The joy of watching the ruling elites panic

They aren't even pretending anymore. It's amateur hour and they are throwing everything at the Sanders campaign to see if something/anything will stick.

msdnc_0.PNG

Meanwhile, this happened.

Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders recently surpassed former Vice President Joe Biden in a poll on the popular political betting site PredictIt for the first time, just days ahead of the first caucus for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination.

Sanders led in the poll with a 39% chance of winning the nomination, while Biden followed at 34%. People on the site buy shares corresponding with the polls, so a share trading at 39 cents corresponds with a 39% chance.

They are starting to realize that it may be too late.

bits.PNG

Big money Democrats have shown reluctance at funding such an effort, which could consist of ads attacking Sanders, and institutions associated with Democratic politics have largely shied away from being part of any campaign that goes after the senator, either out of fear over the backlash or growing acceptance at the prospect of him becoming the party’s nominee.

Better think of Plan B.

. . . for saying this nonsense.

I also saw a clip the other day where Donny Deutsch said something to the effect that Bernie has no chance of beating Trump and people who think he can live on another planet. MJ went after him for being a privileged old white super rich guy who lives in a DC bubble. I have it cued up:

And the three minutes or so of this MSNBC talking head lady (who I've seen being really rotten to Bernie and surrogates) giving a pretty fair exposition on democratic socialism blew my mind:

On the other hand, it looks like neolibcon print media is amping up their attacks on Bernie. I'm not going to bother to link that desperation.

Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria, Yemen … Gaza? U.S., NATO, Israeli, even Saudi elites have only the best of intentions! Take everything they say at face value! Except Trump! If anything is bad, it’s because of Trump!

Sometimes the U.S. and Israel say it’s OK to go after a country and its leadership as the designated “bad guy” — Iran, Putin, or the “Hitler of the month” like Saddam or Gaddafi — or Assad …

Otherwise Germans in media know to self-censor and shy away from criticizing other countries or dwelling on their own country’s losses and sorrows — lest they be accused of trying to get grandpa and grandma off the hook for 1933-1945 —

more than once here and elsewhere. As long as people in other countries are dying from our bombs, invasions and sanctions then Never Again is still happening and I don't believe Jewish lives are any more important than any other people.

And especially because of what Israel is doing to Palestinians. Muslims in the country they keep bombing. Etc, etc!

And the rewriting of history regarding the role Russia played in WWII and in rescuing people from Auschwitz is beyond disgusting. Kids today are learning less than we did and lots of it is pure grade propaganda.

Referring to the 1968 election.

The way I see the election is this:
If I was laying in the street George Wallace would run over me with his car.
And if I was laying in the street, Richard Nixon would order his chauffeur to run over me.
And if I was laying in the street, Hubert Humphrey would cry a lot as his chauffeur ran over me."

Anyone remember who said this?

BTW, that's sort of how I felt about the 2016 election. Substitute Trump for Wallace and Clinton for Nixon. There was no Humphrey, crying or otherwise.

He takes us on a tour of Hell, the Hell that Bernie will face, which will be dished out by the supporters of Donald Trump. The author describes how Bernie will be shamed with the twisted truth and smeared with fantastic lies as he descends through each Ring of Hell, only to face defeat at the bottom. The only two Angels who could save him ("African Americans" and "suburban women"), but they will refuse to do so. The Angels will only use their votes to lift Joe Biden to victory, which implies that they would rather have Donald Trump as their President than vote for Bernie Sanders. Trump Derangement Syndrome does real damage.

Using Dante's logic, we must conclude that the Russian 'election meddlers' were not waiting for Bernie Sanders in Hell where they can easily destroy Bernie's campaign. Obviously, the Russian's only attack the elections of 'real' Democrats, like Joe Biden, and thereby guarantee his loss. I suppose that makes sense. Only 'real' Democrats, like Joe Biden, vote to send Americans to fight proxy wars against Russian allies.

As it turns out, TDS is on track to sink the entire Democratic Party.

@MrWebster I love the RationalWiki entries on both of them...

Jonah Goldber - RationalWiki

Ben Shapiro - RationalWiki

Goldberg's argument that the National Socialist Party was socialist because Socialist was in the name was rejected by everyone but idiots. Shapiro is a professional idiot...

