Friday Photography - Help Wanted
Submitted by janis b on Fri, 08/30/2019 - 5:55pm
It's Friday, and the POT is simmering away at low heat as usual, which is fine for a slow-cooked meal, but a stir-fry once-in-awhile would be a welcome change. Bollox and I feel somewhat depleted of inspiration and energy, and would kindly receive any fresh ideas or offerings.
Hoping your Friday evening is the beginning of an enjoyable weekend. I'm busy preparing meals that will sustain us for a few days if Dorian insists on landing here in Southern Florida.
Cheers all!

Hey Janis
Should we tell them about the paid internship?

Oh and...
A free, autographed photo of Fred?

That seals it!
I might even be tempted to carry on without you in exchange for an autographed portrait of Fred!
He's not very fast with a pen though
So people might have to wait.

Damn, I forgot about that part of the deal ; ).

Do you think the transnationa slush fund will still work
without the "l"?

Good evening, janis ~
That cartoon made me chuckle out loud. Thanks for the giggle.
Hope you’re safe. Take no chances.

thanks, magi.
i looked at the 'upload files thumb, tra la la. looks too danged hard for an old dog. ; )
lol: one was triplet fawns, another was a lewis woodpecker, pink with a black coat. get the picture?
I love your word pictures, wendy.
Whenever I embed from Flickr
many like yourself can't see them. A few days later they even disappear entirely for everyone in the essay. I once emailed them to try and solve the problem, but they never answered. So now I upload them onto DK and then transfer them here, which works. Something ironic in all of that ; ).
dunno what
DK means, janis b. but i reckon i'll just quit tryin' in any event, #OldCroneItis. that 'search, upload thing might make sense if i took the time, but it's just fine to look at others' photos.

Pregnant Kiwi Skeleton, by American artist Sam Anderson
Artist Carol Prusa, whose work I would love to live with. This piece is acrylic paint on a slightly convex circle of acrylic
An artist whose name and title I failed to note … open to interpretation.
omg the pregnant kiwi skeleton
is mind blowing. Have they gone extinct yet?

Hope Dorian doesn't disrupt your stay here too bad. Please stay safe.
Last Friday I spent some quality face time with some good friends of mine at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park.

Hi social
Great photos, all. How do they keep their 'hairs' so tidy?

Thank you, Magiamma.
I did have to edit out some grass and debris caught up in the gorillas hair but both the cats were nice and clean.

I really need to get out and get some new photos

Hi all,
Hi all,
Great pix everyone. Hey BR and J, did you consider going out and taking some photos?
I usually can't get here until later evening, save maybe a quick drive-by as today, or I would offer to help. I have a soporific post I make Friday nights for years that keeps me elsewhere and without it I am sure lots of people could not fall asleep.
My wife spotted a Luna Moth in the yard one dusk this week. My first in 30 years, what a beautiful beast. My understanding is no functional mouth parts or digestive system as a flying adult, it is strictly breed and die. This one came into water being sprayed about. Had to jack ISO up to 3200 and only flashlight for light so no good, but a docushot.
The birdbath has been pretty active due to the oppresive heat here in so. cent. Texas. August migration really gets going for many species. This has an immature Dickcissel on the left, a male Wilson's Warbler on the right and 3 Yellow Warblers between.
Here is the imm. Dickcissel up closer. A seed-eater that chases rains and breed in one area one year and are absent the next. They winter in South America.
A male Black-and-white Warbler, but not full adult, probably a year-old.
This morning an immature Baltimore Oriole came in. There was an adult male yesterday but it didn't stick long enough for pix.
This male Summer Tanager is probably the one that nests near the yard.

Nice series, dystopian.
Nice DYI fix using a flashlight for lighting on the shot of the Luna moth.

Hi Janis, we all need help these days ...
hope you can stay safe with Dorian approaching. What do you fear more Dorian or the nuke Mr. Nutman wants to throw into it?
Just letting you know that the Friday Night photo series has been the nicest thing happening on this site for a long, long time. If there would be something like a C99p-Academy Award, it should go to you and your fellow crew members who kept it alive for so long.
Have a good labor day weekend, all.

Hey, Janis
