The Two Popes
A delightful movie and its simple theme, as old as civilizations, needs to be heard, often.

Happy Saturday smiley and all
Brave Ulysses brings me back to ports long left alone.
Tell it like it is.
question everything
Afternoon QMS,
Well, it's been a cream of a day; up at 5am, cold as hell, toes freezing by the end of one-hour-lessons all turning into a bitter rain by afternoon. Never fear, Mother nature has more in store, her deep freeze begins tonight with two-to-three days of howling mountain winds. Kind of married to her, i am, enjoying the power.
Hope you've a good stock of maple syrup on hand, to warm the insides.
Thank you, the last two videos make me cry
why is it the the good guys always die or get killed and the bad ones stay alive and grab power to oppress and exploint the good ones?
I have too many curse words in my mind for what has become this mega shithole country ...
I just wonder how we ever come out of this hole?

Afternoon mimi,
"The good, they do die young." A wonderful, painful song of truth.
'Miles to go before we sleep,' my friend, what else can we do but plug along, harder even, and leave a better inheritance for this earth.
Always a pleasure to see you.
Good morning smiley
and all.
I was trying to find out if the new movie 1917 was worth my time and I found a brief review this morning in Counterpunch about the crop of new movies out of La-land. I suspect I would agree with the reviewer. He said that the movie was “A rancid propaganda film with video game aesthetics.” Granted, that is just one review and I will keep looking. In the same article though there were some other recommendations for films. https://www.counterpunch.org/2020/01/17/the-best-films-of-2019/
I will try some of those out instead.
It is grey and rainy here and I have had clothes out on the clothes-line for three days due to my lack of paying attention to weather forecasts. Everything is soggy, but the plants are very green.
Hope you all have a good Saturday.
Afternoon randtntx,
Weather's been brutal here in that we've had a month of uncharacteristically warm days with rain, instead of cold days and some snow. As i wrote above, appears winter comes, now, at least for the foreseeable forecast; way late.
Think you will enjoy Two Popes.
Thanks for being here.
Hope
Thanks for the movie rec. I will definitely check it out.
A chilly morning here in Southern California
with frost on the leaves and snow on the mountains. A rare sight indeed. My Sister sent me this photo from Upland, California on her way to work. It's about as wintery as I prefer it. Don't miss the weather back east at all. Have a day of cooking ahead of me so it's off to the kitchen I go. Hope all is well in your world dear Smiley.
There is always Music amongst the trees in the Garden, but our hearts must be very quiet to hear it. ~ Minnie Aumonier
Afternoon Anja,
All is well or as well as can be; thank you for asking.
Beautiful photo, makes me miss the big mountains, loved my time in them.
Been cooking a lot lately, well, i cook almost everyday, but i've been sort of extravagant at times, the holidays, and running into deals on good food, a creative time which i enjoy.
Cupboard's stocked and freezer full.
Cook on, my friend.
Good morning smiley. Thanks for the OT and for the great
painting of Ulysses setting sail. The classicist penchant for over-the-top anachronism, to the point where the word fails to be truly applicable is always fun, for me, at any rate,
With a nod to QMS, who put it out there, I cannot resist putting it up there:
And what was it that Molly said, there at the end?
Too close for me to speak of popes and popery, not with February looming:
have a good one.

Afternoon el,
Yep, must be the romantic imagination of classical painters, hell, most great artists which moves them to take leave with history, a poetic license. Don't really know, just a stab.
The movie may surprise you, i think you will enjoy.
As always, thanks for being here.
Last weekend, I attended a wake.
Today, I am headed to a wedding.
Things are looking up in my social activities!
Gorgeous painting, smiley7.
I had hoped to spend the afternoon on the patio, grill fired up, but the forecast is 100% rains.
I hope all is well with one and all.

Afternoon OtC,
Hope the rains hold off, you deserve an afternoon on the patio, feet up, grill hot and libations cold.

late evening hello, smiley
and everyone
Thanks for the beautiful ot. I look forward to your 'Saturday Uppers'.
6.4 weeks to go until we vote and 4.5 to go until the last day of voter reg. Every time I turn around there is more to do. AOK by me. 'They', the btb and the msm, are turning up the anti-Bernie propaganda. So not surprised. It will be a revolution either way imho. Hope you have a very pleasant evening. Be well...
edit to add a little humor

That’s very funny, magiamma!
I wonder who I’ll meet this week on my search for a used hybrid to replace my ’96 Toyota. Wish me luck, or at least some fun! I'm actually already (just in anticipation) feeling overwhelmed. I know though, that it will be a Toyota, because of the confidence I have developed in their reliability over 30 years of driving them.
seriously cracked me up
best of luck in your search. Take someone with you if you can.
