I had the state fairgrounds in my backyard for the last eight years. The next street over was actually an exit road. Traffic would be absolutely abysmal for the first two weeks of August because of this. I moved in May. Don’t miss it at all.

Back in my home town, it was agricultural -- See the big piggies! FFA, 4H, carnies and corn dogs.
Great stuff for a kid from the country. One night a year.

I presume you know... Castor Beans. Of castor oil and ricin infamy. Don't eat the beans! Non-native invasive in CA, and I think the U.S. Maybe Mediterranean in origin, I forget. They get really pretty as they ripen. Love yer Redwoods.
Thanks for Friday POT
Love your poppies. So very orange.

Plants. Have volunteered here for years. I usually cut the pods off and throw them out. Try not to let them reseed. But they live here for years with no frost and are gorgeous.
Love your warblers.

Fall migration is getting underway for many birds.
We have been getting some Orchard Orioles and Yellow Warblers daily through our yard. A slow drip going into a water dish makes a great birdbath and attracts birds better than food. They need water in this heat.
What seemed a pair of Yellow Warbler came in a few days ago...
there was no agression, they seemed like a mated pair.
The streaks below on males are flaming scarlet in nesting season but have dulled up a bit already.
Ooops, didn't process my pics of the female bathing yet... next time...
Have a great one y'all!

Preferred the caramel apples. Easier on the chompers.

Yeah.
candy apples did require a bit of gnawing. I don't think I'd risk eating them anymore.
