Updated: Tulsi Surges in South Carolina (5%)--Opts Out of Dec. Debate
Announcement from Tulsi:
For a number of reasons, I have decided not to attend the December 19th "debate" — regardless of whether or not there are qualifying polls. I instead choose to spend that precious time directly meeting with and hearing from the people of New Hampshire and South Carolina.
A non-qualifying YouGov poll today came out in early state South Carolina, and Tulsi, who has typically running at 1% or 2% in the state saw some differences:
Biden 40%
Sanders 14%
Buttigieg 11%
Warren 10%
Steyer 7%
Gabbard 5%
Yang 3%
Booker 2%
Klobuchar 2%
Delaney 1%
Patrick 1%
Bloomberg 1%
According to 538, I think it's the same poll, but with slightly different numbers, has the results as follows:
Biden 39%
Sanders 13%
Buttigieg 10%
Warren 10%
Steyer 7%
Gabbard 4%
Yang 3%
Bloomberg 2%
Booker 2%
Harris 2%
Klobuchar 2%
Either way, increasing interest in Tulsi is evident in South Carolina to the extent that it might be her second-best state at this point, behind New Hampshire where she is polling 6.2% in the latest poll.

Disappointing re next week's debate ...
… to hear Tulsi opting out of the next debate although, with the paucity of qualifying polls in recent weeks, it's not clear she or Yang (each of whom is one poll away) would make it anyway. Main reason I'm disappointed is that, unlike the other ones which had "talking heads" from the likes of CNN, MSNBC and the so-called MSM, this one is going to be moderated by PBS, which at least has had a reputation for a modicum of even-handedness. Also, with fewer candidates on the stage, there might actually be more time for a meaningful discussion of the issues. Without Tulsi or Yang, two of the three strong anti-establishment voices in the Dem primary field (the other being Bernie) will definitely be missed.
PBS.
Ditto, JCW.

Everyone thinks they have the best dog, and none of them are wrong.
We need more good downticket candidates.
Maybe Tulsi can find or encourage some of those?

The hot chick who's anti-war
isn't going to be there?
That sucks.
I guess I like the old Jewish guy.

Not holding my breath, but
I would like to see all the candidates agree to boycott Lamestream debates.

Saving face?
Why bow down? If your pollsters think you are weak?
Forget the long game, it no longer works.
Be a fighter, challenge the odds makers. Make a stand.
That's how to get ahead.

If you're speaking of Tulsi
I doubt that she's forgotten the long game. That's what she's focused on. It's not just about the 2020 election.
I'm going to be so glad when the current iteration of the Democratic Party is a distant (but not fond) memory. I wouldn't cry if the party itself disappeared completely. It's corrupt and decrepit, sucking the life out of the US.

She probably figured they'd cheat her out of it anyway
so why bother to play their game by their rules?
There is no justice. There can be no peace.
That's what I'm hoping
Tulsi figured out she won't be taken seriously by the DNC no matter what she does, so just protest the event and spread her anti-war message in Iowa and New Hampshire and hope for the best.
