as coming higher than Trump. Yea, she did, but she's at negative 4 points net favorable rating, and Sanders is way above that and in the positive range!

From the NY Times. Doesn't that chair/head combo in the back between Trump and what's his name (Vance) look like a black skeleton? That's what I thought it was a first... I though the picture had been modified into a kind of joke! (Sorry, the link to the pic is in Spanish, I got it while working on my Spanish language learning)

The debates made it clear: Bloomberg joined so the Establishment Dems can look good.

They all got to attack him. He was the easy target. He diverted them from attacking each other - except Bernie. And that's the point isn't it? If not for Bloomberg, they'd have been either attacking Bernie or each other. And they don't want to attack each other at this stage any more than necessary because it will take all four of them - Warren, Biden, Buttigieg and Klobacher - to divide up the vote and allow the DNC to invoke the super delegates to steal the election from Bernie.

Is Hillary Clinton a Closet Republican or just a Nasty Person?

Or the third option, is she a completely Irredeemable "C You Next Tuseday?"

I am going with option 2 and 3 with a side of Bitter Vindictive Bitch.

It's bad enough all the lies she made up about Sanders and his supporters but now she's going to do it in a cycle where she's not even in and everyone in "Her" party are focused on removing Donald Trump.

Yet here we are again, with Clinton essentially sabotaging Bernie.

Let that soak in.

According to NYT, Obama "aides" opposed to Ellison as DNC

Chair because it would hand the party over to Sanders. No, let's keep the"legacy" alive and back the charismatic and effective Tom Perez or the like Sad .Sadly I am too computer illiterate to copy the link and post it here, but I'm sure someone else can do so. Wonder how soon Schumer will pull back his support for Ellison?

Political slogans

I was watching a video game live stream from earlier this year, when the two hosts started talking about their student council experiences. One of the subjects they touched on that applies to politics in general was campaign slogans, and their effectiveness. That made me consider the campaign slogans we hear today, and ones from the past.

Enough with the Sanders excuses.

It would have been lovely. Better than lovely, in fact, if Sanders had won the nomination. At least we could hope he'd plot an effective course back to the New Deal policies the Democrats had before the disease of neo-liberalism started growing under Jimmy Carter, a process refined and accelerated by the vile pieces of shit we call the Clintons. It wouldn't have been an especially forward-looking program given the glaring absence of a plan, however well disguised, to end the rule of capital.

Bundle this! Comcast and Hillary "Pay for Play"?

On June 6, AP and NBC made the call that Hillary Clinton was the presumptive nominee of the Democratic Party. This profoundly undemocratic move bypassed the pending primary elections in six states, and is a message to voters: “You don’t matter. We (the corporate media, and corporate lobbyists) are in charge of your elections.”

Why call the election before the voters vote? So they won’t vote, of course.

My Bernie Sanders Digest - Abridged

I've been writing about Bernie Sanders and his quest for the presidency all year. I've written a lot about it actually because I think this race is so fundamentally different from others in our recent history, and so critically important for our future. As I type these words the 2016 New York Democratic Presidential Primary is just days away. As a citizen of New York State myself, I will soon be casting my own vote for Senator Sanders, a man I believe in strongly.