Goldberg wrote a book called Liberal Fascism[4] in which he claims that Swarthmore-educated grade-school teachers are a greater risk than actual fascists.[5] (This is despite the fact that he doesn't even know basic history about Benito Mussolini.[6]). The underlying premise is so poor that readers should be encouraged to pick it up in order to see what tripe the National Review actually publishes. For example the book clearly states that Hitler's National Socialist party (National Socialist German Workers' Party) was Socialist because it included the term in its name. This is not so much discredited but dismissed as idiocy by sane people.

The immature rantings of Shapiro as a college student weren't something he grew out of. Instead, his dumbest beliefs were reinforced by a right-wing culture that nurtured every nutty idea he had, and pressured him never to stray from a far right ideology. As a result, Ben Shapiro has become a professional idiot.

@boriscleto He makes up crap as he goes along. This guys operate at such simplistic levels. What I read of Goldberg, his logic was:

Hitler was a vegetarian.
Liberals are vegetarians.
Therefore, liberals are Nazis.

But this theme that the Nazis were socialists also spills over to right wing Christians. They want more than anything, to kick Nazis out of Christianity. So it goes:

Socialists hated Christianity.
Nazis are socialists
Therefore the Nazis hated Christians.

This of course absolves Christianity of any responsibility for the mass killing of Jews.

@MrWebster about the liberation of Auschwitz, which sounds like Hollywood's version of history.
I guess we gotta keep the hate for Russia burning brightly, heaven forbid anyone give credit where credit is due, particularly if it involves the RUSSIANS!.
I love Bernie but revisionism, particularly at this time and with the subject of Russia on the hot burner, is not the answer. Go ahead and repeat the unproven facts about Russiagate but don't erase the accomplishments and sacrifices of the people of Russia and its military in WW2.

One last item, Vladimir Putin was also in Israel for the 'Holocaust memorial' and Putin mentioned in his speech that over 40% of the victims of the death camps were were Russian Jews.

It is a well documented fact, even on film that it was the Red Army, alone, that liberated Auschwitz and the best reply to the recurring twitter comment in the thread saying 'but they were Allies, right?, was the reply (paraphrasing) 'So I guess you'd say the Russians were part of the battle of Midway in the Pacific because they were 'allies, right?'

‘Embarrassing mistake’ or revising history? German paper says AMERICANS liberated Auschwitz – and it’s not the only one

" The German weekly Der Spiegel “mistakenly” said the US Army liberated the notorious Auschwitz death camp. They have company in erasing the Soviet Union’s role in ending the Holocaust from WWII history, too: the White House.

Der Spiegel published a graphic on social media platforms last week saying the “amerikanischen Armee” (US Army) was the one that liberated Auschwitz, the largest Nazi death camp.

That would have been news to anyone in the 322nd Rifle Division of the Red Army’s 1st Ukrainian Front, which actually kicked in the gates of the camp on January 27, 1945. That date was later adopted as the international Holocaust Memorial Day.

Der Spiegel owned up to “this extremely embarrassing mistake” fairly quickly, saying they made it on Thursday evening and had corrected it by Friday morning."

The writer ends with this...

"...When this happens once, it’s an “extremely embarrassing mistake” indeed. When it’s reinforced by speeches from the top two US officials, however, one is tempted to conclude something else is afoot.

On the same day Der Spiegel published the flagrantly false claim, US Vice President Mike Pence – speaking at the World Holocaust Forum in Israel – described the camp’s liberators as mere “soldiers,” without saying whose. He went on to talk about two million US soldiers who fought in Europe and suffered “appalling casualties” to free the continent “from the grip of tyranny” – while reducing the far greater contribution of the Red Army and the Soviet Union to a token phrase about “all the Allied forces.”

Except for the tax cuts that didn't need any democrats to vote for it every legislation that Trump has put up has passed with bipartisan support. Nancy put no roadblocks on Trump locking up children in detention centers. No support for the dreamers. Nothing to keep Trump from taking money meant for other programs to build his damn wall. And billions in increased military budget and even more money for Israel to continue oppressing the Palestinians. So what's not to like with Trump being president for Nancy and her fellow sycophants.
